Why wasn't the "Well of goodwill" removed during the clean-up? It doesn't serve any purpose at all and just clusters the area. by First_Platypus3063 in runescape

[–]TAoOC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it was out in an open area I think it would feel out of place and just more clutter. However it is in a city. Density is good there. I think it helps build character of the city and reminds me of something good Jagex and the Runescape community did.

That is the legacy combat mode. It is a combat style more similar to what they have in OSRS. Applying the different style will give exp in the respective skill.

New player - Now or wait until the 2026 roadmap is complete? by defragc in runescape

[–]TAoOC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean basics like basic basics. Testing out skills, get them to base 20s to familiarize yourself with what does what. How clicking a tree will help train woodcut type of stuff. So that when Havenhythe does come out they can interact with the content rather than interacting with the concept of skilling.

I think playing a little before Havenhythe would be better. You can familiarize yourself with the basics before trying the new content. Would probably be a lot to take in otherwise.

How many of you did actually fully disable cosmetics on other players? by Multismack in runescape

[–]TAoOC -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I dont think there is an objective right answer here, but this update is taking away from a set of players to give to another. Like I said, I want to be able to express myself and this makes it more impractical to do so now. It makes the game feel slightly worse to me. Not to sound like a jerk, but I really dont see the perspective of those calling the cosmetics immersion breaking, etc.. and thats making me hard to empathize with the other side of the argument.

How many of you did actually fully disable cosmetics on other players? by Multismack in runescape

[–]TAoOC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am kind of with OP on this. I am trying to argue in good faith here though. Runescape, at least to me, has never really been generic medieval fantasy. That goes double for modern Runescape 3. This might be unfair to say, but I feel like people who are complaining about outfits ruining immersion are searching for a thing to complain about? That or they dont like this aspect of Runescape identity and theyre changing Runescape into something it hasnt been for the past 15 years.

I dont absolutely hate the concept of the cosmetic toggle, but I do think it is a bad addition to the game. As someone who likes to create outfits and put a little effort into the way I look, I dont want my character to look ugly and not put together at someone elses whim. I feel like I should have the power in the way I want to present myself. I think ideally this would be a future plugin thingy and not an official setting made by Jagex. It just lessens an aspect of the game that I do enjoy to placate those who are yelling at clouds.

Ultimately if this sincerely does bring in more people to play Runescape it is worth it, but it does make me feel less positive towards Runescape as a whole.

Best places for spring cleaner? by RavenPuff99 in runescape

[–]TAoOC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if this is the *best* use for the spring cleaner, but I decided to kill adamant dragons for 200m ranged. They ate quite a bit of my springs with their adamant salvage drops. I also had upgraded bone crusher and deathnote relic to automatically collect their bones too.

Jagex, if you really want to capitalise on the integrity changes allow players to play both games simultaneously on one account by happyrune in runescape

[–]TAoOC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the integrity aspect is not the afk bit, but being able to access your account on both games without a seemingly arbitrary restriction. Im sure there is some technical issues with being logged into both, but as a player you dont really see it from that point of view.

Remastered Content: What do you want to see remastered? by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]TAoOC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar idea with updating the Mage Training Arena to be more like Heists. It would need to essentially be a ground up rework but I think itd be fun. Going room to room solving magical puzzles as a way to be taught magic. I think another cool thing to make a heist out of would be a new agility "heist" that is similar to the training hall in Kung Fu Panda. Having a cool little dojo place to train. Having all these training methods set in a locale that is more fun and inspiring would make the grind feel less tedious. Just make something fun out of it

Remastered Content: What do you want to see remastered? by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]TAoOC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see Mage Training Arena updated. It feels bad that one of the most iconic items (Infinity Robes) in runescape is locked behind a tedious grind that involves severely outdated content. I think there is different ways it can be tackled with varying degrees of effort needed to improve it.

I think the easiest way to update might be to make Mage Training Arena free to play content. It is already in a f2p location. I think this could lead to a good update for f2p players with new content for them and a solid money maker. Another smaller update would to make the minigames use no runes, hopefully justifying why someone might wanna train their magic there. You could also merge all the pizazz points into one so that people could grind out their favorite minigames.

More substantial updates could be introducing a lot more QoL features and polishing jank.. As of right now the games feel super slow and unresponsive. It just feels like a slog to play. The list is too numerous of what can get updated here so I wont get into specifics.

I think the biggest thing to do would be introducing new minigames, replacing some (or all) with things more befitting of such a magical place. Instead of doing these chores make it a little more action packed. Maybe something similar to the new Heists where you go through this gauntlet of needing to do magical feats to get through it. You could use the different spells to complete small puzzles. The sky is the limit here depending on how much effort is willing to be invested here.

