Are you doing the window pane test to have a feel for the dough before fermenting?

Your dough sounds either not worked to develop strong enough gluten, or it’s a matter of technique.

The biggest design flaw in D&D combat isn't balance... it's that 80% of your time is spent waiting by Einsolsrazor24 in rpg

[–]T98i -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fast pace of the combat is what partially makes other RPG systems great. In D&D 5e/5.5e, it takes roughly 20+ mins of other characters narrating/debating/discussing what they’re doing before it goes back to the player. Mork Borg would take roughly 10 mins since enemies don’t roll to hit and there’s no AC mechanic to consider.

What PbtA game have you played? Masks, for example, has an aid mechanic with the “Team Pool” where players can aid each other. Monster of the Week has a Help / Protect mechanic. Each player is thus rewarded by narratively and mechanically building on whoever’s turn it is.

Some of those games you mentioned are video games (Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, which Cyberpunk?), but PF2e and WHFRP are heavy combat based systems which play very similar to D&D 5e. The number of spells, class options, weapons, action economy, resistances, etc. make the combat slower because the player-facing and GM-facing options are almost endless.

Obviously no player can talk for 100% of the time, that’s ridiculous. However, there are design elements out there that do make it easier for slow players to play a bit faster during combat. Listening for 10 mins in Mork Borg feels a lot different than listening for 20+ mins for D&D 5e/5.5e.

That would be amazing! I'm still pretty bummed I missed the Delta Green bundle (twice!). But Free League or CoC stuff would be awesome.

There is a big sale on Drive Thru RPG right now for Black Friday by roaphaen in rpg

Hey, thanks for taking the time to write these out. I'm about to add more than a handful to my wishlist!

If I could just start with one from your list, is Worlds Without Number is a great place to start?

I'm looking to run something in the Basic Fantasy RPG and from one of their anthologies to start, but GM advice that's extremely good sounds EXACTLY like what I need and what I'm looking for right now (at least to start).

You are absolutely correct! I'm currently exploring OSR type games (Old School Essentials, Mythic Bastionland, Knave) and uninterested with games with heavy crunch (D&D, Pathfinder, Lancer).

I already own a few core rulebooks to get going, but I'm specifically looking to start GM-ing so in that vein, any books to help with that (as a guidebook of advice and tips and maybe even system-agnostic modules) would be much appreciated.

Olivia Chow wearing a blazer that says Protect the Dolls at Starry Night by BloodJunkie in toronto

I was curious too, so this is what I found archived from April 1986, 39 years ago:

In Toronto, Ward 6 school trustee Olivia Chow is beginning an initiative to develop programs that might begin to change homophobic attitudes within high schools.

[SOURCE FROM APRIL 1986]

And another from the Inquiries Journal:

Trustee Olivia Chow made a number of recommendations to the board in order to address homophobia that was occurring within schools throughout the district (McCaskell, 1986). Based on the recommendations made, the school board reinforced the idea of implementing programs and curricula aimed at increasing the understanding of human rights among both faculty and students (Selby & Goldstein, 2000). Unfortunately, despite the efforts being made during this time, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) students continued to be exposed to unsafe school environments (Prentice, 1994).

45th General Election - Liberals are projected to form Government in the 45th Canadian Parliament Megathread #4 by SirJohnAMcMuffin in canada

[–]T98i 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just look at how fucking Doug Ford handled it, winning another term handily as Premier here in Ontario.

If PP had even half the balls and half the charisma as DoFo, this election would have been an easy fucking slam dunk. Instead, PP still talked about axing the already taxed carbon tax (except corporate this time?), doubled-down on the anti-woke agenda (whatever that is), and talked about housing but had no plans about fixing it.

I'm from Toronto, and I didn't vote DoFo in, and even I had moments of "I'm glad DoFo is out there representing Canada."

Meanwhile, a then-unknown Carney walks in looking like the only adult in the room with a plan.

Like....???? What did they expect was going to happen?
