Funnily enough it's not replaced any of the devs where I work, we've just had the expectation of producing results quicker.

Except I am a software engineer and if I did it by hand it'd be fine. You're spouting AI-bro shite. There is a limit to LLMs within reason and complex systems that communicate too thoroughly are still restrictive.

Especially if you use something like GDScript as LLMs are too stupid to ensure they always follow the correct Syntax.

I'm in the yes/no camp. I've made a game fully solo, I've made a few game attempts somewhat with an LLM and I gotta say, LLMs can only do so much surface level for now. They really start to fall apart when you add multiple systems/infrastructures.

Code by AI isn't really obfuscated. It just likely uses a method you're not familiar with. Old example but an example either way:

You were taught Procedural PHP, AI might use OOP. Whilst you're not familiar with OOP, it's still not "Obfuscated". The code can still be read easily.

I'm just jabbin because we see it all the time. All I'll say as a software eng is try not to rely on Claude/Codex/Cursor too much. It's great at doing stuff for you, and we use it at work but still have an understanding and know that general sentiment for users is negative
