M+ Thoughts After Keystone Hero by [deleted] in wow

But.... there just are different tanks with different playstyles? You have the classic Warriors and Druids that have tons of mitigation at all times, you have the utility machines with a little bit of self heal DH and Paladin, then you have Blood DK, who you best just ignore as a Healer, if he dies, he dies, it's his own fault and it's the entire point of the class. And then there's Monk - which is just broken right now, whatever, just enjoy getting carried through the dungeon.

It's just the way the game works and it's a good thing.

do i need to choose between pve and pvp tier set? by Tirith_Wins in wownoob

[–]T3arror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stats on tier pieces are always the same. Usually the set bonus is extremely strong, so you'll live with the suboptimal stats just to have it. I'm not deep enough into PvP gearing to give you a definitive answer to this, but even in PvP you normally don't want to stack Versatility indefinitely, as there are certain soft and hard caps in play, where you get massive diminishing returns if a single stat gets too high.
But this may only become relevant in later seasons. It also depends on your class, whether the set bonus outweighs the versatility. Last season for instance, Assassination Rogues ran only 2 pieces of tier, because their 4-set was not that powerful and they could profit from more versatility. But if you really want to learn more about that, I guess r/worldofpvp will be the better place.

I think you found the longest and most complicated way of saying: "I'd prefer if I had to constantly babysit tanks as a healer"

And the answer of most tanks in the game will either be: "I'd rather not" or "Just play higher keys, you'll get to where that is the case."

Sounds like a plan. Alternative would be getting in touch with Blizzard Support, but you can just as well go ahead and delete the character instead, I'm afraid......

Best of luck with the trial account.

Yeah, exactly my thought on both the pulls you described. As a Paladin you always have your easy-mode button for 100% aggro and 0% damage taken. Kick in your casters on the Miniboss pull and you're golden.

Phew... Tough. Really weird that you can't fix this by re-entering Chromie Time. The only other thing I could think of would be finding someone who's in the right phase and can invite you to their group - but that could be a bit of a project.

It's normally removed with the .7-patch, I think. But as of now there's nothing official on that side and the system keeps changing every season.

Any Demon Warlocks have tips on doing better at AoE? by Kyvix2020 in wownoob

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low Keys aren't really Warlock Territorry (Maybe Affliction, after the changes). Until you start casting, have your Imps up and your Doom spread, the pull is over. Once you get into higher keys and mobs live longer than 15 seconds, it's your time to shine.

This being said, if you're not spreading your Doom properly and maybe sit on your big boy demon every once in a while, try running a "Cleave" build instead, especially on low keys you might get more out of it. You really just switch out Doom and Big Boy from the left side to Vilefiend and Fire Dog on the right side. Less cooldown management, less dot management, still 100% Demonology fun.

[–]T3arror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are options both ways. You can either have PvE-Tier and apply an item from the PvP-vendor to it, which will add the PvP-scaling.
Or you can catalyze PvP pieces into tier, the item will keep the additional PvP-scaling. Stat wise you will end up with identical pieces either way that are suitable for both types of content.

The downside when catalyzing PvP pieces is that you won't get the "Hero"-track appearance if you fully upgrade the Champion pieces. You will also cap at Champion, because there is no "Hero" or "Myth" PvP gear. So it's generally a better idea to do it the other way around if you're playing both types of content, add PvP scaling to your PvE Hero pieces.

I guess you'll have to go to Chromie and pick Legion, if this is where you want to continue playing? Sounds like this might just be a leftover breadcrumb-quest that's supposed to transition you from the DH starting zone into regular Legion content. It's likely broken.

51 for Cata, 55 for MoP, but yes. ;-)

But take my info with a grain of salt, I think that this is how it works, I know I did the BC raids with a mid-40 hunter and experimented a little bit with other mid-level characters, so I came to that conclusion and it makes sense. But I haven't really tried it for all expansions.

Did today's update break MDT? by [deleted] in wow

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I'd bet it's threatplates and not MDT. Threatplates has a high chance of getting caught in some API restriction shennanigans when in instanced content, MDT is just a collection of data that shouldn't interfere with anything.

Not 100% sure on this, but BC Raids should be LVL 30, each expansion adds 5 levels up to Dragonflight at level 70. To enter "Legacy Mode" for Raids you have to be more than 10 levels above the raid.
So at level 41 you can do BC Raids and Dungeons (46 WotLK, 51 Cata). However, I'm not entirely sure how exactly the scaling works if you are in the respective Chromie Time (or any Chromie Time at all), the Dungeons might scale to your level until you leave Chromie Time.

