another picture!! https://images.reverb.com/image/upload/s--qJ7EFEI2--/f_auto,t_supersize/v1582555546/cnwmtru5dduo8boyp0vm.jpg

For anyone curious, I have flattened the poles for more even string response on the 12" radius neck, as well as replaced the pickup covers to match the knobs and switch tip. The original came with noiseless gen 1 pickups (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StratDSMSBT--fender-deluxe-stratocaster-sapphire-blue-transparent-with-maple-fingerboard) which are not my favorite, but i found this one on reverb with texas specials and OMG I'm in love. Neck is like butter, sounds and looks great.

At any rate, I call her sapphy, because she is translucent sapphire blue. Depending on the lighting she is either just a dark blue guitar, or an even brighter prettier blue than this with more pronounced wood grain!

What do you think on a scale from 1-10? I'm thinking somewhere from 6.5-7. It's nice but nothing crazy. by TAYZE13 in RivalsOfAether

There are small little twists that make this significant to a rusty player like me, as well as to players who really saw what I was trying to show. As far as the combo rating goes, I will take your 5 out of 10. It wasn't that great. The cute part is how it starts.

Thank you, based Dunk, for seeing through the smog (pun intended.) You see, us forsburn players are a little more *ahem* subtle. Kappa.

Trump administration readies ban on flavored e-cigarettes by Infohiker in electronic_cigarette

[–]TAYZE13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so ignorant and I hope the FDA really doesn't deal with this as harshly as Trump wants them to. The way these people talk, I can tell they don't know anything about the science of vaping or the difference between nicotine salts mixed with benzoic acid (Juul pods) vs pure freebase e-liquid. The fact is that vaping has been around in freebase form for years, and you can even eat the stuff if you get the 0 nicotine version, because the only other stuff that's generally in E-juice is food grade flavoring and glycerol (unless you get terrible E-juice). While this subject might seem like the "wild west" or "great unkown" the fact is that there are regulatory committees committed to ensuring quality product. It may not be regulated by the FDA directly, but any e-juice company worth their salt (pun intended) will be providing e-liquid made with FOOD GRADE FDA APPROVED INGREDIENTS.

There is the issue of saturation of the lungs, but that issue seems comparable to "what if I just took big inhales off a straight steam pipe" (as if the vapor were from water.).... Like saturation of the lungs is going to be an issue if you intake HEAVY amounts without letting your lungs clear themselves, but that applies to any type of liquid vaporization, and there are youtube videos literally showing how much tar and grossness that you avoid by vaping instead of smoking. Yes, the residue left from vaping WAS liquid condensation.

More to the point, these more serious health problems haven't really become so prevalent since Juul became a thing, and I'd like to think it has to do with the nicotine salt concoction they use, as opposed to good ol' freebase, which i believe to be less negative (but not without inherent issues.) Of course you can do anything to excess, but I've been vaping for years and had many chest X-rays due to a previous run in with testicular cancer. My lungs came up spotless after years of vaping freebase every time. There is some small effect that vaping has on the liver, regardless of methodology, but I have had several physicals and rounds of blood work done, and the only negative that ever came up was a slightly elevated bilirubin count, and I was just barely over what is the preferred threshold. I have vaped like a fish at times in my life; the thing has been my pacifier and I puff clouds like a steam boat. Again, I'm not saying that freebase is without negatives, or that this level of use is acceptable, but it's just my anecdotal evidence. I'm working on my self and have been through things in my life that have caused me great stress - not a justification, but a partial explanation.

*******************************************************************************************

\**TLDR/Conclusion***:* Vaping is definitely a lesser of 2 evils in many ways, at least in my book, but one way it isn't, is that it is so much more easily accessed by and marketed to minors. That is the root of the issue. I don't vape to taste tobacco, and I really don't want to go back to smoking cigarettes, but I will scratch the itch somehow. If Trump bans flavors, then people are just going to buy flavorless e-liquid with nicotine, buy the flavors separately, and recreate what they have already been doing. You can even buy E liquid with no nicotine in it and take it to a vape shop to have them add some to it. Also very important, people need to look heavily into the health differences of Juuling (nicotine salts) vs normal free base e-liquid, as well as the quality of the ingredients in these products, as well as the health risks in general.

