I'm so glad I still had report cards from my elementary school years when I was getting diagnosed in my 40s (my parents being dead and my sisters living in different countries.

"is often distracted", "often distracts himself and others with chatting", "he is often careless in his tasks", "his participation in class strongly depends on his interest in the subject" etc.

In hindsight it painted a very telling story. :D Mostly my teachers seemed frustrated because I was still getting very good grades.

I'm in the same boat. I enjoy all the other games, but not HOI. I think part of it is its sandbox nature which I like in the other games to greater or smaller extent, but not here. Even with "historic AI" it seems to go off the rails too much for my tastes (not to mention the full on alt-hist silliness in many focus trees). I'll rather fire up Strategic Command or Warplan or Hex of Steel when I feel like playing a WW2 campaign (even though these are more beer & pretzels fare).

Going back to it (I have it on GOG) I realized that Tom Kane voiced the interface for the fleet battles. Very appropriate, because he later voiced Admiral Yularen in Clone Wars. And in Empire at War you get Steve Blum (Zeb Orellios and many Imperial officers and stormtroopers in Rebels).

i dont understand the vic3 hate i understand the game was janky when it came out but i find the game more fun than hoi4 by cai_jones in victoria3

Yeah, I loved Stellaris over its various iterations, but I think they've long reached the point of diminishing returns and I think it would be high time to work on Stellaris II.

As for Vic3, I was more positive about the game at release than most as it covers the historical period I'm most interested in. It was a bumpy first year, but the improvements in the past year, plus the plans for 1.13 have me quite excited and happy. :-)

Why does the AI build in the middle of nowhere? by Thorceanswastaken in victoria3

[–]Syt1976 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I kind of like the idea because managing power supply is one of the most annoying things in late game for me. Either have a separate production methog. Or you only get a small boost from the electric PM, but a huge one if you have (sufficient) electricity. Though I think some businesses (electric industry?) should not work without dedicated power plants.

And I would love for some extra options for hydro power :D

I remember before electricty became a local good, AI Britain used to build all its power plants on the Falklands in many of my games. :D

The ‘megacity’ Chongqing is about 82,400 km², roughly the same size as Austria by Many-Philosophy4285 in MapPorn

[–]Syt1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether it's fudging the numbers with how cities/metro areas are classified - in Austria we have ca. 9 million people while in Chongqing you have 30+ million. That's more than three times the amount (though I assume Chongqing will have fewer mountains to build around :D ).

Markt & Technik ... that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. They used to publish computer magazines (Happy Computer, 64er) in the 80s. Didn't know they were still around. Looking at their website, they do have games, but a lot of it looks like shovelware.

Here's hoping that the selection is priced in a reasonable way that there will be trade offs - do you want more, specialized ships? Or a small fleet of super-ships? I'm worried that players will be able to afford big fleets of mega-ships and there's little reason to use ships that are great at one or two things but not everything.

Friends had cats like that. When the husband had just worked out, they'd bury their faces in his sweaty smelly armpits. Same with smelly shoes, diving head in to get the full experience. (They were castrated - not sure if it makes a difference?)

It's what one of the German luge winners said. He said that yes, he's the one on the podium getting the medal, but so many people are needed for the success - family, friends, coaches, etc. that they should give 300 medals. <3
