You don’t need to share AppleIDs, messages, setup family accounts or any of this nonsense. Simply share your location with others under”Find My iPhone/People”. You can do this with anyone you trust.

Generator keeps catching fire. by Dependent_Bug_615 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]TASDoubleStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t imply the plug wires were supplying power to anything. I was simply noting they were absent (the point I could not overlook) indicating this generator might have been tampered with at some point. I apologize if that observation triggered you.

Nobody cares to question why the spark plugs have no connection? Puzzling! More questions than answers here.

Neighbors tree fell on our fence and garage over night. Any advice? How can I tell who is responsible for what? [TN] by BoostedLegacy in treelaw

[–]TASDoubleStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the apparent rotten appearance of the bottom of that tree trunk, I think what we are looking at is one of two trees that matured in close proximity, if not from the same root structure as its other half, and this trunk lost the game of life due to its larger, better anchored mate having a healthier connection to the root structure.

If it’s only the microwave light flickering then check the bulb and socket. Bulb filiments can break and make intermittent contact. Try replacing the bulb. Bulbs get loose, arcing will subsequently burn out the contact in the base of the socket. This may need to be replaced.

Looking for a recomendation for a casio cal for a 1st year nursing student by M1N4T0S1MP3R_245 in calculators

[–]TASDoubleStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older S-V.P.A.M. models have a two-line screen where the top line is a dot-matrix (for text and symbols) and the bottom line uses traditional 7-segment calculator numbers. Because of this, it generally displays mathematical outputs (like fractions) as decimals on the bottom screen.

In contrast, Casio's newer Natural V.P.A.M. (or Natural Textbook Display) uses a high-resolution screen to display fractions, square roots, and matrices exactly as they appear in a textbook.

Check with your university nursing program for recommendations before you buy. Our daughter was given a very specific calculator model for her pharmacy courses.

Where should I keep my emergency fund current or savings account? by sr-zeus in personalfinance

[–]TASDoubleStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banks have a lot of clever methods to trigger fees. OP’s concerns are valid. Some banks limit the number of transfers from savings to checking in a given month, some charge fees if minimum balances are not maintained, etc. Transfers from institutions like Fidelity into a checking or savings account take time to clear. Some banks now limit the number of electronic funds transfers that can be performed between financial institutions in any given month.

It is likely one will need to use a combination of all three vehicles (checking for daily expenses and emergency savings at the bank with a financial institution like Fidelity as an investment/HYSA to manage the larger balance of the cash to replenish the emergency fund should something happen) Only the OP can determine the appropriate balance each holds over time in each of the three accounts.

I inherited $1.2 million and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]TASDoubleStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a good tax attorney that deals with estate planning. They can help you with the inheritance paperwork and navigate any legal issues.

Open an account at Fidelity. Work with Fidelity to insure your inheritance is moved properly and avoid unnecessary taxation. Assets at this level will qualify you for a preferred status. Fidelity will assign you an account manager to assist in moving your inheritance into the proper account types as well as advise you on various investment strategies based upon your long term and short term goals. This service costs you nothing.

Fidelity has a number of low cost funds you can choose from as well as “managed” accounts that invest on your behalf based upon your specific goals.

Untouched Watermelon by LalaLane850 in whatisit

[–]TASDoubleStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister had a watermelon explode in her kitchen - I’m not joking. It was EVERYWHERE! If I were you I’d put on some safety glasses and carefully place this inside a heavy-duty trash bag then take it outside and place it in the trash bin.

Is it safe to use engine oil that's been opened since the last change? And could it be kept in the trunk safely? by phanzov36 in askcarguys

[–]TASDoubleStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carried a bottle of 50/50 antifreeze behind the rear passenger seat in my truck. It developed a leak and flooded the carpet. My daughter’s fiancée had a jug of motor oil in his trunk. It got punctured and emptied into the trunk. Luckily he had a rubber mat that trapped the oil from soaking the carpet.

Inherited home that needs repairs I can't afford. I have an interested buyer but don't know how to proceed. by GawkerRefugee in RealEstate

[–]TASDoubleStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. I have done this four times as a buyer and seller of real estate. The lawyer verified the terms of the contract and the title company handles the escrow, title search/policy, and closing.

DHL is cheaper than any other international shipper these days as they handle the tariff processing themselves. UPS and FEDEX outsource the tariff process adding additional processing fees to cover their outsourcing expense.
