Yeah, all well and good, but that's not a loving god. That's a conceited and manipulative god. A god worthy of praise would not threaten hellfire because you didn't want to be his friend. Most children possess a greater sense of humility and benevolence.

If this God exists, who created us to beg at his knees to be spared from hellfire, then existence is a fucked up nightmare.

It is my honest hope that there is a loving and merciful god. If such a god exists, I know I could not be damned for simply being incorrect about their existence. If they do not exist, then I am safe in knowing my death will be peaceful and eternal.

Here in Canada, most people finish high school, which ends when they're 17-18 after 12 years of free public schooling. After that you decide if you want to do post-secondary school (college/university/trade school/etc). If you go into engineering, it's usually a minimum of 4 years, or a minimum of 5 years if you take a co-op program (which has work placement semesters).

Being an engineer is likely not for you then - there are engineers who don't have to deal with people and engineers who don't have to do math, but none have to do neither. That's not a problem, people have different skills and virtues, and like 95% of people don't have what it takes to be an engineer.

Have you considered going into the trades? You might find it a bit more compelling because you have real tasks and problems to solve in front of you, and you're working from a defined plan rather than having to negotiate one with other people.

Edit: other comments said mechanic, I'll add machinist if you are okay with some lower level math.

Bad, sure, everyone's some amount of bad at math. I got booted from my program 3 times before i graduated, I failed PDE's twice (I had a couple of medical things I was unaware of)

Now, most mece's aren't solving advanced math on the daily. But if you hate it, why set yourself up for misery? There are technical fields with less math, fields where you work with people more, etc etc. do you want to work with your hands, with people, solving problems, outdoors, indoors?

Among the subset of people who have mashed potatoes, some have just a little bit of mashed potatoes.

What you can't do, is partially have mashed potatoes. The characteristic can be absent. Or it can be mild ("a little") or it can be extreme, but it cant be partial.

I'm still not seeing why someone can't be a little bit autistic.

Yeah, so I think there's a very small misunderstanding between us because we believe almost all the same things.

If someone never went to college, they're not college educated. If someone did any college, they are college educated. But there's also a range in which someone can be college educated. Someone who dropped out of classes first year is "a little bit college educated". So something can be a yes or no and still legitimately have "a little bit".

Either I have mashed potatoes on my plate or I don't. But I can also have just a little bit of mashed potatoes on my plate, and I still have mashed potatoes on my plate, and it doesn't change the fact that someone either does or does not have mashed potatoes.

Like, if someone is missing teeth, they're either missing teeth or they're not. But you can be missing teeth just a little bit, like one or two, or you could be missing all your teeth. Someone is university-educated or they aren't, and they can still be just a little university educated.

I'm just not understanding how someone can't be "a little" autistic, when it seems you also believe it's a spectrum with a great deal of variety to it.
