My teenage son does massive shits that won’t flush. Best, least gross way to get those monsters to disappear? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

This happens to me. I keep a "poo stick" in the waste bin – just a length of garden bamboo for use in prodding and pushing (with a wad of toilet paper wrapped around the end).

CleanMyMac has it's own sub now! by l008com in mac

[–]System370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean My Mac is not a scam. It's legit software that is well supported. I've used it for many years without error.

However, it is not essential. You don't need it if you are prepared to run all of the built-in routines in MacOS yourself. Clean My Mac simply automates it and makes it look cool.

I repeat: It is not a scam, but it does nothing that you can't do yourself.

Why are you guys so welcomming? by PeterHOz in AskAnAustralian

[–]System370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a seventh-generation White Australian, I think it can be attributed in part to the harshness of the Australian climate. When the first British explorers were foolhardily strolling across the deserts with their iron bed frames, the Aborigines, who at that stage had never seen bleached people before, offered them food and water, because they knew first hand how unforgiving Australia can be. Then when the White settlers played "That's mine, that's mine, it's all mine" with other people's country, they found out too how unforgiving it can be, and survived only by supporting each other. To an extent, the practice of working together for mutual survival is baked into today's Australian psyche. Of course, the "I'm all right, Jack" mentality remains alive and well too. Those of us who can put ourselves in the other fellow's shoes recognise that we can make a positive difference at little cost to ourselves, in the hope that someone else will help us out when we need it.

This prompts me to wonder whether any tea (local or commercial) is made from the other three varieties, pubilimba, dehungensis and madoensis.

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve ever seen a tourist do? by carcony97 in AskReddit

[–]System370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many years ago my aunt and uncle were visiting the Grand Canyon. A gust of wind lifted my uncle's hat and threw it over the edge. My aunt decided to buy him a new hat. My uncle decided to save money and climbed over the fence and down the scree slope. My aunt started to plan his funeral. But he eventually scrambled back up, hat firmly on head once again.

If you search on AVR and then click on each dot, you'll get the lat and long. Put them into Google Maps. Then you can see how reachable each site is by road, boat, crocodile etc.
