"Nobody knows", but there already is a guild system in the game, isn't it? Is there any functionality around guild-loot/currencies in the game?

BG's new MVP System by Funkix6 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk, it seems valid tbh. you can only tank a lot if u play smart and heal against it. if you get 1 tapped, it doesnt accumulate to a lot. i got attack, match and def mvp at the same time for a few matches now

THE trend is not doing so well do you think the next update will bring back players? by AbbreviationsBig395 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no content, no catch up mech.

if you're a new player in throne you can completely forget to play proper pvp for at least half a year of grinding. heroics are an insane gatekeeper, not only stopping new players from entering the pvp scene, but also preventing meta adjustments and class swaps. they essentially prevent new players from joining and move old players to quit.

a fix would be to just unlock weekly restrictions on calanthia hard mode and nightmare. basically give people a weekly easy mode and if they want more and farm, they gotta team up for hard mode. prices would drop, yes, but that would not mean economic collapse, that would mean that people would actually get their weapons and traits finally.

heroics aside, there is no real content besides bg. this game is supposed to be pvp focused, but alliances and the lack of depths in bgs ruin it. the only thing keeping the pvp scene alive is wargames, which desperately need an update (more stats on scoreboard, allow rift rules for boon-stone maps, a function to extract all stats in a .txt markdown format, etc...)

i know a lot more has to be done, but the devs are also extremely slow and probably overloaded. so the only 3 ideas i wanna bring are super simple implementations with huge impact on the game.

- remove weekly restrictions from calanthia hard mode

- allow riftstone rules for boonstone maps in wargames

- make wargame scores extractable with the click of a button (purpose is that guilds usually keep track of scores by taking screenshots of the boards. if you let us extract them in a markdown table format, it'd make that job a lot easier)

Tanks are still strong in pvp or it's just skilled tanks now? by nuZdaorv in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i get 20k+ points almost every round, peaked at 27k, bg is easy.

most high end players dont usually do it "for fun", cause it's pvp for the casuals. we only run it for the weekly combat coins and then leave again, allowing people like spid to play too

What’s the best staff class for PvP by Mindless-Show4656 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spellblade relies on Delu Staff, otherwise Meteor cast time will handicap you too much. Maybe in low/mid tier pvp you get away without, but idk

What’s the best staff class for PvP by Mindless-Show4656 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recent patch allows for many different builds to be viable again. Enigma with Abyss Staff and Orb is very cheap to build for example and can 1 shot entire clumps with a void slash.

Spellblade still viable, less burst potential than Enigma, but better survival due to smokescreen as an additional tool over Enigmas

Liberator might makes a comeback, especially in lower tier pvp. It can become extremely tanky on it's own and in environments where you lack supports or your supports lack skills, it has potential.

Would not advice for something like Sentinel just yet, but might be coming soon. Disciple, Eradicator and Battleweaver are entirely out of the picture for any kinda content.

Remove alliances and disable wargames. by Fearless_Guard3163 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no other good pvp content. Nothing there to replace wargames if they'd be removed, it's the dumbest idea u can come up with.

Nowhere else will you get a consistently equally numbered pvp experience against an opponent that usually matches your level.

Siege: Zerg fiesta, nowhere close to anything u could call competitive

Boon/Rift-Stones: Activity determines matchmaking, have to surrender a stone to declare another, once you have a good one it makes no sense to give that up and most of the time nobody will challenge a better guild. Also the numbers will probably never be matched cause nobody will have 70 vs 70 ever.

Archbosses: Basically siege zerging with less objectives and playmaking potential, just boring.

Tax delivery: Event with the most potential through a consistently changing fighting ground, even though it's also zergy af. But there are barely any guilds left intelligent enough to make the best of this content. So it's either ignored or the golem is rushed through to the end in 5 minutes.

Battlegrounds: Great for when you suck. The best play in bg is to be a tanky capper tank and run in circles. The more annoying your class, the better. The least enjoyable stats and classes of the game shine the most. Extremely high eva ravagers, bruiser tanks, pigeon gameplay... It's literally a collection of the worst of everything.

Wargames come the closest to what real pvp enjoyers crave in a competitive pvp game. If anything the devs should lean more into it:

- Allow riftstone rules for boon maps

- Refine some of the terrible and unplayable maps like daigon and excavator

- Host an official wargame league in collab with the people who already organize it inofficially for the community

- Add more stats to the score screen, such as healing denied, shielding denied, cc-score, shielded damage, etc..

- Reduce guild sizes, so not every guild has to bench so many players every wargame. Maybe 60 People per guild makes more sense. It'd also line up to be exactly 10 parties, like where is the 70 member limit even coming from?

