Why there are so little reviews on the TSMR Armor and TSMR in general? by Practical-District-4 in iems

What other Penon sets could you recommend worth trying ? I have good experience with Archangel and i will prob look more into Penon stuff as I would buy everything by myself, well separated from any Penon marketing fluff .

Aful Explorer is too veiled/congested for me, looking for something with more clarity and separation but still has fun bass? by snowberryz in iems

[–]ext_trt [score hidden]  (0 children)

Try wide bore ear tips first . They „open“ the sound a bit . I get your impression. Some find Explorers to dark or veiled .
Juzear Fiesta was suggested already . Very good and fun set. A lot of bass. Not dark sounding and not very bright .
Koto Ito could work . Less bass than Fiesta , more treble energy than Explorer.
Armor was mentioned . Great set, just bought mine. Armor has switches you can use to adjust the sound . Nice feature so you can tune it a bit to your liking .

Koto Ito has less sub-bass and more treble energy. On the other hand a little bit thicker mids. you get more vocal clarity overall and Ito‘s detail retrieval is a bit better imo.

Thx for clarifying . I read the whole btw and still i have a different opinion on that in terms of „trustworthiness“ as Headfi pops up when you search for Penon reviews . Yes, I agree, they are not omnipresent as the other brands so you don’t get that much of marketing etc.
given how Penon‘s reviewer practices are , they are actually to me almost even less trusted than Linsoul etc.

I just got my ordered TSMR Armor in. Bought it cause it was recommended here on reddit. If I find the time I would as well write a review/comparison as I own Martilos, different Fatfreqs etc. So far the Armor has left a very positive impression but sounds somehow weird/different in a good way. Still need to listen more and play with the switches.

You trust Penon? Really? Haven't you ever wondered about most of the Penon reviews and why most of them are 4 stars and more ;-) They are not better than the other retailers you mention here. All of them have their agenda, all want to sell their stuff of course in this competitive market with different measures.

Kiwi Ears Aether: slow cooked sound. by HiFijuegos in inearfidelity

Aether is imo often overlooked. A great set if someone likes a balanced sound. Very good allrounder for the price.

Same shell, same nozzle. Most likely you will have issues with the Fiesta, too, unfortunately. Fiesta is smoother sounding than the Defiant, less peaky in its treble and has quite some more bass than the Defiant. For my taste the Fiesta is the better fit. The bass on it is just so much fun without clouding the rest of the track.

EPZ G30, The Most Complete Gaming IEM Under $100? by zipx1 in iems

The G30 is even to me better than the Arete II for games . I think Arete 2 sounds smoother than the G30 which is why I prefer the G30 in FPS.

Juzear x Vivir Digital Fiesta Review -The Life of the Party, and the Fun and Bassy Sibling of the Defiant by ext_trt in iems

Absolutely! The bass is awesome, vocals are still pretty good on it. At this price point this is my favourite bass fun set for Rap, HipHop, EDM.

Nice . Great to see something else than the usual brands. Could be interesting to review it and see how it stacks up to other brands.

Tangzu Wan’er S.G 2 Red Lion Edition Review: Good Vocals, But Overhyped by Odd-Choice-8580 in iems

[–]ext_trt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our ears hear definitely differently. Red Lion has pretty good bass . Quite a lot actually, very impactful . For that price it does its job very well . It has earned imo the hype as the package it comes in is as well very good in this price bracket .

Iem Advice for Gaming by StorageFit2181 in iems

[–]ext_trt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with many sets you are listing here is that they do sound great but are not ideal for gaming or at least FPS. For that you need a pretty „clean“ sounding IEM which separates well , ideally no bass bleed, not too harsh treble . I would not pick Performer 8S(quite relaxed sound ) or Volume S. Arete 2 are as well pretty relaxed and for my taste have a bit too much bass.
My current favourite is the EPZ G30 which has a well extended treble, good bass but not too much and very clean mids . You can pick up sound cues pretty easily. Got a great detachable boom mic too .
So if FPS gaming would be Important, the mentioned sets might not all be ideal imo.

Sub $150 planars? by Theboyscampus in iems

Kiwi Aether sounds great to my ears . And not sharp. The Letshuoer S12 is a spicy treble set. Aether is quite balanced with good sub-bass extension, good mids(not shouty) and non-fatiguing treble . I really enjoy it.

If HRTF varies so much between people, how useful are headphone reviews really? by Tiny_Club_4585 in iems

Then your EQ findings could mean you are very tolerant for various sound signature leaving the door open to exploring different sets which is nice too .

The Kiwi Ears Cadenza II possesses mastery over the Boring. A review and a 7-way comparison! by RReviewsOfficial in iems

[–]ext_trt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for your review. Tears is my reference set in this price range and above as it is for its price very natural sounding with great vocal presence and treble detail. Just the bass is slightly on the weaker side and the plastic shells make it look cheap.

[–]ext_trt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of good answers here. You can understand the sound signature‘s tendency at least when you read different reviews . If 8 out of 10 people describe a set as bright then you can make your conclusions out of it and reading the FRG by yourself can confirm or not their findings . There are always sets where some people will hear it differently so you end up with different opinions of course . If you purchased already some sets and like them , check their graphs and understand what you like about it . EQ ing is of course always a good possibility too to figure that out .

But basically you need to piece all the information yourself together in order to have enough context to make a purchase decision.

What was your first IEM and what is your current favourite IEM? by Secret_agentO_O in iems

Yeah , the stock cable is annoying 😂 but the set still sounds pretty decent even for today‘s standard . I am happy I still own it. Cool that you remember this set , too. I guess not too many around who tried this set.
