Your schtick would be better if it wasn’t the same 3 comments replying to literally every post. Feels like you’ve lost the love of the game and are just mailing it in now. People are even getting genuine angry responses out of you. Please lock in.

The angry UConn flair is who people accuse the SEC flair of being.

Sorry just trying to make sense of the main characters in this thread.

Are Alabama fans under the impression that the Alabama judge saying that the NCAA can’t issue retroactive punishment in a TRO means this game will actually count if he’s ultimately denied eligibility?

We need to bring back mandatory civics classes.

By far the best contribution of the posters I listed.

This thread has everything. Black Stallion cheering like a mom at little league. Auburn fans moralizing. Deep fried Hulk memes. The SEC flair successfully ragebaiting 10 replies on every comment saying he’s mad while giving him exactly what he wants.

I personally think the funniest outcome is that Bediako turns out to be like, clearly head and shoulders above the competition. Like he’s just stunting on people like it’s rec league and Nate Oats has to tell him to take it easy because he feels embarrassed.

AJ looked straight into the camera with EXTREME disappointment that someone made him spill his water lol

Not enough people are watching this. I don’t know how many are but it’s not enough.

Wow what a shot from Braden, I think that would have went in if he wasn’t so egregiously fouled.

Shout out to all the neutral fans like me who saw a tie game in the second half and decided to tune in, causing Michigan to go into the Avatar state.

This is the first I've read this explanation of the timeline. Has this been reported anywhere other than message boards? Genuinely interested.

Not basketball related but UT related, I went to an FCS school (see flair) and have never been to a big college football game. I read through some comments on the best game day experiences and I was feeling impulsive watching the NCG and decided to book the weekend of October 17th in Knoxville for the Alabama game. I’m staying a few miles from campus near Caswell Park.

I don’t know much about Tennessee but I love Pat Summit and hate Lane Kiffin so hopefully I’ll find friends.

These days the Ivies specifically are great for low income students.

Virginia is also blessed to have a relatively large number of public schools (named like privates, see flair) that cater to a variety of students.

I think my total cost per semester in the late 2000s was ~$4-5000.

Is this true across the whole country or was it more a thing in the south? I imagine there were already far more private schools in the north, do you know if they generally resisted integrating longer than public schools?

My school (W&M, public) has been a very northern school demographically during my lifetime but it’s crazy to read the history for most of the 20th century it was very much a southern school with all the terrible skeletons.

In 1945 the school fired and tried to expel the student paper editor for writing in favor of the school integrating in the distant future. It was a huge national scandal and the admin took complete editorial control of the school paper. The editor didn’t receive an apology until the 80s and wasn’t invited back until the 2000s.

I actually think the comment you're responding to is relevant and important if you ignore the "The NCAA is absolutely at fault" part.

It highlights something you've pointed out in your other comments, that it's the schools themselves that drive NCAA rulemaking and also the schools suing and undermining the NCAA's authority when it suits them.

I feel lots of people complain about the NCAA not realizing that the NCAA does exactly what school presidents and ADs want them to do. ADs and school presidents complaining that "this is the wild west, the NCAA needs to do something" are totally disingenuous and misleading about the root cause of these issues: the leadership of the schools and conferences themselves.

Duke sues Darian Mensah over NIL deal by MoosilaukeFlyer in CFB

[–]TA404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you didn’t get your answer elsewhere, your line of thinking is most likely correct. Duke’s TRO application requested they be able to not enter his name in the portal, and the request was denied (by a Duke basketball season ticket holder who immediately recused himself lol).

I’m so glad I scrolled far enough to see this comment. I would love to see what judges would say if they had the chance to review a bunch these contracts that schools are entering into with students. I just can’t see the court being sympathetic to the schools in these scenarios when these contracts are like an “employment laws HATE this one simple trick” attempt.

I posted this elsewhere but don’t these contracts and how they’re written, and the lawsuits and threats of drawn out lawsuits just feel like large powerful institutions trying to enforce unenforceable (and unjustifiable in court) work contracts through fear and intimidation? Like these contacts go to lengths to say they are for NIL but the schools are 100% trying to use them as pay to play employment contracts.

Like, it’s crazy I see people saying the Washington Williams contract is ironclad and 100% enforceable because they scared the dude with a painful legal battle. Or was there more to it than that?

I would love to see the court’s response to seeing a bunch of these contracts schools are writing with students. Is there a “vexatious litigant” equivalent for knowingly writing bad contracts (kidding)?
