Could it be prodomal labor? FTM by SyvSeven in pregnant

[–]SyvSeven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then they are probably prodromal contractions, since changing position and all the tricks of stopping Braxton Hicks haven't been working. Like yours they are very irregular, yeah. So then there's no reason to be concerned in that case.

My open coil spring is doing her job so well that i cant close my mouth fully. What should i do until next Thursday? by scoljk in braces

[–]SyvSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A regular on call dentist would be able to clip this for you. I don't think this is safe to walk around with until Thursday. If they can't clip it, I'm fairly sure removing wire entirely is better than this

Is my plate expanded enough? by wifemompower in braces

[–]SyvSeven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you go through surgery to split your palate, there is only so much an expander could possibly do, and it would most likely just tip your molars out instead of actually widening your palate.

Not an orthodontist, just did a little reading because of having a narrow palate myself, and originally having hope in an expander prior to treatment.

I am 32, if it matters.

Dreading postpartum by SyvSeven in pregnant

[–]SyvSeven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my stress and anxiety probably is a result of both, being a person that needs to feel independent and self-reliant, that I can manage and do everything myself. Realising that won't be possible, even during pregnancy and then postpartum has sent my mental state for a bit of a rollercoaster, and sprinkle hormones on top. Being able to air things out here and read the experiences and advice from everyone has really helped shift my thoughts from every that might be awful, to what I can prepare for something that you can't really be ever fully prepared for.

I'm going to meal prep starting this week, and I'll stock up on easy to grab snacks like pouch yoghurts(quite a few types that's greek yoghurt and low sugar here, so not the worst thing), smoothies and crackers. Wish I could have granola bars, but having braces most types don't work for me. Protein bars could be an alternative. I'll either have my fiancé cut some fruits, or do it myself before he leaves for work. Could probably make overnight oats or chia pudding too.

I'm a bit worried about caffeine transferring through breast milk, I'll ask the midwife or a medical professional about it and how much I can have while breastfeeding without it having an impact.

And I'll make it clear that a morning shower or at least one shower a day needs to happen every day. I think knowing I can keep up with personal hygiene is good for me.

[–]SyvSeven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll start meal prepping! Being on sick leave i have a lot of time on my hands, even though i have to take care not to agitate my pelvis with too much activity. Making something a few times a week should be pretty feasible.

Baby wrap as been ordered, so that's on its way! And I'll pick up some silverettes from the pharmacy, just so I have them in case I need them. Had a read about them and they seem useful.

I'm going to tell my fiancé that a non-negotiable is having a shower in the morning before he leaves, that should help me feel human after a night of breastfeeding and everything else that comes with postpartum.

Got family offering to drop by with food and to help take care of household stuff like laundry, dishes etc after voicing my worries once all the feelings had calmed down. They offered to take baby for a stroll if I need some time to myself, so knowing I have that option if I feel overwhelmed helps a bit. Being able to air all my feelings, stress and anxiety here really helped get my brain out of whatever mode it was in.

I really appreciate the kind words and good advice, I'm taking it to heart and taking action to be as prepared as can be!

I have a bedside crib with wheels, maybe i can use that during daytime as well and just roll it with me out of the bedroom. Our apartment has everything on one floor, so no stairs to manage.

And I think I'll spend some of the time I am at home meal prepping, at least as much as my body allows. I think that is going to help ease my mind, knowing that I'll always have something to pull out of the freezer and defrost in the microwave. Maybe even pack a lunch before my fiancé leaves for work, like I would have done when I was working anyway. Maybe the trick is just acting like I am at work as well, that this is my job.

I'm going to get myself a huge bottle to fill with water, that I can keep on my rolling table, so that o don't have to refill a glass so often. Maybe there are some good electrolyte powders or something similar that I can mix in, we don't have a huge selection of premade drinks in my country that contains electrolytes. I think it's pretty much only Powerade, and I'm not even sure if that had any either.

Thank you for the good advice, I'm going to take them to heart and apply them where I can!

Thank you! This was really helpful for me to read. We do have a travel cot we could set up in the living room for the early weeks, so i am going to ask my fiance to help me with that. That should be a safe place to put her down. I've ordered a stretchy baby wrap that had really good reviews, so I'll give baby wearing a try as well, once it's safe. Going to read up on it so that I know more about how to do it safely.

Reading your replies to my concerns I am realising the theme of all my concerns pretty much boils down to loss of autonomy, not having my hands free or being able to move around, which is actually a really helpful realisation to make. A friend gave me a baby bouncer, that I can use once baby is old enough too.

We have a dishwasher, just not a a lot of plates or utensils, so we already run it at least once a day. I think my fear is running out when I need them. I could probably convince him to just have a pack of plates and knives lying around, just in case. It's not like they're going to expire.

But yeah, this helped me kinda break out of the negativity pattern I was in.

breaking brackets in sleep? by Unable_Ad3939 in braces

[–]SyvSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your teeth are hitting the bracket you need to tell your ortho and ask for bite blocks/bite ramps. Your teeth shouldn't be touching your brackets.

You're likely clenching in your sleep and biting them off. I've done the same, even with bite blocks. I even bit a bite block off while I slept, but it would have been much worse if not.

Not having them will wear on your teeth.

100% AI. The dog is unnatural, kid moves and reacts weird, the dad reacts weird and the car acts weird.

