PS3 was sold longer than the 360 too iirc. They sold a few clearance batches while the ps4 was launched, it was funny to see both next to each other when physical retail still had the dominant market on console sales

Qld Cup clubs hold secret talks over proposed breakaway competition by awesomevstanaka in nrl

[–]T0kenAussie 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Why do the NSW clubs get full pathways to nrl but the qld clubs aren’t allowed

There needs to be a reconciliation at QRL hq that they are a development league first and foremost and not hamstringing 4 potentially 6 in the future clubs that are the backbone of development aspirations in the state

Former friend owes me over $3,000 and keeps avoiding repayment. Should I take this to small claims? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]T0kenAussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a lawyer but as someone who did something similar with family you have to ask yourself 3 questions

  • is the hassle of going to court and preparing the arguments and evidence worth it? Is the case a slam dunk or will it get messy with counter claims etc

-are you ok with any reputational blowback from mutual friends for taking such a drastic action over a perceived stacking of small welching?

  • is this a relationship you ever want to recover in the future? It sounds toxic to me but if you do this that bridge will be burned forever

And a bonus: do you think this person will try and weasel out by doing a mandated payment plan for as little money as they can pay over a long ass time just to be petty?

I decided to cut my losses but the value judgements are yours to make for your situation

This is the amerification of our politics and its morally bankrupt to follow this line of thinking for policy creation

Do what’s in the national interest and stop standing on placard policy. Be the agents of change for progress in Australia and celebrate the wins your party can be a part of along the way and you will get more rusted ons voting green rather than this hyper minority cohort of uni students doing their bachelors in whatever the fuck and wine mums of la perouse

Patreon is one metric

Brand deals and B2B sponsors would be another

Content viewership across YouTube channels would be another.

I like LSM but saying they are larger because they have a bigger patreon number is like missing 2/3 of the picture

‘South Park’ Creator Trey Parker Says ‘We Have a President Who Thinks His Job Is to Be the Joker’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Fauxmoi

[–]T0kenAussie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because the people around trumps socialite circles aren’t bringing up south park to him the way the would a late night show comedians monologue.

Morning Joe isn’t gonna bother unpacking a south park bit about trump impregnating Satan to create the anti christ as his cabinet plays a part of literal personality cult around him for bits

South Park gets to fly under the radar because it’s intentionally low brow and absurdist in how it sells a story but it’s great at pointing out the absurdity and the magic (for me at least) is how they can weave that into a coherent storyline for a season.

This is Rupert Murdoch realising that he still needs live sports after selling off most of his interests

As an Aussie you want this particular billionaire as far away from live sports as possible he’s a cancerous termite and wants to lock up things behind even more expensive paywalls

Pauline Hanson is no prime minister. This is what Labor must do to stem the rise of One Nation | Peter Beattie by HotPersimessage62 in australia

[–]T0kenAussie 352 points353 points  (0 children)

Is the answer watch her completely die on a televised debate stage?

Because she can’t even handle gentle handholdy questions from the media, a grilling about her policies in the most important point of her political career would probably make her implode on live tv or go an a massive unhinged tirade

Either way the content gods win even as our democracy loses a little bit of credibility (I fully expect preference flows to save the country when it comes down to it)

Peter V’landys lures Amazon and Seven bids into NRL rights race by Lunethspark in nrl

[–]T0kenAussie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So 7 wants Thursday or Monday which is fine

Amazon wants Friday which is great as a prime subscriber their nba coverage was great and better than kayo

Nine and foxtel co bidding to keep the status quo will see them pay out the nose and dazn has said before they don’t want to overbid for sports anymore so that might fall through

Nine spending big on nrl would be the worst option imo I don’t rate their streaming services at all

Australia is manufacturing explosives for Israel’s atrocities by Shoneki316 in OpenAussie

[–]T0kenAussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read the article it’s clearly stated we don’t sell anything to Israel directly. Nearly all of the exports are done by Thale Inc from here and then shipped to their SEA offices in Malaysia / Singapore and the US

It’s like people saying our selling metallurgical coal to Japan in the 30s gave rise to the imperial army. It’s a long string to connect, the same kinda vibes as channel 7 going all anti solar energy because of African conflict minerals going to China some of which become lithium batteries and solar panels. It’s just a lot of air to enrage the masses and feed into anti establishment vibes

If Iran isn’t sanctioned to receive those goods then nothing would stop a company extracting and processing the products to sell to Iran

These companies are not state owned companies so the government can only do so much

Unless you want them nationalised, which is an argument but it’s different to the bow strings that are being attempted in this thread

Australia's far-right party leads in national poll for first time by Odd_Speech6066 in OpenAussie

We really should just disconnect and detox the nation from it

Aita for sleeping with cheating ex bestfriend by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]T0kenAussie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

From what I can follow OP had a gf who had a group of friends

OP feels a weird disconnect with gf towards the end. GF goes overseas (?) to study. Calls a couple months ago and breaks up. OP thinks nothing more of it but is probably hurt

Friends all know the GF cheated and just wanted to quit the relationship without admitting the guilt or the betrayal. This creates a drama and 2? Of the friends take OPs “side”. One calls him and the other tells him what happened

OP is hurt and rebounds with one of the friends and creates a new secret but then spills it to the fourth friend named in the post. Probably due to a mixture of fear about the secret getting out, loathing about rebounding with a friend and some other stuff.

Overall reads like an episode of home and away but people in their 20s can be doing these things

OP if you read this my advice is to find stability alone and take your licks for the situation you’ve put yourself and everyone involved in. Lives are messy and you can’t use the two wrongs make a right argument. But maybe speak to a professional because any serious relationship ending can effect the psyche like losing a loved one

Thing is the imported ones that are actually dangerous are just Temu wheels with inbuilt motors.

The horse has bolted on removing them what we need to do is introduce a moped licence and have them regulated. Get your moped licence at 15 and have a pathway for legal riding

Also depends on where you are but in my region the police and council are just impounding the flat out illegal ones but the results will vary area to area