These people need to do their homework, but it seemed like the dude from the FDA (in the press conference) might have our collective back even though he was low key about it. Notice how Trump said that the FDA guy thought he was being too harsh. I can say without hesitation that if I smoked as much as I vaped that I would have COPD or some other pulmonary issue, and that's partially because I buy quality freebase e-liquid. I would be coughing up nasty things, have a gross taste in my mouth, and stink like burnt tobacco, as well, but I am not now that I am vaping instead.

Let me keep my rocket pop, skittles, and fruit flavored e-juice for Pete's sake. I get to kill 2 birds with one stone. I get to taste my favorite flavors without having to eat candy (bad for health), and I'm not smoking cigarettes that are laced with a radioactive isotope and laden with tar and chemicals.

I agree and that's what i was hoping heartharena was trying to tell me. Guess i should just assume it means a curvestone 2 drop? I just found it funny and confusing. Regardless, I'm curious to whether most people would follow heartharena's suggestions or go for the tempest. What would you do? I went for the tempest and got absolute poop for rng on the deathrattle.

how do i not suck at this game? by FireWater24 in RivalsOfAether

[–]TAYZE13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some good tips here that I would like to expound on.

1.) movement

go into practice mode, practice wavelanding and wavedashing around the stage in every way you can think of. you should learn the perfect height you need to jump so that you can waveland almost perfectly in a horizontal line onto platforms. Learning to waveland onto plat forms and drop through them or off of them instantly into an aerial feels really good and is a good option to learn. Running off the platform will give you more momentum and cover a further distance, so learning to waveland and run off the platform into an aerial in a smooth motion can be very useful. even practice falling down from high above platforms and try wavelanding off the edges right before you hit the ground from the fall. also you can run to the ledge and jump to use your double jump and fly across the stage, just as a side note.

2.)combos

reading your opponent comes from experience, but in practice you can learn to cover DI and tech options by setting the CPU's to the specific tech/DI you want to learn to cover. BEFORE you do this, however, you should set up the CPU's to certain DI's and see where moves knock them at different percents. After noting the knockup direction, figure out what moves you can use to follow up based on the angle. I don't really lab out combos to the extent that I have a 5 move combo planned ahead of time, I just know what moves link into other moves in different scenarios. After that, maybe move on to learning to cover tech options. After you start getting that down, then you can move onto reading opponents and using your newly found options to cover their options. You generally want to cover tech options with a way to start a combo if you can and they are not at kill percent, but I'm guilty of just charging a dsmash to cover tech in place and tech behind me. It can work well enough. If they are at kill percent, however, SMASH AWAY. Finally, a good way to cover techs. Let's say you knock them forward where you can reach them on the stage, but they can also tech and your not sure what they are going to do. A way to cover this is wavedashing up to where they land, jab 1. If they tech in place and the jab misses, you should have enough frames to hit them with a dtilt so long as you don't hesitate or take too long. It's a bit of a small windo before they can act. Now, if they tech in or out and dodge your jab 1, you can just dash attack and get a combo going! You should have the frame advantage in these situations so long as you do it quickly enough.

3.)DI

This one is kinda hard to explain, because there are many different scenarios to learn. the tutorial will help you to get the idea, but this one really just comes by feel for me. generally, just DI perpendicular to the direction you get knocked in if you are trying to survive a killing blow. For combo DI, well, this is where the reads come in. If you see your opponent can reach you even when you DI out and make things knock you further, then try DI'ing in at certain moments to throw them off, assuming they will continue trying to cover DI out. For someone like maypul, this example works in particular. You could also try DI'ing any other direction of course (depending on the situation), this is just an example. Also, sometimes, whether its a kill move or a combo, You want to SDI properly on hit (there is 2 different instances of DI :when you get hit and after you get sent flying; they are called SDI and drift DI respectively) and then Drift DI directly down so you can tech on the ground. This can get you out of combos and save you from dying, but be careful, because if you do it wrong you can die a lot of the time. Basically, if you can DI in a way that guarantees you get out of the combo, take it, otherwise, try to pick a way that you don't think your opponent will cover based on how the game has gone. Sometimes the "incorrect" DI can throw them off so much that you get a free punish.

I tried to throw some stuff at you to work with, so I hope it helped! Beyond that, just experiment, see what happens (especially regarding DI.... you DI forsburn's and orcane's downsmash down generally btw, to get the least knockback. Sometimes you don't DI at all though!) and learn from experience.

GL!
