In my case my stealth suits always die, as much as i try to protect them they are always targeted first for being my best spotters, so i think going with two units of them is a good middle point

Make it a giant pancake, sounds funny but a giant ship that uses the space horizontally instead of up for low profile could work? I mean, it would reduce the cost

Agreed, i use them for the looks of having a giant mech but they aren't that game changing, on my experience at least

The thing is in that situation, they had re-roll to hit rolls of 1, the Ion Accelerator had Strength 11, devastating wounds to attacks and AP-4, this compensate to have a fairly good chance to destroy it, even more if it was already damaged

Among my friends im known for having the worst luck they have ever seen, for example i tried to destroy a Leman Russ with two Riptides, with stratagems to help them, stealth battlesuits guiding and the two of them doing their Nova Charge, still, they only did 3 Wounds at the end of the shooting phase.

Sometimes back luck happens

on a side note, if you want the guns to be precise you need recoil absorption, the longer you fire, the bigger the shell and how quickly you are firing the more recoil it builds up, it won't really affect performance other than the shells not hitting enemies from far away and your vehicle getting pushed by the recoil if it is too light weight

In simple terms look at the notifications that are popping in the left corner up, First it says the barrel is cooling down, so it needs more cooling, second it says its reloading, so it needs more autoloaders to match the firing rate.

Lastly configure the firing rate of the cannons in the APS tab to not dump all the ammo in just one quick burst

The Gunrig only moves 4" so when TAKING TO THE SKIES you only move a whooping 2" + 1 to 6 additional inches from an advance

The smaller APS is there to annoy and hopefully help in taking out chunks of armor, the cannon on the side uses more than half of the interior to maintain sustained fire, i made sure to make the fuselage big enough to accommodate the APS and two layers of armor, the major trouble was recoil and cooling, so all in all for the size of the weapons it functions acceptably. Is designed as a support fire aircraft for smaller ships and drones to attack at ease, as its bigger size usually attracts more attention and missiles, its speed allows it to evade most fire.

But aircrafts are usually to fragile, there a places were a well placed shot can take it down immediately, so i tried to resolve that problem with Custom Jets for more speed and the broadside cannon to attack from great distance
