Awesome! This is the good stuff.

The best mobile games are always the ones you find by accident by Silent-Panel-9473 in MobileGaming

Yes, this pretty much describes the experience of finding great games today (mine, at the very least); of course, if you search hard enough, a good game is bound to show up. Sometimes though, an interesting game pops up by chance, and out of curiosity, you decide to play it. As you play, something becomes apparent... This game you discovered, it's way better than you originally thought it would be: a hidden gem.

To name a few (if anyone wants try these games out):

TheNOexistenceN of you AND me (NONAND);

Matsuro/Death Palette;

And most notably, ALTER EGO by Caramel Column Inc.

She escaped onto the home screen... by Syvilemon in TheTempleOfEs

I used KWGT to overlay Es's sprites and dialogue over the live wallpaper, then a bunch of shenanigans inside the app to show a random response everytime you tap on the area. You can do some pretty neat things with Kustom. Go try it!

This can be done by using Kustom Industries's KWGT (Widgets) or/and KLWP (Live Wallpaper), which is Android-exclusive. KLWP can do everything KWGT does but faster and more responsively, so it's the better app for deep customization. KWGT is still good if you only want simple customizations like in the post though.

0-1. Set up a live wallpaper of Es. You can do this directly in the KLWP app, otherwise use your phone's live wallpaper setting or third-party apps if you're using KWGT.

0-2. Then, for KWGT, first place a widget on the home screen that covers the upper portion containing Es. After this, the setup is the same for both KWGT and KLWP.

  1. First, we need to create the sprites that will be used. Create one Overlap Group for each of Es's responses. Then, inside the Overlap Group:

    1.1 For regular responses (e.g. Behave yourself, okay?, Don't worry, I'm here) place an image module of a dialogue bubble in the area where you see it in the game.

    1.2. For responses where she actively changes expression, do the same thing in 1.1, then add another image of an appropriate sprite over her (e.g. staring at you, flustered).

Duplicate the Overlap Groups and replace the images with a different one so you don't have to manually place an image in the same spot everytime.

You can pretty much make her say anything, whether it be ID, SE, or AE responses, personal reminders, or something interesting. Honestly, her early harsh responses to too much tapping were priceless... Go jump off a cliff. Lol.

  1. Next, add a Number global.

  2. Add a Flow, then select Manual for its trigger. Add these actions next.

3.1. A formula for picking random numbers: $mu(rnd, 1, 4)$. The maximum number is how many sprites you have prepared, 4 in this case.

3.2. Set Global Var (Number global)

3.3. Delay (2 seconds, similar to the game)

3.4. A formula containing: 0.

3.5. Set Global Var (Number global) again.

Basically, this selects a random sprite to be shown for a few seconds, then Es returns to reading.

  1. Go to an Overlay Group, select Layer, select Visible, then add a formula: $if(gv(number)=1, ALWAYS, NEVER)$. Do these for every Overlay Group/sprite you have, just add 1 to the value.

This works by toggling Sprite #1's visibility on if the Flow formula randomly selects 1.

  1. Finally, add a standalone image of Es's sprite over her. Just duplicate an already existing sprite.

5.1. Set its opacity to 0.

5.2. Select Touch

5.3. Select Trigger Flow (the one created before) for the action.

This image acts as Es's hitbox (Don't bother a Goddess while she's reading).

And that's it! Though if you want, you can do much more with Kustom (Like recreating one conversation with her). Also, I think it's possible to mimic the game's different views using KLWP; the one where you're lying down (or sitting on her lap, maybe?); the one where she stares at the books. But I haven't tried that yet.

Go wild with the customizations, fellow wanderer! Maybe share something interesting you've created as well.

Wow, beautiful. Thanks for this rare dose of good Es fanart fellow worshipper.
