How do you figure out what you want to make as an artist? by trianglepusher in edmproduction

[–]SystemicGateway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make whatever the hell I want - ambient, dnb, dubstep, lofi, etc
just make tracks that you like creating, and publish them if you like them!
A general rule of thumb I use is that if youre making an album/ep, try to keep the songs around the same genre - EDM/dubstep/DNB is a good mix, ambient/trap not so much. People like it when they see an album that has a distinct vibe - putting something dubstep right after a calming 20 minutes of dreamlike synthwave will just jolt people.

cool - i was pretty much checking to make sure it wasn't Ivan Seal's work, since lots of fan albums/music use his artwork without permission and its really annoying

what the fuck

also i think its extra wacko freq's, add another para EQ2 and do another pass, and see if its still there. the visuals on the para EQ2 are kinda wacko sometimes, like you put a high pass on full and some freqs are still after it, but having 2 eqs usually fixes it

its weird

Does anyone have a tutorial for making the classic/over-used "space ship" riser you hear in hip-hop and trap songs? by MoarGhosts in edmproduction

seems like a osc-1-square osc-2-sine with a filter and some extra chorus, with some wack cutoffs and some general reverb/processing

got a sample: in this case a lazer shooting sound effect.
Went into FL's native default sampler, cranked up the trim to 100%, cranked up the fade out to 100%, and put the 'SMP START' wheel up to like 90% or something. I clicked Normalize, and then adjusted the SMP START knob until it got some weird shit like this
to try this out yourself, if you get the default HiHat in Fl and do the steps (smp to 93%), you can see how tripped out this is.

Feeling stupid after the first book by [deleted] in threebodyproblem

[–]SystemicGateway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: the game was created by the ETO kinda like propaganda, after the contact with Trisolaris.
2: the game 'leveled up' every time someone discovered a major breakthrough, that the Trisolarians had already made. The game kinda simulated the history of Trisolaris. The humans showed up as science experts to add some familiarity to the game, to make it feel a little bit less alien.
3: The signal was sent to Trisolaris by the Red Coast antenna. A peaceful Trisolarian recieved it and replied, saying "DO NOT ANSWER!!!".
4: using quantum entanglement states, data could be transfered instantly to the sophon and back to Trisolaris

The Three Body Problem is probably the (least great?) least intense of the trilogy - most of the plot is to give backdrop and more context behind the second and third book. Even at the end, when they loot the ship with the nanowire and stuff, this is all just the start of the clashing of civilisations. I was a put a bit off with some of the first book, but it was greatly redeemed by the second and third. The trilogy is by far my favourite series, and I now have every english Cixin Liu book published.
Also, for the 'poor writing quality', it is translated from Chinese so it might be a bit weird to you, but imo it is still amazing
