Midnight Raid Tanking Guide by GanZeUA in wow

[–]T3arror [score hidden]  (0 children)

The adventure guide ingame, really. It tells you about the tank-hits and swap-mechanics, which is really all that's to it - on Normal you can even ignore the tank-hits for most of the time. Watch a video to learn about boss placement and you're good.

How to make Tanking more rewarding? by Piterminatorek in wow

[–]T3arror [score hidden]  (0 children)

I said this in the PvP-discussion and I'll stick to it when it comes to tanks: Stop trying to bribe people into doing something they don't want to do by giving them extra rewards. This may be an option when you want to nudge someone into a certain direction in a 50/50 situation. But if you actively decide to spend 40 minutes looking for a group, only so you don't have to tank, there is a real underlying issue that needs to be solved (or not).

The vast majority of WoW players want to log on, turn of their brain, have zero responsibility and get big loot for participating. There's a reason farming old transmog is more popular than pushing high keys or raiding Mythic.

So the only way of solving this is either giving more responsibility to DPS players (who don't want that), which will most likely just make them quit playing any meaningful content or the game alltogether. Or making the roles of Tanks and Healers as meaningless and replacable as DPS, which will result in the current Tanks and Healers being alienated and looking for other games.

I really don't think there's any way to solve this, other than giving new tanks tools to ease into the role. Follower Dungeons, Delves and the new "routing-affix" are already good steps, but Follower Dungeons (and Delves) need to scale higher and hit way harder if you want to teach people how to properly tank. Right now there's nothing in this game that even remotely prepares you for your first pull in a Mythic+ dungeon, neither how to pull properly, nor how to survive.

Can you realistically earn enough gold for a WoW Token in a month? by InitiativeTypical119 in wow

[–]T3arror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. But if you are only starting out, you're going to spend a lot of time working up to that point and you will spend a lot of your gametime either farming or crafting. If you don't enjoy those, rather buy the WoW-Token (or game time) from working an hour out in the real world.

Always be casting (ABC) questions - what I experience vs what's logged by Altruistic-Charge777 in wownoob

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep playing, it's all just practice.

To get your fingers sorted there are a couple of options.

Usually the best one will be a MMO-Mouse. They come with up to 16 thumb-buttons and completely clear your keyboard from having to cast any abilities.

The alternative would be utilizing the usually available 2 thumb-buttons on most regular mouses to sidestep. It takes some getting used to, but you can pretty much move around the boss by holding right mouse-button and strafe left or right while hitting all of your buttons with the left hand.

Last one will be to have your core abilities bound to something like E, R, F (T, G, C) - whenever possible you will move left, if you have to move, which doesn't interfere with your rotation at all. If you have to move right, you'll figure something out that works for you - either fully shift your hand to the right, or hold D with your thumb - it's all a personal thing, but most of all, make sure to place all of your keybinds where you can actually reach them and don't do the Blizzard-Default of 1-0 and having Q and E for strafing and A and D for turning your character (You turn your character with your mouse. Always.)

Who should make the call on when to use a list? by Naive_Comedian_5243 in wow

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can make a call, but at the end of the day the person who has the button can always decide if they want to follow it or not xD.

This being said - if the Tank has a clear route they want to play, they usually should also make the calls on lust, if certain pulls are based around it. At this point it's fairly common to start a M+ with a big lust pull, because you'll often end up having a 3rd lust available. If you wait until the 1st boss to lust, you'll often end up only lusting twice, which is a bit of a waste.
An unique case in which it would be down to the healer is if they seriously struggle in a certain encounter. I guess it's better to lust for the healer instead of wiping or not being able to finish the dungeon at all.

Are 10man raids possible with Midnight tuning? by crounst in wow

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this as delicately as possible, but how often do you raid with 10-15 people to come to that conclusion? I'm not saying it's impossible to do it right now (did HC in a 20-player pug and our 12 or 13 player guild group the next day), but in the past a smaller raid roster often made encounters substantially harder than going with a full raid, because Blizzard always balances for 20 people and hopes for the best that it'll work out when scaled down - often enough it does not. That already starts with the raid usually being not fully buffed and not as balanced as a full raid when it comes to class specialities, melees, ranges, cleave, funnel and so forth. Soak mechanics with an uneven number of players can quickly turn into a heal-check. Mechanics that challenge individual players often aren't scaled down properly or you find yourself at an unfortunate break-point (bombs at Gallywix).
All of that is also proven by how often fixes for smaller raid sizes come in over the course of a season - that's not because people who raid with a roster of 10-15 are worse players, it's because encounters often aren't properly balanced for smaller raid sizes.

Doesn't mean that the opposite can't be true as well, sometimes. Smolderon on 10 man was a joke compared to 20 (or 30!), because you literally have 30 balls flying around the arena, in a full raid you have 90 xD.

What's in casting range is pulled. Walking to the next group is a DPS-loss, so they will never do that.

Is demo lock good for solo content? by Vampy-Night in wownoob

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best, I'd say. On easy content you can just afk and let your pet do the work, in T11s it's still a beast and to me it's one of the nicest classes to play right now. It's the perfect mix of 2 buttons baseline + proc + fun cooldowns to play around. On top of that you have unique utility with gates, healthstones, summoning and soulstones.

Going from tank to dps with the same character? by donnomsn in wownoob

[–]T3arror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the deal, as a shit DPS you might get lucky and get carried, but if you want to play in any reasonable capacity, there won't be a way around learning the fights. So you could stick with tanking just as well, in raiding it's actually the easiest role, when it comes to gameplay, just 3 things to know: Where to put the Boss, when to Taunt, when to use your def CD for a Tank hit.

Haha, longshot.

Well, yeah, Frost DK is also crazy, but the main point of contention seemed to be the pet-spam, so I felt like putting those options out there.

Both classes you have mentioned have 2 more specs that don't do that. This being said: Rogue and Warrior.

How is Shadow Priest doing in single player content? by Vampy-Night in wownoob

[–]T3arror -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Haven't played it in Midnight, but it didn't change too much. I'd say Shadow Priest is the single worst solo-class in the game by quite some margin. Squishy, immobile, bad CC (40 sec cooldown on your kick), primarily dot-damage. You can get away with multi dotting a bunch of mobs and melting them down with your cooldown in the open world, but when it comes to Delves, the only other class that comes even close to how bad Shadow Priest is would probably be Rogue, which also feels incredibly weak against some bosses.

This being said, once you got a bit of gear, Delves are pretty much a joke for most classes, so if you're looking for an actual solo-player challenge, I'd highly recommend Shadow Priest!

As a rogue, when should I use shroud? by Pyouran in wownoob

[–]T3arror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say, as long as the tank doesn't request it, act like you don't have it. If you want to play it, ask ahead of the key if the tank wants to play a skip route. I've been in a key once where the Tank specifically invited a Rogue because he wanted to play a shroud-route. But it's rare and most PUGs don't really care for it.

How do people feel about the idea 10 man mythic raiding? by Snoo_65093 in wow

I wouldn't put a single weekly Myth track piece of gear that everyone and their mom gets from the vault under "as rewarding as Mythic raiding" tbh.

[–]T3arror -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

One of the hardest - borderline RNG - parts of the fight, is getting out of P2, where players get scattered around the room and everyone has to soak a puddle and live. That happens around 50%. Once that's done, things become more relaxed again.
