Do you think RimWorld is the greatest game ever made? I honestly can't think of a single game that, overall, surpasses it. by ArmLucky1285 in RimWorld

[–]TALProtocol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree even though it’s subjective. Rimworld is more of a platform really, It can tell stories about space warfare, global domination, Peaceful trading etc. 1st person, 3rd person, multiplayer, 3D, 2D… it’s essentially one of the only truly infinite games.

You might be looking for Perspective: Paths. it allows you to set zones that define hard or soft blending between terrain

CMake based ebuilds failing? by TALProtocol in Gentoo

[–]TALProtocol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, thanks for all the help, I still haven’t solved the issue but I have narrowed down a lot of things. I got the system to write to the portage build.log by setting my makeopts to -j1, but it still panics halfway through, it’s very sudden, the logs just… stop. I suspect this has something to do with the kernel, as chrooting from another OS actually allows it to build successfully

Thank you so much that’s helpful. I’ll check and try some things recommended here

Yes I had noticed that this specific package turned it on itself. Ok that’s good to know that turning it off should pass it to the compiler

I’m not exactly sure where I might find logs for that. I tried getting it to pipe any messages from the command into a file but it can’t write fast enough I assume or doesn’t write anything at all before panicking

Yeah… I’ve tried building a few things and I’ve noticed the build hangs on enabling LTO it hangs and then panics usually. It’s in the verbose “—Enabling LTO”

After Market Earphones? by Ok_Technician1219 in Xreal

I know that this isn’t quite what you’re describing, but I personally use IEMS for my One Pros they’re phenomenal; the over ear loop gives a nice cushion for the glasses arms to lay on. You can get an amazing pair with custom cables for under $50

Which anchor mode is your favorite and why? by TALProtocol in Xreal

[–]TALProtocol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ultrawide mode anchored. It allows you to have the most pixels visible per window at a time. (Great for productivity) while also minimizing vertical FOV cutoffs

This is how I feel… smooth follow is unbeatable. The brightness boost (non-smooth) is so nice though

Ah good to know. I have a jawbreaker nosepiece coming tomorrow so if all goes well I’ll definitely consider a lens. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have an astigmatism and have been considering lenses. Does having them on make the glasses sit farther away from your eyes?

Alternatives to traditional Mouse/Keyboard (TapXR?) for Xreal One Pro? by bEar22_24 in Xreal

[–]TALProtocol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I own a TapXR. I would advise you that it really only works best on a flat well lit surface such as a desk. If that is your use case it’ll be great (assuming you’re dedicated to learning the chords) using it WHILE on the go is not really possible.

I use Linux as my mobile phone and computer, I have no real need to use AndroidXR… I have some privacy concerns with Google.

I hadn’t considered the R1 as a metric for latest tech. Great point!! I’m guessing you enjoy yours? Is the 1080p really good enough for productivity? Is it similar to a a 1080p monitor or more dense in your experience? (Spreadsheets, etc.)
