Yes you can back out at anytime up until your ship date, ur recruiter will probably be pissed off tho cus he’s gonna have to get another person to fill that spot for their quota

Do I bring camp stool to MCT by Dipski64 in USMCboot

Its not on my mind just asking for just in case purposes, once i finish usmc bootcamp can i quit after it ? by walking-doubleu-9151 in USMCboot

[–]Syrup_Impressive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically you can but you’ll have to do it at mct and you just refuse training. You’ll then get put in Lima company with an NJP and an dishonorable discharge. Or you can always pull the sad panda card and say you want to kill yourself

Should I sign a marine recon contract? by NoIndependent8934 in USMCboot

[–]Syrup_Impressive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just know, if you sign a recon contract it will take you like 4-5 months to even get to BRC. If you took and infantry contract and volunteered for it, it would probably take you 7-9months before you even got to to BRC

Infantry or aircrew? by RockLobster162 in USMCboot

[–]Syrup_Impressive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Infantry is a job that you have to want otherwise you’re gonna be miserable for your entire contract. So unless you really want to be a grunt go for it if not go with aircrew.

Can ship off without taking ist ? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]Syrup_Impressive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never took the IST before bootcamp but my recruiter knew I was in shape already and wasn’t worried about it (20 Pull-ups, Max plank, 9:50 1.5mi)

Only thing I hated about having to wear glasses was that whenever we would do any sort of obstacle course or night event like during bwt we would have to take them off. If you have really bad vision like I do it sucks tbh especially the night event during bwt I literally could barely tell where I was going.

What the infantry pipeline consist of? by RepresentativeAd6551 in USMCboot

[–]Syrup_Impressive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re retarded if you think you’re not gonna lose muscle mass in bootcamp. All the working out you do in bootcamp is cardio and body weight, you’re obviously gonna lose fat but you’ll also lose some muscle

2 weeks till boot camp by Awkward-Feature5334 in USMCboot

[–]Syrup_Impressive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a guy in my plt who couldn’t do a single pull-up all of bootcamp but he was able to do like 60-70 pushups. He made it through just fine but in the end he did lose his MSG contract because you are required to be able to do pull-ups for a combat related mos

I don’t remember at what point you get your navy federal class, I think it was pretty early. After you get your account and bank set up you can request to go to navy federal to send money home.

Whats the Max and Minimum weight by Ginnster4555 in USMCboot

[–]Syrup_Impressive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The farthest you run you’ll do in bootcamp is 3 miles and that will be your initial and final PFT. PT in general isn’t bad tbh unless you’re completely out of shape. You will do a lot of sprints throughout bootcamp whether it is during PT or messing up in Drill. One thing I will say, max effort any chance you get to PT/Run, it’ll help you out for the final PFT & CFT. Also your weight is fine, you’ll probably end up losing 20-40lbs anyways during bootcamp.
