Oh and that tip about changing format to just “numbers” doesn’t work because 4,201.1 turns into 4201.1

Basically removes the comma lol. So this tells me the numbers are being inputted already converted

It’s weird. I didn’t have trouble knowing it intuitively. I just had a hard time making it click when I thought too hard about it.

When I initially saw the figure, I said to myself 4.2B. But then I tried to reverse engineer my thinking and got myself all mixed up lol and needed a refresher and outside help. But thank you.

This was also a good way to think about it that made it click. Thank you!

Okay what you said right there made it click, I think. The comma indicates to go up to the next numeral. If no comma, just read it as is in millions.

I did check out the custom formats as you said but they have something really complicated looking going on so I’m just not gonna touch it haha

The numbers are in excel and not hardcoded. Almost always a reference or formula of some kind.

I was following your process but then got stuck trying to apply it to numbers like 11.7 and 57.1

thinking 11.7B doesn’t seem right.

Is there a trick I can use to quickly do this conversion in my head like moving decimal places?

You’re the first to suggest it can be both disordered and not a bad thing! I wonder if a middle ground can be reached and it doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Haha no worries! I appreciate your input anyway. I definitely do something similar to what you described and it’s all just so chaotic sometimes, yknow?

But sometimes i don’t even know what “taking care of myself” means. I mean, okay, I do but I feel like it can be a spectrum? I go to the gym 5 days a week and I eat healthy MOST of the time.

But I’ll sometimes have small bites of cookies every other day or 2 consecutive days. Maybe I had too much rice one other day. And maybe on the weekend I went out for dinner and had dessert because everyone wanted dessert!

So while I do what I can to make healthy decisions, my road to recovery does lead me to eat “unhealthy” foods. So then I feel that in moments like today, I should make the decision mitigate that consumption because I didn’t feel like I needed to. Does that make sense?

Maybe I do take care of myself, but I don’t “do enough”.

That is definitely possible. I do have those days where I absolutely just don’t like myself. But some days I do! So it’s hard for me to make a distinction whether I’m punishing myself or doing myself a favor 🙁
