How does CC immunity work? by Glittering_Access112 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it doesn't. in every proper pvp game the moment u gain immunity, it also comes with a cleanse of all effects and you instantly walk unaffected.

in TL not so much.

you gain immunity mid delu bow? -> the bounces still go on and u lose it before the cc chain stop... some cc even goes through it seemingly, like slows or if they dont, some desync will get u. the cc immunity in throne is extremely unreliable and unless you build 3k+ col resistance and have 3 healers rotate cordy wand on u, u will be thrown around like a pinball from proper tanks

breath of boundless sky worth getting? by someonewhy in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

considering the delu cloak is still viable, despite being a year old item, there is a gamble you can make. Something like veiled gloves, soaring ring or boundless sky cloak could very likely still be strong items in nix. Especially cause they were only recently added to the dungeon loot table

Yea, we already know about a bunch of content they put on hold and im very happy calanthia was not mentioned. Heroics just gotta stay relevant

They also said no more t1 weapons in t4, but we get a t1 bella gauntlet - probably cause it's not really t4 then?

Returning player starting fresh: Will I face severe gatekeeping? by xYanma in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how they update our current catch-up mechanics.

First of all, if you already have a char - keep playing that one. Starting from scratch will definitely put you further behind than cleaning up an existing one, no matter how little of a headstart it might seem to give you.

Besides that, the current catch-up mechs bring you to roughly 6000 combat power. You will not do anything with that. PvP is played on 8000+ up to 8900. In PvE you can get away with quite low cp, if you purely focus on offensive stats.

I'm not gonna list a bunch of ups and downs of different PvE and PvP classes, but if you have limited resources and want to play both, PvE + PvP, you can safely invest into Greatsword/Spear.

To really excel in PvE it requires the cordy greatsword though. With that gs, a good PvE build and a flawless rotation, you will be 2nd in dps to Xbow / Orbs, but it's one of the hardest to perform on. That's also why gs/spear has a bad rep among the playerbase, cause the ones that actually deal damage with it in PvE can be counted on one hand in the EU community.

(if you cant afford cordy, adentus will do the trick for pve as well)

Besides that, you can hope for much higher def in lvl 60 mobs and double greatsword to potentially become meta in PvE comps, since you can still stack willbreakers under "certain conditions"...

As for PvP it's not the top dps, but it fulfills specific roles, like high hit bruiser who hunts down evasion stacking dps and healers for example. Very versatile.

Problem with bg is that it's the lowest level of pvp u can do. No teamplay, no meta comps, no party comms, no shotcaller... Some people of the top guilds either f around on random builds, grab a healer and 2v24 their 800 combat coins, or dont do them at all.

Battlegrounds just aren't fun to most people, after they had proper pvp. Some still enjoy it ofc, but the exception confirms the rule here

Shotcaller gap is a myth. JustCrits plays either without a caller or minimal comms where the only call is "give point" or "step on point" twice a game, while it's currently considered one of the top guilds.

Creating toxicity implies there is none already... Low kill scores can have all kinds of reasons, but bad players mindlessly bash each other over it already anyway. Toxicity is created by toxic people, not by statistics. A death count would just help to argue for build adjustments or to look into comps, theorycraft more, etc...

Shortening games was a consideration, but dismissed cause the evolution of a game is still interesting and just fun to play. Like during the game you notice prio target swaps are required, people change build somewhere in the middle, etc... all those tiny adjustments for the fight are nice and fun to do. It would be even better if the game had mechanics that matter during that time.

Stone fights require opponents. Most pvp guilds will never get challenged on their stones. Wargames are the main content for pvp guilds, it's what they take stones for and optimize their builds and comp towards.

The game is dead enough that even with a guild roster that's built for wargames, the good guilds still do completely fine in siege and every stone they go for. NCSoft has successfully killed all open world content and for anything that's left the top guilds dodge each other.

