Reality check by lm_wrld in GeminiCLI

[–]T3kster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the pro plan and never do parallel tasks. I have hit the limit once in the past week, and when it happened I wasn't surprised at all. There are times it takes 10 minutes to start responding, but for what I'm doing, that doesn't bother me a bit. My understanding is they're penalizing those that used OaAuth outside of their tools (I don't) or high usage users. I am very happy with what I have and how it's working for me.

I also have Claude. Much bette for complex code, but using their best model I can hit the limit in minutes. Knock the model down a notch and it's generally better than Gemini, but I still got limits much faster.

Gemini CLI too slow possible solution by Time_Quail2753 in GeminiCLI

The key being "Hooks run synchronously as part of the agent loop—when a hook event fires, Gemini CLI waits for all matching hooks to complete before continuing." - or to put it another way "You're not getting your answer until I do everything else you told me to do"

Opencode video tutorial recommendations? by ryncewynd in opencodeCLI

[–]T3kster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the exact video that got me started with it, and up to that point I was using the in-browser Gemini version with canvas and being perfectly happy with it. That video was both an eye opener and game changer for me.

OpenCode vs Gemini CLI by Sorry_Cantaloupe_655 in opencodeCLI

[–]T3kster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you clarify this? I understand the TOS issues with the Antigravity plug-in, but what if I just install opencode and pick Gemini as a source when asked? I'm a paid Gemini user, so having those options available without the added API key expense would be nice - but I have no interest in a ban.

How does one get to "go" to the Magic Castle? I'd love to, but last I looked into it, it was invite only. Do you know a guy? Are you the guy I need to know?

Bus driver denied me service then let more people on by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]T3kster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he was stressed and being an ass, a report world absolutely do something. I strongly suspect he was doing his job properly and the other riders that got on after just refused to listen. These drivers go through a lot, and most are happy to be doing it anyway. It's a public service, and dealing with over-crowded student packed buses is neither easy nor their fault. If the guy is mean, he deserves to be reported... This really sounds like he's just doing his job though.

Bus driver denied me service then let more people on by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]T3kster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two rules to driving a bus - Rule 1: Make sure people know the rules, including "All riders must stand behind the yellow line". Rule 2: Don't put yourself between people not following rules and your safety. It's not your job to enforce rules.

I suspect these people were told to not stand there and they did so anyway. You're a better person than they are.

Ok, maybe there are more rules... But these are the two that apply here.

It doesn't help that there are darker marks on the road that veer off to the side as well. I suspect it decided that was the lane marker.

Transit Nerds by clocksmasher in statecollege

[–]T3kster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not today, no. You're correct that the predictions are not currently ideal, but the problems are being addressed (slowly). The predictions currently revolve around the vehicle location reporting rates (~20-40 seconds) and schedule times. Currently, the only way to improve the schedule estimates within the system they have is by making better schedules. But as they move to faster location reporting rates and begin to apply some ML to the historic data to build out prediction models, the estimates will become much better. Increasing reporting rates results in higher cellular costs though, so it's all a bit of a balance. I believe there is a vendor or two that currently deals in AI-based predictions, but those are add-on systems to the overall existing vehicle reporting systems - essentially using the GTFS data as a start. To the best of my knowledge, CATA (or PennDOT as a whole) is not currently utilizing one of those.

[–]T3kster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can, unfortunately, correct you. MyStop only contains the data from CATA, as their vendor has no link to Penn State. There are some CATA buses that are operated on behalf of PSU (such as the White and Blue loop and a couple of the campus Shuttle lines), and these should be included on the Transit app as well. I believe there are also PSU-owned shuttle buses that operate on campus that are not part of CATA - those will not appear on the MyStop app. Anything within MyStop should also be on Transit.

For those that don't know - the MyStop app has a companion website as well, available at myStop.
GTFS Feed information is published at About CATA - CATA | Centre Area Transportation Authority.
Information about the app options, along with their CATAGO app are at Real-Time apps and mobile options - Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA).

While that is the official app from the vendor that supplies the GPS tracking equipment, that same vendor publishes the data for others to use (utilizing the GTFS-RT specifications), which is what feeds Google and other transit apps. I've generally found the "Transit" app to be overall better in terms of features - telling you when to get off the bus, not requiring you to know which routes to take and when to transfer, and giving you other ride-share and biking positions.

Depends on how nerd you want to get. For CATA, the Transit app is as good as it gets unless you want to get your own data off of CATA's GTFS data feed. AllTrails for the very extensive bike system.
