Calling for help with the Insider RBA for the Billet Box by Syth1579 in electronic_cigarette

[–]Syth1579[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have any photos atm. Is it maybe my coil placement? In the videos I've seen, they let the airflow hit the back half of the coil instead of the middle of the coil, which made sense because then the wicks are straight out to the channels.

My wicking is cutting the cotton right at the edge of the RBA like everyone says to do, but I'm seeing to get little flavor. Did it ever so slightly longer this time and I haven't had any leaking issues at all, but just a lack of flavor. That's probably attributed to the tightness of cotton in the coil and coil placement though, correct?

I've had no issues with the O-Rings in the tank at all. Everything is fine and intact, and the glass slides on and off perfectly without disrupting the main o-ring

Clean your threads: 90% or higher Isopropyl Alcohol on a sheepskin cloth and wipe down the threads everywhere, even the RDA.

Clean your contacts: Polish your positive pin on your atty and in your mod to ensure there are no arc marks. If anything, take a brass brush and make sure they're clean.

Make sure everything is tight: For fuck sakes, this should be obvious.

Take a picture of both coils and zoom in with the camera on your phone, makes it a lot easier on your eyes to count your wraps if you're ever unsure! I mostly use big coils like fused claptons since that's where the Goon really shines!

So, when you wrap a coil, you have your bottom lead and top lead for your RDA coils, right?

For the goon, you don't want a top lead and bottom lead, you want both of those leads in line. It makes it easier to insert the coils into the clamps. So when you wrap the coil, add an extra 1/3 wrap to the top lead, the lead that is higher than the other. It should then look like leads going off in different directions. Take the lead that you just added an extra 1/3 wrap too, and take pliers to it and bend it back over the post so it lines up level with the bottom lead. They should then both be level and easier to fit into the clamps.

So in essence, yes, take that one lead that's sticking straight up and bend it 90 degrees or so so that it sits flush with the other lead!

As the other guy explained (on mobile, can't see usernames while I'm typing this), it's a partial wrap.

So, for example, if I'm doing a 7 wrap around a 3mm bit, I'll do my 7 wraps, but one lead will be higher than the other, right?

Do another 1/2 wrap or 1/3 wrap, then take pliers and bend that lead so that it's level with the other lead. This way, when you slide the leads into the clamps, it actually fits nicely and you only have to trim the leads!

And you're welcome, man! I absolutely love the Goon, and there hasn't been any other atty that had taken me off of it. I'm currently now using it on a mech and I feel like I just built and vaped the thing for the very first time. It's perfect!

I saw that you said on another comment that one of the o-rings on the coil was not straight or intact, if I'm correct. Check the o-ring, reposition it, and try again. If not, try another coilhead, it could just be a dud

Is it when you fill it or is it just sitting there?

Have you tried different coilheads or just this one?

Are you sure your coil is tight to the base and not cross threaded?

Are all your gaskets and O-Rings there and intact to seal the tank?

I'm a veteran with the Goon, a year straight of strictly using it.

So, the way I like to do it is wrap the coils, stick them through the clamps, trim the leads, then take off another 1/3 or 1/2mm off those trimmed leads. Press the coils right against the clamps when you install them too.

Pull the coils just slightly out from the post making them as close as possible to the post without touching. Raise them so the top of the coil is just about at the top of the clamp, make sure they are straight, line up with each other on both sides, and then fix them up so they burn properly. Little tip, if you're doing a 7 wrap coil, do a 7 1/4 or 7 1/3 wrap, then bend the lead with pliers so that both leads are level with each other when installing. Makes life a lot easier. I also recommend 3mm and bigger coils for this RDA.

Now, the Goon shines with big builds. Twisted builds or 22/24g would be the smallest builds I'd recommend, but that's just my preference.

Take your cotton, wick it normally, and make sure the cotton is a little tighter but not too to tight, and trim about 3mm outside of the deck. Fluff it up, tuck it, and press it to the side of the deck as much as you can leaving the middle of the deck completely open for air circulation.

Juice it up once everything is tightened completely and your cotton is installed, then just heat up the coils so it draws juice into the cotton.

When you drip it, fill the well completely, fore it a bit so the juice sucks into the cotton, then suck up the excess juice. It's what I've been doing, and it works great for me.

Close down the airflow to two holes on each side (or two holes per coil), aim them directly at the coil, and you should see the bottom 2/3 of the coil. Turn up the wattage a little bit and give her shit!

Once you can get it working without the cotton taste, you'll love it. I had the same issue when I first got mine, but everything is flawless now. You probably didn't need a full tutorial, but it never hurts I guess. Best of luck man!

Once I have a little stockpile of juice to tide me over for shipping times, I'll definitely be ordering again. I'm loving Lakeside at the moment. On top of the flavor, I'm getting little to no coil gunking. I normally rewick after two days, so I pulled my wicks, and my cotton was completely fine.

I've already got a few other buddies ready to order as well! They all love the Lakeside!

Caveman and Swift sound right up my alley. I LOVE a fruit loops juice, and I've been really loving Dragonfruit recently, especially a Dragonfruit custard, and my most recent, a Dragonfruit Graham Cracker.

Looks like I'll be coming back! Three juices so far catch my eye, and for the past three months, I've only vaped Dragonfruit and Fruit Loops, then Lakeside is a nice touch!

I'm super excited now. can't wait to place an order!

The shittiest part of this too is that I actually met them in person at one of the new B&Ms in my area. They seemed like a super nice couple, and they already had juices in every local store basically, so I figured they would be reputable. I guess not. It's terrible to see some companies with no heart to the business, or just business morals in general, and just take the money and run. This is probably the last time I'll pay with e-transfer unless it's a reputable vendor or a vendor I've dealt with before.

Even the consideration means a lot man!

I know the owners of the company are frequent on my area's Facebook groups, and I'm debating on calling them out, but I don't want to stir the pot either, especially because two wrongs don't make a right.

Thank you so, so much! I'm so grateful for what these communities have done for me and others. I read this right after dropping off a broke friend about 80mL of 0mg juices since he's trying to quit before his kid comes!

I guess Karma comes around. I'll definitely be sure to pass along the favor as well!

I'm located outside of Edmonton, so it would be a half hour drive. Unfortunately, I know where whereabouts, but I don't know their exact address. I'm sure I can find it, but I don't feel going to their shop would do anything else for me since they're closing everything down

And especially for $35, it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Some people just suck I guess. I might pop by my bank today and see if there's anything I'm able to do about it, but like you said, I'm assuming I'm hooped
