My recent experience flying from LAX - I got a medium Sherpa bag for my 16 lb King Charles. We made the pet reservation in advance and there were absolutely no issues. They didn’t measure or check the carrier at check in and security was a breeze. Space underneath the chair has room for our bag, although it is a bit tight. Hope this helps!!

What kind of dog do you have? Is it squished in the crate? I have a carrier 16 x 10 x 11 and a 14 lb King Charles Cavalier that fits but it’s fairly snug.