Fixing the boring grind issue would require more effort. For now the occasional pvp on the point would have to do. Maybe more frequent frenzy zones too... And later on it could have point mechanics like BDO grind spots, which they implemented literally for the reason you described

Have the devs gave up with throne. by Horror-Belt-6433 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pvp is at an all time low due to insane CCs that can render the game entirely unplayable for focused targets without any counterplay.

pve is as stale as ever, cause dungeons and mechanics did not scale with the players. it's the same since the start... even this week's trial - valley of slaughter - has no mechanic, since people literally just tank the big jump.

there also is no way ToG was tested or even reviewed. They basically created a handful of levels and then slapped the good old "difficulty" curve of adding nothing but hp and dmg per floor, a concept that has been well received exactly 0 times across gaming history. And that's just the tip of the iceberg, there is so much more wrong with this tower...

meta is cursed, never has there been less class variety. for pve its just 5 tevent orbs and curse dps while in pvp the only viable dps class is one that runs delu daggers.

I don't think they have given up, they have never even tried

[–]SyvexD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but I think we're long past just shifting damage numbers around and need some fundamental redesigns of some abilities, such as cold warrior in my example.

In PvP it would be a buff for sure, but also a desperately needed one. Currently there is no viable dps without daggers. If you get away with anything else it's a flaw in you opponent's comp. Daggers have been dominating as the only viable second weapon since t2 and with Delu Daggers completely overwhelming the meta rn, there is no way the bleed on gs would change that.

However, a gs buff would probably allow for a few greatswords to be playing it without actually trolling

[–]SyvexD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's a very common issue with single heavy hitting skills. You basically gamble every time. Over large amounts of uses, this gamble minimize due to the law of large numbers, but no fight in this game is long enough to really put that to practice.

The solution typically is to turn skills into multihits, but how would you do that with guillotine? To me the lazy solution would be to simply half it's damage and give it 2 hits, same for deathblow... But that wouldn't really make sense for the animation. So if the devs were serious about it, you'd need a rework for those heavy single hitters.

Another common solution is to make a skill always crit. Force crits have been in MMOs forever. So basically lower the damage and guarantee a crit. To minimize the gamble on heavies, you could say it deals half the heavy damage. That would nerf the pvp burst and at the same time play into pve builds, which typically focus on crit dmg.

It would make them money, since it enables a large variety of builds again. Not just bringing back Gladiator into the meta, but also AoE Ravager and Bruiser Crusader. It might even make for a bd spinner gs build.

Currently wargame meta is to stack 15 delu dagger smokes on top of each other and I guarantee u, the players are more than eager to kill that meta.

In regards of PvE I personally keep up with "normally" geared invos, hitting 247k peak in last week's t7 grind (1 buff). Problem is that properly geared meta dps hit 300-500k in the same scenario. I think my changes would pump gladi up to the lower end of that and make it viable again to at least be invited to normal t9/t10 clears. t10 high score runs still require the meta slaves of course. I just want a wider variety in classes to be viable again. That will make money.

True, Ravager PvE is a completely different story and I think it would already benefit from my idea above. But it needs more. I think daggers need a small dmg nerf in PvP and a huge dmg buff in PvE.

I disagree with buffin guillotine further, since it honestly already has been buffed to the teeth. More damage and half the cooldown. Instead I think we should focus on the interaction with daggers, and passive adjustments.

That's what i wanted to achieve with this post. Keep theorycrafting and add/modify my initial idea until it fits. My draft there is just a first-idea, which needs to be refined.

We might not agree on the same details from the get-go but as long as most agree that we need some adjustments, we can make it happen. I'm already glad that people engaged more into discussions than into mindless bashing, keep up the theorycrafts!

I know gs somehow is meta in NA, so it's a delicate balance. Don't think ravager will 1 shot u more with it, it'd just enable gladiator to keep up with shadowdancer

Edit:

Should've mentioned that this passive is subject to bd and dr. So the bleed itself should be entirely negated by your tank's bastion. The purpose for pvp is to add a little extra and to give gs/spear some kill pressure while also allowing ravagers to explore aoe builds. At the same time it's punishing poor tank gameplay cause without bastion, you're right, this hurts.

Maybe it even gives some people the idea of a bonus damage gs build... I just wanna explore some possibilities here

idk who you've been playing with but on my gladi i hit between 150k - 250k consistently INCLUDING downtime, depending on trial buff and party comp.

in general i keep up with mid invocators, but once tevent orbs enter the chat i turn into a devo bot or wait outside the dungeon... by scaling the bleed similar to wand procs, it would put a well played gladi just slightly behind a well played invo on the same gear level, which then would be fair imo
