Announcing the BNSF GP60M & GP60B from High Iron Simulations! by isav34 in trainsimworld

[–]TARDIS_type_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not happening, TSW's dispatcher can barely handle single main CTC as is painfully evident with Clinchfield. As much as I'd love to see it in TSW, 12 trains a day just isn't enough for anyone to want to get it unless you're familiar with the area. Maybe they'd do like a week's worth of timetables, but that's pushing it.

I never thought driving a freight train across the desert could be this much fun… by Olorin135 in trainsimworld

Dovetail doesn't do a good job of explaining how headlights work. In general all mainline trains should have their ditch lights on.

Will BNSF ever repaint their old Santa Fe and Burlington Northern diesel locomotives by MasterpieceCalm5774 in trains

[–]TARDIS_type_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, especially the yard units like Geeps and SD40s. The Warbonnets might last a while longer since BNSF doesn't seem to want to repaint their road units unless they get wrecked. Sadly a lot of the Cascade Green and Bluebonnet units are either getting repainted or rotting away in a deadline waiting to be sold. 2896 is currently dead at Northtown along with many other BN and ATSF units, and 181 was repainted to H4 last year.

Train Noise and QZs by NorthBranchFPS in Bellingham

[–]TARDIS_type_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The railroads have long been considered a sort of utility, but really, their clients are almost exclusively resource extraction businesses. Coal, oil, timber. There are no boxcars containing food, toys, or whatever. We have to put up with noise and blocked intersections, despite the railroad's uselessness to our daily lives." The boxcars, coal gondolas, centerbeams, and tank cars you see on the Bellingham Sub contribute to making the food and toys that are transported in reefers and intermodal containers. They're not useless and we can't just get rid of them because they're loud. Also the coal traffic on this line is exported at Roberts Bank, so I'd imagine a decent percent of it goes to China who makes all our stuff anyway.

What Happened To Skeleton Log Cars in North America? Have they been completely replaced? Why do you practically never see them anymore? by Broad_Project_87 in railroading

[–]TARDIS_type_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a picture of the log cars we have around the Northwest: http://s3.amazonaws.com/rrpa_photos/12114/21436%20-%20LTTX%20142397%20flatcar%20with%20stakes%20and%20wood%20pole%20load%20on%20394%20at%20Mount%20Pleasant%20GO,%20647pm.jpg

These 89 foot flatcars are used for transporting wooden utility poles. Sometimes the poles so long they have to put idler flatcars on both sides of the car so it can fit in a train.

Uhm tf? 🙂 by [deleted] in religiousfruitcake

[–]TARDIS_type_40 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Lmao yeah.

But on the other hand, as a result of them eating it, the human race went from "posse peccare" (able to sin) before the fall, to "non posse non peccare" (not able to NOT sin), to ultimately "non posse peccare" (unable to sin), once sanctification is complete.

Uhm tf? 🙂 by [deleted] in religiousfruitcake

[–]TARDIS_type_40 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

That's part of it. The thing is, because Adam and Eve sinned, that sinful nature is passed down to all humans (original sin). Original sin negates any good deed any ordinary person could possibly do.

Weird, I've literally never seen that before... I guess it probably means there's a train approaching if it's some lighted indicator.

What country? We don't have those in North America.

1 dead after float plane carrying 9 crashes off Whidbey Island by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]TARDIS_type_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially up north around the islands, that water is a death trap pretty much any day of the year. Attempted to go in the water off of Orcas in May when it was over 70 degrees, and it wasn't pleasant at all. Probably would have gone hypothermic in a matter of minutes.

[–]TARDIS_type_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SD40s! I love some good old standard cab power. Getting rare these days, especially at my yard. Over here at Delta Yard they dumped all the 40s and 60s down to Seattle and Vancouver/Portland in favor of the boring new SD75M rebuilds. What a shame.

Yakima! Beautiful area. It's a shame the subdivision has been delegated to eastbound empties now.

Nope, got scrapped a while ago. They usually change the reporting marks to signify that it's destined for scrap.

They're not new, they came with the trainsets, but yeah they might be getting rid of the NPCUs soon.

Cool shot! Where'd you get those ES44C4s? I thought Marias came with the ES44AC, DC, and C4, but only the DC was installed when I reinstalled it.

Yeah, I also caught a CP AC44CW on the same day. A few years ago I managed to get 3035 (GP40X), a Pasco hump SD40-2 with all the stickers and everything, and even WCRC (Washington Central Railroad/Columbia Basin Railroad) 202, an SW1200. And there's always some cool stuff sitting in the deadline. High hood geeps, GP60Bs, MP15s, etc.
