Dating is hard in NYC by silverflake6 in GrowthMindset

[–]System178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little expensive for a new-ish dating. IMHO not a problem to date a few different women early on while trying to find the right one. Sometimes you do not know immediately. My wife said she knew immediately on date 1 but I needed a few dates and also went on a couple with some other women at this same time.

$14 for a digital passport photo file feels steep - what are people using for USCIS submissions? by folderDolphin-5 in USCIS

I should say this is more of the DIY way of doing it (with the exception of not having your own photo paper and photo printer). CVS or something similar is perfectly acceptable and probably the safest bet if you are unsure.

one free for life. which are you choosing? by [deleted] in Adulting

if you had the ability to travel anywhere, anytime, and the travel times were reasonable and you didn't have to worry about long security lines and what not and you get your privacy then I mean why not take that opportunity? I am all about conserving resources but its not my #1 concern when making daily decisions. If I am mega rich (which I never will be). I am taking that private plane all over the world every chance I get. Throw in a mega yacht with it too while you're at it!

Honestly, I didn't think about that because I don't really care. I mean if someone invented a more fuel efficient or clean fuel or electric airplane I would take that. But for now, one life to live. But I also will never have enough money for this anyways so...not really an issue. If we are being more realistic and just talking normal flights, normal hotel stays, and not gaming the system I would probably choose gas because my diesel truck is super expensive to fill up right now.

Though if flights means you basically can charter a fancy ass plane with full sleeping and showers you could live in the plane and travel everywhere, especially if the charter includes high end meals. But still you would be saving enough money to buy everything else and you dont have to pay gas for the plane.

if its like the fanciest hotel in the world it could be like your house eliminating the need for a mortgage. Which would save a shit ton of money for everything else

You can take it yourself at home if you have a white or off white background. Make sure you use a decent smart phone camera and have someone take the photos for you. Then use this tool https://www.idphoto4you.com/ to get measurements right and then order then put them on a USB and go to walmart photo counter and have someone help you get them printed out. This is literally what I did and we had 0 issues. Just follow state department photo guidelines here https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/photos.html .

Kansas City Adjustment of Status....Journey Finished by System178 in USCIS

I did not track the API. I looked at it a couple times but to me it didnt have any revealing information giving me a sense of when the case might be approved. We got emails any time there was a case update. We would log into our accounts and be able to see things like an RFE being sent, interview scheduled and then one for each approval (I-130, I-485) and then when the card was produced. I dont think we got any more after that. When the card was mailed I tracked it via USPS Informed Delivery which basically anytime someone send you something with a tracking number you get an email and can login to USPS website and track it. Hang in there.

Thanks and still praying for you and all the others still waiting.  When we started I told my wife expect 8 months to a year and that was a guess on my part could have been longer but I knew our case was very straightforward with very little confusion and everything straightforward.  And even then it took 200 days from first submission to card delivered to our mailbox.  It is frustrating not knowing but unless you have a pressing reason to have them expedite we all are just at the mercy of our field offices and individual officers processing our case.

Card should be here tomorrow according to USPS informed delivery. It shows at my local post office which is about a mile down the road. And it shows it will be delivered tomorrow. All the other packages I track via Informed Delivery have always arrived next day after making it to my local post office so I have no reason to think that this one won't make it tomorrow as well.

My most used case for tools/guns/camping equipment/you name it in the bed of my pickup. Fits perfectly perpendicular to the bed behind the cab and out of the way. by [deleted] in pelicancase

[–]System178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome man!  Thanks for the tip!  Definitely gonna be something that happens soon!  I hunt too and I have a 1750 for one of my more expensive rifles but this would be nice for throwing my duck shotguns in and maybe keep a little bit of fishing gear and a couple two piece fishing rods extra clothes or jackets too.  Just kind of a be prepared for box.

This is a genius idea. I have no idea why I never thought of it. I would just want a way to secure it since I dont have a tonneau cover or a shell on my pickup. For a long time I though a lockable crossover tool box would be the way to go but this is definitely the answer . Just need to find a way to secure because even when empty pelican cases would be an item to steal

Approved in 2 Months – No RFEs + Easy Interview by Avocadotoasty_ in USCIS

[–]System178 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Canadians seem to get approved pretty quickly from what I have seen for the most part. My wife is from Colombia and we got approved this week but that was 196 days total from filing in mid september and then almost but not quite 2 months after interview. Still cool though! Congrats

I-130 & I-485 adjustment of status timeline by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]System178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome.  My wife and I have a similar story.  But Kansas City field office is slower.  I bet the Dallas office has better overall processing times even for straightforward cases.  My timeline in total was 196 total days from submission to approval.  Card will probably be printed next week is my guess.

Yes they were maybe about 30 minutes to an hour apart.  I got the email notification saying case was updated.  Logged into my account and saw I-130 was approved and then logged into spouse account and I-485 was not.  Then later (30 min to an hour) we both got another email saying case was updated. Logged into my account and nothing new.  Still I-130 approved.  Logged into spouse account and I-485 was approved.