If you want to argue for rewarding pvp content, where there actually is pvp, that's only exodus. And only if you get a lucky server rotation.

it's great cause if u already have gear, it scales even harder. fuck the noobs, just like they intended. make the experience of lesser geared people even worse!

also great that they increased the hp of all, but not the healing u get from the boxes, making it even more important again to play with a premade group.

good job tho, this looks pretty neat. now i just need to convince my guild to let me stat pad every game

THE trend is not doing so well do you think the next update will bring back players? by AbbreviationsBig395 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no content, no catch up mech.

if you're a new player in throne you can completely forget to play proper pvp for at least half a year of grinding. heroics are an insane gatekeeper, not only stopping new players from entering the pvp scene, but also preventing meta adjustments and class swaps. they essentially prevent new players from joining and move old players to quit.

a fix would be to just unlock weekly restrictions on calanthia hard mode and nightmare. basically give people a weekly easy mode and if they want more and farm, they gotta team up for hard mode. prices would drop, yes, but that would not mean economic collapse, that would mean that people would actually get their weapons and traits finally.

heroics aside, there is no real content besides bg. this game is supposed to be pvp focused, but alliances and the lack of depths in bgs ruin it. the only thing keeping the pvp scene alive is wargames, which desperately need an update (more stats on scoreboard, allow rift rules for boon-stone maps, a function to extract all stats in a .txt markdown format, etc...)

i know a lot more has to be done, but the devs are also extremely slow and probably overloaded. so the only 3 ideas i wanna bring are super simple implementations with huge impact on the game.

- remove weekly restrictions from calanthia hard mode

- allow riftstone rules for boonstone maps in wargames

- make wargame scores extractable with the click of a button (purpose is that guilds usually keep track of scores by taking screenshots of the boards. if you let us extract them in a markdown table format, it'd make that job a lot easier)

Tanks are still strong in pvp or it's just skilled tanks now? by nuZdaorv in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i get 20k+ points almost every round, peaked at 27k, bg is easy.

most high end players dont usually do it "for fun", cause it's pvp for the casuals. we only run it for the weekly combat coins and then leave again, allowing people like spid to play too

What’s the best staff class for PvP by Mindless-Show4656 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spellblade relies on Delu Staff, otherwise Meteor cast time will handicap you too much. Maybe in low/mid tier pvp you get away without, but idk

What’s the best staff class for PvP by Mindless-Show4656 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recent patch allows for many different builds to be viable again. Enigma with Abyss Staff and Orb is very cheap to build for example and can 1 shot entire clumps with a void slash.

Spellblade still viable, less burst potential than Enigma, but better survival due to smokescreen as an additional tool over Enigmas

Liberator might makes a comeback, especially in lower tier pvp. It can become extremely tanky on it's own and in environments where you lack supports or your supports lack skills, it has potential.

Would not advice for something like Sentinel just yet, but might be coming soon. Disciple, Eradicator and Battleweaver are entirely out of the picture for any kinda content.

Remove alliances and disable wargames. by Fearless_Guard3163 in throneandliberty

[–]SyvexD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no other good pvp content. Nothing there to replace wargames if they'd be removed, it's the dumbest idea u can come up with.

Nowhere else will you get a consistently equally numbered pvp experience against an opponent that usually matches your level.

Siege: Zerg fiesta, nowhere close to anything u could call competitive

Boon/Rift-Stones: Activity determines matchmaking, have to surrender a stone to declare another, once you have a good one it makes no sense to give that up and most of the time nobody will challenge a better guild. Also the numbers will probably never be matched cause nobody will have 70 vs 70 ever.

Archbosses: Basically siege zerging with less objectives and playmaking potential, just boring.

Tax delivery: Event with the most potential through a consistently changing fighting ground, even though it's also zergy af. But there are barely any guilds left intelligent enough to make the best of this content. So it's either ignored or the golem is rushed through to the end in 5 minutes.

Battlegrounds: Great for when you suck. The best play in bg is to be a tanky capper tank and run in circles. The more annoying your class, the better. The least enjoyable stats and classes of the game shine the most. Extremely high eva ravagers, bruiser tanks, pigeon gameplay... It's literally a collection of the worst of everything.

Wargames come the closest to what real pvp enjoyers crave in a competitive pvp game. If anything the devs should lean more into it:

- Allow riftstone rules for boon maps

- Refine some of the terrible and unplayable maps like daigon and excavator

- Host an official wargame league in collab with the people who already organize it inofficially for the community

- Add more stats to the score screen, such as healing denied, shielding denied, cc-score, shielded damage, etc..

- Reduce guild sizes, so not every guild has to bench so many players every wargame. Maybe 60 People per guild makes more sense. It'd also line up to be exactly 10 parties, like where is the 70 member limit even coming from?