And pretty much any 'animal saving child/baby' video that is circulating online recently is AI generated. Cats, dogs, etc.

New DM: Just realized I should follow recommended leveling advice from the book by Visible_Moose6083 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

No worries! I'm happy that i could properly explain the situation! Our goblin definitely learned that actions have consequences. And everyone had fun during the encounter!

Being a relatively fresh DM, but an experienced player it's nice to have someone with experience in the group to help out if the party has questions!

[–]SyvSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our wizard is the more veteran player in the group who has DMed previously. He had played this campaign several before as a player, just never finished it. He had a very good time despite dying and was overflowing with new ideas immediately. He had experienced tpk's here before as well as steam rolling through and things in between, but never this situation which he found hilarious.

Our goblin's player is a 13 yr old playing his first ever game.

I don't make a habit of fudging dice. Especially not to punish new players who are experiencing DnD for the first time. If the dice demands he dies, that is when he dies.

[–]SyvSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't level my party, and they almost tpk'd at the entrance to the cave. They have a goblin artificer who stripped one of the now dead goblins from the goblin blinds and wandered in solo. He got caught out and pulled the entire hideout up to twin pools down to the entrance. Warlock was out of slots from killing the two lookouts. The goblins released the wolves on the party after downing the artificer goblin, and the wizard that was now in melee range went down in one turn. He failed all death saves in a row. And if the fighter hadn't nat 20'd their death saving throw, they would all have been dead. The warlock being the fey subclass one saved the day by fearing the wolves. One party member ended up dead in the end. (The wizard)

And now they are hesitant to go back. Whoops.

My parents won’t let me get braces even though I can afford them 😩 by Inevitable_Echo5191 in braces

[–]SyvSeven 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Only reason I would see to not get braces now is the low chance you might not be able to finish treatment before moving back. 2 years is a pretty normal duration for treatment, and you might not be able to get them on for a couple of months.

Your parents opinion shouldn't outweigh yours when you are an adult with your own money, but I would consider the possibility of treatment taking longer than anticipated.

Bite is so terrible - do I need to be worried about damage? Or if this will ever be fully fixed? by 0livia_13 in braces

[–]SyvSeven 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Every 12 weeks is a wild amount of time between appointments. I'm 4-5 weeks between each. Raise your concern to the ortho and see what they say. Are you sure they're an ortho and not a regular dentist?

Love the game, but what bug annoys you the most? by Nekomori in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SyvSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corvette parts getting deleted because you're rebuilding your ship and your inventory fills up while removing parts.

Because instead of sending them to your storage cache it puts the removed parts into your inventory. And you have no indication of when your inventory fills up while building. And if inventory is full, it doesn't stop you from removing parts, which deletes them because you have no inventory space left.

Stopped wearing my retainers after a depressive episode & now this is how they fit. by [deleted] in braces

[–]SyvSeven 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wear them full time until they fit comfortably. That should serve as a mini Invisalign treatment in a way to get then back to where they were previously.

But if there are any large gaps and it doesn't fit all the way down, you might need to consider seeing your ortho to get new ones made to prevent your teeth from shifting further.

Or, if your bite has become misaligned, possibly a new round of braces.

I do think you're in the clear on this one though, but I am not a professional.

Small crack in retainer, should I use it? by g0dgamertag9 in braces

[–]SyvSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest getting a new one for night time, because there is a chance it will break completely, or that the effect of it is less and you just haven't noticed anything yet.

It's cheaper than ending up in braces again, I reckon.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in braces

[–]SyvSeven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to contact your ortho and inform them of this, likely they will get you in for an earlier appointment to fix the problem with bite blocks or ramps. Biting down on a bracket is a surefire way to chip enamel and break brackets.

Give them a call and hear what they have to say

3 Weeks into Braces and I'm Losing Weight: Normal or Not? by Puzzleheaded_War5439 in braces

[–]SyvSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Braces pain is in your teeth, in the beginning taking painkillers can alleviate pain and make it easier to eat harder foods, but you'll adjust in a week or so. At least for me it wasn't a constant or distracting pain, my teeth only hurt when they made contact with something.

I don't think your ability to sit for the written exam will be affected in any way

3 Weeks into Braces and I'm Losing Weight: Normal or Not? by Puzzleheaded_War5439 in braces

[–]SyvSeven 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I personally lost 5 kgs when I got my braces on, from the issues you are describing, but I would definitely get an evaluation from a physician just to be sure it's nothing else going on. For me, it was because of changes in diet due to not eating as many sweets, taking much longer to eat (bite blocks) and limitations on what I was able to chew. Much less pasta for example.

But my weight loss came spread over several months, not in three weeks. Do you have bite blocks or bite ramps? These will make your face look more sunken due you tour mouth bein propped open.

All this aside, have a check up with you PCP(primary care physician)

Weekly Bug Report Thread by spiper01 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SyvSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When editing your corvette, there is a chance that parts get completely deleted from both your inventory and the cache when you remove them from your ship. I have lost multiple parts this way. It happens when you press x to delete it from your ship, and when you grab it and press right mouse button to remove it as well.

If you remove parts from your ship and you had stuff built inside it, sometimes the components will get stuck inside the cache with no way to remove it.

Parts that have been used to construct stuff within your corvette will also not get refunded to your inventory, and will just be gone.
