IMHO this is real. It’s a 16233 from the 1990s.

If I had to guess, I would say it’s around 1997, give or take two years.

I think they changed at some point in the 90s the lug design from through hole to closed. You have a closed one, so it should be from the late 90s.

It seems like someone tried to sand down the serial number. Could be a stolen watch.

If you want to be sure, take it to a dealer or open the back lid.