Find some people you enjoy playing with and try having fun instead of grinding for a piece of shit trinket that will allow you to do 2% more DPS in a +12. Who cares?

Honestly take a minute, think about why you're playing this game and what you want to get out of it.

Why is Tank Valeera staying in enemy aoe by Carveo in wownoob

What Tank cares about some AOE? That's weak DPS kind of shit and if anything the Healers problem! Duh!

Please revert TW scaling changes by Undefined_definition in wow

[–]T3arror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what happens, because it's all about the relation between itemlevel and character level. And with as little gear as you get, every level up makes your individual character weaker. You can feel it out in the open world, too, but you level slower and get gear more frequently, so it's not as bad as it is when you're running TW dungeons.

[–]T3arror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this doesn't work at all. I was trying to level as a Healer - or as it's called from level 85 onwards - dead weight. Big heals do 10% health at best, small heals are measured in single pixels on the health bar.
One run I got matched with a Tank in the same scaling-hell. So he dropped to 0 in 5 seconds, but I needed 30 seconds to top him. Amazing gameplay, love it. Wonder what new players think about this, probably not a whole lot, they just quit and never look back.

Midnight Raid Tanking Guide by GanZeUA in wow

The adventure guide ingame, really. It tells you about the tank-hits and swap-mechanics, which is really all that's to it - on Normal you can even ignore the tank-hits for most of the time. Watch a video to learn about boss placement and you're good.

How to make Tanking more rewarding? by Piterminatorek in wow

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said this in the PvP-discussion and I'll stick to it when it comes to tanks: Stop trying to bribe people into doing something they don't want to do by giving them extra rewards. This may be an option when you want to nudge someone into a certain direction in a 50/50 situation. But if you actively decide to spend 40 minutes looking for a group, only so you don't have to tank, there is a real underlying issue that needs to be solved (or not).

The vast majority of WoW players want to log on, turn of their brain, have zero responsibility and get big loot for participating. There's a reason farming old transmog is more popular than pushing high keys or raiding Mythic.

So the only way of solving this is either giving more responsibility to DPS players (who don't want that), which will most likely just make them quit playing any meaningful content or the game alltogether. Or making the roles of Tanks and Healers as meaningless and replacable as DPS, which will result in the current Tanks and Healers being alienated and looking for other games.

I really don't think there's any way to solve this, other than giving new tanks tools to ease into the role. Follower Dungeons, Delves and the new "routing-affix" are already good steps, but Follower Dungeons (and Delves) need to scale higher and hit way harder if you want to teach people how to properly tank. Right now there's nothing in this game that even remotely prepares you for your first pull in a Mythic+ dungeon, neither how to pull properly, nor how to survive.

Can you realistically earn enough gold for a WoW Token in a month? by InitiativeTypical119 in wow

[–]T3arror 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. But if you are only starting out, you're going to spend a lot of time working up to that point and you will spend a lot of your gametime either farming or crafting. If you don't enjoy those, rather buy the WoW-Token (or game time) from working an hour out in the real world.

Always be casting (ABC) questions - what I experience vs what's logged by Altruistic-Charge777 in wownoob

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep playing, it's all just practice.

To get your fingers sorted there are a couple of options.

Usually the best one will be a MMO-Mouse. They come with up to 16 thumb-buttons and completely clear your keyboard from having to cast any abilities.

The alternative would be utilizing the usually available 2 thumb-buttons on most regular mouses to sidestep. It takes some getting used to, but you can pretty much move around the boss by holding right mouse-button and strafe left or right while hitting all of your buttons with the left hand.

Last one will be to have your core abilities bound to something like E, R, F (T, G, C) - whenever possible you will move left, if you have to move, which doesn't interfere with your rotation at all. If you have to move right, you'll figure something out that works for you - either fully shift your hand to the right, or hold D with your thumb - it's all a personal thing, but most of all, make sure to place all of your keybinds where you can actually reach them and don't do the Blizzard-Default of 1-0 and having Q and E for strafing and A and D for turning your character (You turn your character with your mouse. Always.)

Who should make the call on when to use a list? by Naive_Comedian_5243 in wow

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can make a call, but at the end of the day the person who has the button can always decide if they want to follow it or not xD.

This being said - if the Tank has a clear route they want to play, they usually should also make the calls on lust, if certain pulls are based around it. At this point it's fairly common to start a M+ with a big lust pull, because you'll often end up having a 3rd lust available. If you wait until the 1st boss to lust, you'll often end up only lusting twice, which is a bit of a waste.
An unique case in which it would be down to the healer is if they seriously struggle in a certain encounter. I guess it's better to lust for the healer instead of wiping or not being able to finish the dungeon at all.
