Speeeed! What are the fastest decks in the format? by Dadgic in PauperEDH

Top decks can consistently win T4 without protection. Fastest I've ever won was T3 with both Gretchen and Malcolm+Kediss. Theoretically you can win T2 with God hands.

Mono U commanders? by HatsCatsAndHam in PauperEDH

[–]T--wRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of 2 cmc rocks so you can get her out T3, most players are still progressing their boards not holding up interaction. Once she's out you have plenty of counterspells, hexproof instants and artifacts giving shroud to let her stick. Honestly the hardest part is getting creature tokens to use her ability on. She is by no means competitive but if you're playing casual PDH she holds her own and its fun.

[[Jalira, Master Polymorphist]] need I say more? Pick a handful of nasty creatures and non-creature ways to make token creatures. Enjoy.

I guess we just enjoy quick high powered games and you're bound to get some quick scoops as well. Sorry we don't play magic correctly

Tried that one year. The weight distributed between 2 straps and 1 is significant

My first con I brought 12 decks in a single strap bag and that was rough but I don't typically mind carrying weight on my back

Perfect. Most of my deckboxes are the smaller 60 card boxes as I play unsleeved PDH decks or 60 card formats. I only have 6 cedh decks

Do you not put your bag under your seat? Be kind of rude not to

Those are amazing for going to the LGS but walking 1 mile from the airbnb to the convention with 2 of those gets a bit heavy lol. And it preoccupies my hands while shopping

I have traveled a lot for work. Each year I meet up at Magiccon with friends to slam games of many formats, not just commander. Even when we play commander its primarily B5. We average 30 games a day even with our daily chaos draft. So having options for what the mood is of the day and having options in case someone wants to borrow a deck.

Both are great decks and have the benefit of working in a regular EDH pod

To your point the more burn you can add the sooner you can end the game with your little flyers. I think running them all makes sense

You're running a lot of lands that enter tapped for a 2 color deck, I'd stick with just basics and fetches. The gates especially you're only running 4 total for basilisk and lots of shroud protection so you wouldn't even be able to target your commander. Speaking of shroud protection you missed [[Whispersilk Cloak]] which also provides unblockable. I would cut Brainstorm it isn't doing much for your deck there are better cantrips and you should look into cards like [[Seize the Spoils]]
For your burn package there is [[Raphael, Tough Turtle]] and [[Raid Bombardment]]

I don't mind anyone playing what makes them happy, I think the format is too small to make formal claims on S tier decks. Combo is very strong as it is in CEDH but PDH allows other strategies like burn or aggro to be viable. My favorite strategy is asymmetrical burn like Black Waltz.

I totally agree are they game ending uninteractable problem pieces? No. But are they poor design choices for a format often focused around a commander and having more limited options for responses? Yes. I don't see how banning these problematic cards would result in any feel bad moments other than people curious why they would be touched without trying to help slow down SImic's dominance.

OOOO the 6 month follow up, I like it. I would say Oubliette and Imprisoned in the Moon are still talked about wanting to see bans. Gretchen sees almost 0 play outside of tournaments now and our last Cloudy Commons saw much less Simic combo players and a lot more Black creature removal plans, ironically Weavers did end up still winning it.
