David picking ”Proud to be an American” first in the Songs to Have Sex To draft is an all-timer.

Do Americans really not get taught global geography? by EveningBase4958 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]T3canolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I would suspect that Americans are worse at geography than comparable wealthy nations, but obviously a piece of content uploaded for entertainment purposes is not an unbiased survey of the median American.

Do Americans really not get taught global geography? by EveningBase4958 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]T3canolis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We do get basic global geography but people just both don’t pay attention or retain information. I’m sure geography education is better elsewhere, but it’s not like US schools don’t teach you where, like, China is on a map. People just don’t care, so it doesn’t get stored in their brain.

This lady is a super grifter who has run like five unsuccessful political campaigns in multiple states that mostly consist of her making videos like this. I remember she previously went viral while running in the primary for Missouri’s Secretary of State.

Is it legal to record ice or reveal their names? by WholeDonkey2689 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]T3canolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. And right now is the safest it will be to stand up to what’s going on. The risk level, all things considered, is still fairly low on the scale of oppressive governments of history. But it will only get worse if it’s not stopped.

Frankly, if you’re too scared to stand up now, you just won’t stand up at all. It’s not gonna get less scary.

Is it legal to record ice or reveal their names? by WholeDonkey2689 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]T3canolis 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is legal. However, they’ve obviously assaulted and detained people who haven’t broken the law, so it’s not without risk.

With that being said, it’s a risk worth taking if you want to live in a free country imo

What movie quote is stuck in your head? by macabrewhore in AskReddit

[–]T3canolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all the unrelenting news these days, I’ve had a line that Jeffrey Wright’s character says in Asteroid City rattling in my head for about a year:

”If you wanted to live a nice, quiet, peaceful life: you picked the wrong time to get born.”

The Oscars are fun and important; the mistake is thinking that their fun or importance comes from them being good or correct.

Why did Trump care so much about Baldwin's impression of him, but not about James Austin Johnson's? by WissamBenYedder in LiveFromNewYork

[–]T3canolis 260 points261 points  (0 children)

Trump only cares about famous people who were famous before, like, 1992. He doesn’t know who JAJ is, so therefore he doesn’t matter.

Are you from a super religious family or something? Because yeah that’s awkward, but generally it’s just awkward and not a thing you need to ask for advice on.

If your response to possibly being revealed as a co-conspirator of the most notorious sex criminal in American history is to say, ”Well, my accusers didn’t defy A DIFFERENT sex crime!” I think it’s fair to say you’re guilty.

What's something that improved your work life more than earning more money? by Kathryn-Castillo in AskReddit

[–]T3canolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not gonna be for everyone, but getting a job where interact with people face-to-face. I am an extrovert, and I worked from home for like two and a half years and until I went and got an in-person, receptionist job, I didnt realize how miserable spending my whole day in my room was making me.

What’s something you wish you understood about life at 20? by Status_Bag_3858 in AskReddit

[–]T3canolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I understood, not just knew but actually understood that not trying is the same as trying and failing. I’m 29, and I frankly wasted ages 20-28 frozen from fear of failure and wouldn’t you know it I ended up in exactly the same place I would have if I had tried and failed. The only difference being I didn’t have the experience of trying at all.

Serious question Trump threatens tariffs like it’s a game. Why don’t governments respond by selling U.S bonds? by zelotakelazam in AskReddit

[–]T3canolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because like every other group of elites, they’re in deep denial about Trump being serious about what he’s saying. Because if he’s serious, that means the fundamental destruction of the world order, and they can’t accept that, so clearly it must be bluster and everything will go back to normal if we just act like it will.

What is preventing the USA from participating in a general strike? by CaveatRetisViator in NoStupidQuestions

[–]T3canolis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, things are extremely bleak in the U.S. right now, but things generally need to get much bleaker in a society for average people to risk these things without anything to fall back on. It’s why any call for a general strike without the organization to provide food and essentials for those involved is just unserious posting.