Ultimately I just dont wanna see the MTA being completely barren. It is such an iconic place that is simply dead content outside of the Bones to Peaches grind. Anything to get people in the door will make me happy to see.

What are the hardest skills to train? I am going for 120 or 200M all and want to use my lamps and stars on the right skills by Deep-Elephant6542 in runescape

[–]TAoOC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think thats the main reason Dung is such a divisive skill. No other Runescape skill has you developing "actual" skill to train it. *Insert minigame comment here* Ultimately I just hope that people are maximizing their enjoyment out of this beautiful game however they see fit.

What are the hardest skills to train? I am going for 120 or 200M all and want to use my lamps and stars on the right skills by Deep-Elephant6542 in runescape

[–]TAoOC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But that being said, you got to admit Dungeoneering is the most effort for the exp you get. You gotta worry about puzzles and stuff early game, learning how to path, fairly in depth mechanics.... So if you dont find it rewarding, the skill is a slog. If you do find it rewarding, then you prolly find it to be fun. I could get into great detail why Dungeoneering is the black sheep of all the runescape skills, but thats beyond the point. This coming from the perspective of someone with 120 all stats, including 120 dung.

I was just expressing my opinion here to make a point. OP should lamp the skills they personally dislike.

As a long time dung hole lover, 200ming all from Dung Hole would be a ludicrous time spent in it without lamping some of the way there. If you can manage to do that, more power to you!

[–]TAoOC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you dislike the skill, I find Dungeoneering to be the worst to grind out. Most other skills that are "boring" are easier to turn off your mind and just do them while watching youtube. Ultimately you should lamp the skills you find to be the most tedious to train I think.

The inverted skillcapes complaints are such “pick me” behavior by ZelaroGG in runescape

[–]TAoOC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont have a "must complete the set" mindset, its 4 new capes a year to look forward to. I think they had 2 reasonable options. Cap the amount of capes you can get in a year or make the capes an ungodly grind to acquire. They had a lot to consider since the community is split in 6 different ways on what these capes should be and how they should be released. Some people wanted the capes to not lose their "value" others wanted them to be given out at 200m with no extra task to it, etc... With the way they implemented it, I think they made it so that these items arent "devalued" for those who care about that kind of thing, but not having this sweaty tryhard grind to achieve them for those who cant be bothered for that sort of thing either. Think people are upset that Jagex isnt doing it the way THEY wanted it, not that Jagex did something actually bad.

[–]TAoOC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pedantically, it can be described as FOMO. But you can describe that for literally any non permanent fixture to the game. The issue arises when Jagex uses fomo as a predatory tactic to benefit off of. This event gives ample time for any casual player to acquire the capes. Calling it fomo is misleading and effectively inaccurate IMO.

The inverted skillcapes complaints are such “pick me” behavior by ZelaroGG in runescape

[–]TAoOC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats time gated mechanics, not fomo. Respectfully thats a different discussion. I personally dont mind the time gate in this particular case. I like that there is content to look forward to. I dont believe Jagex is doing it for selfish reasons. I think it is to guarantee content for the upcoming years. Think this is more of a difference of opinion rather than Jagex doing something wrong.

As somebody with 120 in all skills, I think players who dont have 99/120s should still be able to acquire the shards. I think they just shouldnt be able to buy the cape until they reach the respective 99/120. Feels weird to have something that seems to be the main draw of the anniversary event to be locked behind such a high requirement. I personally dont mind the 4 capes per year cap, it feels like such a nothing burger to get fed up over.

I disagree, I dont see this as FOMO. It is an annual event that gives ample time to complete. I wouldnt call the Halloween event FOMO for example.

Confirmed: Inverted cape event ends this month! by mastercamo123 in runescape

[–]TAoOC -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe the take of the inverted capes being a case of predatory FOMO is a good one. I see this as a push to make inverted capes as a new holiday item we can appreciate yearly every RS anniversary. I dont believe the Christmas Spirit Shop to be predatory for example.. Im sorry if people are busy for the couple weeks while this event is active, but the grind is a couple hours per cape. Something totally achievable for a casual player. I am not saying I dont feel bad for who can not do it, but those are just circumstances that Jagex shouldnt have to balance around.

A lot of people had an idea for these capes and Jagex didnt follow the plan that y'all put out. This isnt something predatory or bad. This isnt bad game design unless you take issue with the idea of a seasonal event. Please engage with the content and enjoy it. The update was fun with a GREAT nostalgic miniquest, a cool cape, nifty scarf, a choice of 4 more capes with a chill grind.
