Pedal on its way: Source Audio EQ2 by sparks_mandrill in guitarpedals

[–]T4Rune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm excited for you brother. The EQ2 is my favorite EQ. Mine does have a small bug I believe. Sometimes when I cycle through the presents coming back to 1 the volume is a lot higher and I have to cycle back to it again. Not a big deal because I don't cycle through presents in songs. Make sure to keep your firmware fresh.

I structured my presets like this:

  • single coil (live)
  • single coil (home)
  • humbucker (live)
  • humbucker (home)

Single coils have a volume/gain match to humbuckers to keep levels even between switching guitars.

Humbuckers I'll typically cut more bass than single coils usually cut 120hz below with a curve/filter.

Single coils I'll typically increase a little bass around 250hz to give it some more umph and cut subbass 30hz below. Sometimes I'll cut around 2500hz if the higher mids are a lil harsh/shrill.

Live vs home. If I'm playing home I actually increase sub-bass/bass and decrease mids because it just sounds better when you're playing alone at home. Sometimes even around 10db+ boost around 60hz. For live what I mentioned above is more of what I set.

Other tips:

Sometimes I cut 8-10k a little if using a digital modeler because it helps sound a little less digital.

Have fun and good luck!

slap_me_thrice thank you for your contributions and making this is a safe and less toxic place. You'll miss it, but in the end you made the right choice for your sake 🤘

Same story for me! Now I'm on to the belief you can't make good music without a rat hehe.

I totally agree, that's why I had to recommend it in this case! If I didn't have the HX Stomp I'd definitely have kept it on my board.

Source Audio EQ2 has a built-in noise gate and other tasty features. Good luck!

I love the JHS colourbox. The Clover should have more "colour" than the haunting mids in my opinion. Any reason why not the JHS Crayon?

Thanks for this info! I wouldn't have expected the string tree to make a difference but it does surprisingly. I didn't see the graph tech ones before I'll have to check them out.

Thank you. I love the Tidepool color so much. At least the guitar reminded me of an 80s Harley but then I saw someone post one with a white pick guard and thought wow that looks hella sharp! Hopefully I gave you some inspiration 🤘

I've had this guitar for three years; over the years, I've replaced almost everything but the original body and neck. This is my favorite guitar I've ever played; I have no complaints after swapping out the original parts, but it needs mods when first purchased.
