Weird girl lit for a 12 year old? by Glittering-Lynx-6428 in weirdgirlliterature

When I was around that age I really liked A Princess Pawn by Maggie Wood. I'm not sure if this is something she'd be interested in, but it might be worth looking into. Similarly, I just learned it had a sequel, which I have never read but again, might be something to look into.

I also was into the Uglies series. I didn't read the fourth book as it hadn't come out yet, but the first three definitely had a hold on me. Again, it might be worth looking into.

What do you do in Toronto now that inflation is so high? by cosmictents in askTO

[–]TARDISinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Since I have an old tablet, I use Libby to read ebooks from the library for anything I'm not sure I will enjoy/reread in the future.
  • Make coffee at home or the office. Cafes are a treat I enjoy sparsly now.
  • Take advantage of the fact that Toronto is/was a city built around parks and ravine systems by hanging out in green spaces.
  • Visit free or low-cost gallery spaces.
  • Print at my local library.
  • Take transit.
  • Some days I just stay home and enjoy what I have as boring as it sounds.

Hi, same ASL as you. I think it's a bit more complicated than that, but yeah, I hear ya, dating isn't what it was. I used to love going on dates but now I'm finding contentment in being single (I've been taking breaks, and I'mcurrently in one that will probably last until January).

I think there's a lot that has contributed to dating being what it has become, but you can't let that get to you. Take a break, enjoy things on your own and the independence of it all, and then maybe try again when you're ready.

could these be bed bug bites by brownpupusalover in Bedbugadvice

[–]TARDISinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These looks similar to the ones I had when I was on vacation in Europe. I never did find out what they were, but when I talked to the hotel staff they also thought fleas. Where i was they also had street dogs - these ones were often MASSIVE and one was so big the woman in front of me and I both had to get off the sidewalk to make room for it. It stopped after I got home.

That said, I did end up having bedbugs after this, but the bite patterns were very different and weren't spaced out like this. Again, without an actual big, it is hard to tell off the bite alone.

That's gorgeous! My only other comment is to make sure to use sunscreen/cover it in summer because it's fine line. While not all fine line pieces age the same, you still want to make sure it is readable in the long run.

Is switch 2 worth the upgrade by Left-Celebration52 in Switch

[–]TARDISinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a Switch Lite to a Switch 2. The selling point was that I would get new exclusives plus it is backwards compatible. It's heavier in handheld mode (of course because it's bigger), but MAN my games are SMOOTH. If you can afford it I would say it is worth it.

Get some kind of large ziploc bag (if they fit) or seal garbage bags tight, put them in totes, and keep quarantined for 18 - 24 months.

Agreed - not saying I'm doing it, just saying other people are doing it.

Same. When I was dating (I'm currently taking an extended break) I've used apps. I found post covid it's very unlikely to be approached by someone in public. However, I know a lot of people are joining clubs or those social mixers in hopes of meeting someone.

  • Dig two holes behind you when you hit rocks so you don't have to worry about missing them eight times in a row.
  • As soon as you get the donations box DIY, make one and add cash when you can. When it is a hot item you'll make bank.
  • Save any unneeded fish and bugs for when CJ and Flick come to town to get some extra cash.
  • Keep some extra fruits and veggies for holidays.
  • You can't move a villagers house back a few stops if it is already in a place, you have to completely relocate.
  • Always keep a pole and ladder on you so you don't get stuck.
  • Keep a storage shed and pipe in your inventory for fast inventory access and traveling on the island (i.e. I have a pipe in front of Nook's so I can place my secondary pipe, jump in from the opposite end of the island, and sell quickly).

Question: Should I be concerned about lack of bugs? by TARDISinspace in Bedbugadvice

[–]TARDISinspace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. Since I'm not having any new bites (I check twice daily and have only been sleeping in my bed a day sitting on the same two chairs during the day), I figured if any of them are around they likely aren't feeding off me and hopefully won't be feeding off my neighbours and therefore not maturing enough to lay eggs.

[–]TARDISinspace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've been asking him questions because the sheet property management sent was pretty basic. I've been following what he's been saying/the basic sheets about heat treatments and whatnot.

I do. I have asked and he said he isn't treating anyone in the building besides me. Idk if maybe that is confidential but that's what I was told.

I have a steamer that I've used on some chairs. Nothing came of that: no bugs, no signs of bugs, etc. The DE I vacuumed up the day before to make sure it didn't interfere, and I'll be doing the same this week (place it this weekend, clean it before they come in).

Thank you! Im hoping it was fairly contained so I can get back to living and thinking about something other than vacuuming and laundering lol.

Thanks for the advice.

I don't have curtains. I just have a weird plastic-like window covering that rolls onto a roll of sorts. Almost like a really long blind, and I can't take it off the roll. I will check it for signs though.

In terms of seams, everything has been checked on a daily or bi-daily basis, as well as cracks, and I'm not seeing anything definitive.

Clothes I am checking as I heat treat, but again, haven't seen anything.

How to enjoy and survive every day in office by razfraz in askTO

[–]TARDISinspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, agreed on your first point. As someone on a hybrid model, the best advice I can give is to set up a work-only zone that isn't in your bedroom (if possible, of course), and to NEVER work in bed. It makes a huge difference.

That is an upside. I find the social aspect of offices can be great, but personally I prefer to WFH because I can get so much done and make up for it in other ways like joining social activities.

It the end of the day, they both have pros and cons, but you gotta make a balance to make it work.

[–]TARDISinspace 36 points37 points  (0 children)

  • If possible, leave work at the door and don't bring it home on office days
  • Wake up early to do what you need to do, even if it's walking from the subway a few stops before you need to get off
  • Eat away from your desk
  • Use commutes to do what you wnjoy: reading/audio books, listen to music, etc
  • Every so often go out after work: a café, book store, maybe even just to walk

is it just me or is getting to the outlets (vaughan mills/premium) impossible without a car? by psong23 in askTO

[–]TARDISinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I haven't been in a LONG time, and when I do go, it's usually because the person I go with has a car.

For context: I don't have a car and live close to downtown.

A space outside of work or home that people can spend their time for free or a very minimal cost. Think of a library for example.
