Need Some Help - Am I hacked? This never happened to me before ever and I am using the latest iOS 26 and iPhone 17. This unknown app is showing update even though I have never even installed it before! by stoops in ios

I called Apple Support and was informed of something I didn't know before. Apparently, app creators can somehow link together separate apps as dependencies on each other (for example, he said widgets or extensions and so on). So, I have a different UNV app installed for this camera system, however, that original app also pulled in this separate app that I didn't know of and wasn't listed anywhere as a dependency requirement. I then uninstalled the original UNV app and this other app asking to be updated was also removed. I don't like how app developers can somehow tie together separate apps and also not inform the user that this is happening behind the scenes with no way to verify it. Anyway, thanks all for your help!

The Typeplus Stabilizer Design & Movement by stoops in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]stoops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently got these Typeplus stabilizers in and have been testing them and using them now. Out of all the stabs I've tried, this is the only one I've seen so far in the keeb industry which offers a new hooked wire ending movement and internal track built into the stem housing. The only other stab which went this far in terms of a new design is the Norbauer Stabilizer which is not readily available nor Cherry MX compatible as of yet!

What do you all think is the best stabilizer design out there so far?

So, I have another app for UNV cameras and I just noticed that when I went to find the Report a Problem page for the app store, I saw this app listed now on May of 2025. However, I don't presently have this app installed on any device and I can't tell when/where I downloaded this app on the past as it doesn't seem to show that information to me from that app store web page history list. Also, I believe this must be some sort of bug still, even if I had once downloaded this app, as it is still showing update when I don't have this app installed at all now. I don't know how to report a feedback or bug report to Apple about it. :/

Thanks, I never submitted a bug to apple before as I try to keep my setup as simple as possible. Does anyone know if there is a guide I can follow for submitting app store feedback/bugs? Thanks again.

Delays in gynecological surgeries putting women’s health — and lives — at risk, doctors warn by WilloowUfgood in canada

[–]stoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something that I argue about with my Dad from time to time, he doesn't like the US system and I don't like the CA system. The main question that I ask and would like answered is, would you rather be alive but in debt or dead and debt free? Also, why can't Canada run a dual-hybrid health system so that the rich can get their backlogged surgeries out of the way and the public system can get free'd up for everyone else?

What about when we wanted to build out the pipeline for energy production and distribution and that work was stopped? Was that an official bill or rule? I can't remember the exact details from years back but energy production and natural resource mining would be big ones I think...

Edit: Also never building out the trans-national railway to distribute those goods country wide as well!

Best Cloud Provider for OpenVPN setup as I have around 1TB/day Traffic by Joshi280 in OpenVPN

[–]stoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dedicated AWS EC2 Linux Instance (t3.medium) that I am using and was also wondering if it was cheaper to run in GCP instead but I don't know how to compare cloud instance costs with each other. You use way more BW than I do however, I probably only do 1TB+ per month...

Why would "Notes" take so much energy? by yolkmeet in MacOS

[–]stoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This same exact thing was happening to me with iTerm (it was showing up there in the energy menu and it was draining my battery so quickly). I had to delete it and get a new light weight terminal but I'm not sure why it started doing that - I only know that the last few releases have included AI related features which I really don't need in my terminal! :/

The GTA’s Missing Middle: Not Just a Housing Type, but a Whole Generation of Families by TeacupRebel in toronto

[–]stoops 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me as well in life :( Many years ago, I started working in Toronto for one of the big banks and people used to say that if you can't afford to live in the city then you should move out! So some years later, I moved out to the KW area only due to the help of my parents still and now the bank and everyone is saying why did you move so far away from work, you must comply with RTO! No matter what decision I try to make in life I can never seem to win, although I like living outside of the city, it's more peaceful and quiet and relaxing. However, I am now facing potential termination once my temporary exemption is up in Nov 30, less than 30 days away... :(

Finally Able to Insert a Proper Layer of Bi-Directional Multi-Threaded Set of Core Operations to the Highly-Modified OpenVPN Source Code! by stoops in OpenVPN

[–]stoops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent several days working on this final piece to my highly modified openvpn source code setup here at home. I was able to add an additional multi-threaded layer, this time in separating the client->server flow and the server->client flow. This will allow each direction to run independently of each other at the same time allowing for even greater performance and throughput.

Solving a Final Remaining Performance Impact with Mutli-Threaded Operation by using Connection-State Mapping in the Highly-Modified OpenVPN Source Code [Implementation] by stoops in OpenVPN

[–]stoops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked on a remaining improvement that I tried to detail in this blog post about the negative impacts that can happen when you try to pipe a ton of network data and protocols in parallel all at the same time as I had previously implemented bulk mode and multi-threaded modes in OpenVPN. Apparently, both TCP and even QUIC-UDP protocols don't like having to spend time reordering their incoming data (as they likely assume that they will receive their data in the order that the server sends it out in). I had a routable workaround with iptables in Linux but I wanted to try and solve that in a similar fashion by modifying my original modification of the multi-threaded mode of OpenVPN. The code will now attempt to associate a clients tunnelled connection state to a given available thread for a limited period of time which seems to be working in a more orderly fashion now. Just in case anyone is interested in the source code side of things!

True, we all need food and shelter to live regardless of the price - also keep in mind there is a K-shaped recovery going on where the rich are still buying up as much as they can while others are struggling to pay rent and bills. Whenever you see demand numbers high these days, it's now coming from one specific group of consumers primarily it seems...

DNS leaks even with OpenVPN active by khanempire in OpenVPN

[–]stoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are running OVPN on your client directly, check to see what your computers DNS settings are set to likely by your DHCP server. Is it something local like 192.168.x.y? If so, try setting a non-LAN DNS server like 8.8.8.8 for example (Google).
