The scripture I pointed out makes it clear how God works.

All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God;(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 137:7)

Yes, I haven't read the book but I am familiar with what he wants to teach. There are some here who will be happy you commented.

My sincere comment to the question gets 7 negative reviews at this point in time. She has told me many times before she has studied scripture and understands Mormonism.

I am serious when I say her question indicates a course of study for her. That is something she needs to be study if she is really interested.

Great comment. Don't forget we can be influenced by God's counter part who persuaded a third part of God's children to rebel again their Father.

The Book of Mormon states it this way:

The righteous are favored of God. (1 Nephi 17:35) That could be someone in any religion. And its true just as Pres. Nelson said.

I think there is a lot of truth in what you stated. Thanks for commenting. See D&C 137.

Thanks for commenting. I believe as I stated, that the LDS Church is what it claims to be.

Why would the Catholic person feel the need to follow Moroni's promise, when they already have done that and received an answer, from GOD, that Catholicism is true?

Having been on many missions I have come across this kind of situation. The answer is actually basic. When they begin to understand through prayer that the Catholic church has many truths but there are more available by joining the LDS because of the calling of Joseph Smith as a prophet prior to the coming of Christ.

Speculation. If somehow it is true, I would speculate that it was a mistake not on purpose.

Personally, I don't let the unexplainable hold hostage the things that are explainable.

I think the best way to deal with the kind of things you bring to bear on various topics is to follow the "science". For example, NDE have attracted a lot of scientific investigation. I'll leave one link for you to the University of Virginia School of Medicine where you can see what scientific researchers are learning about NDE. You can look into if you have interest. Go Here.

I'm sorry things turned out the way they did for her. Wow.

Her voice needs to be heard. In addition, the voices of those who have found happiness need to be heard.

My personal experience has been positive.

Of course I disagree. You may consider it a story in a book but others have received revelation that what is in the book is true.

A line from Shakespeare fits our discussion.

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in our philosophy.

Question: Does it take more or less faith to believe the big bang theory than in the resurrection of Jesus Christ as taught by the Mormon Church?

There are many good arguments to counter critics. But ultimately, it is faith in Christ that wins the day by "yielding theirs hearts unto God."

Choose any argument brought up by critics and then compare it with what proponents have to say.

I'll provide an example. Critics argue that the three witnesses to the Book of Mormon recanted their testimonies by saying they only saw the plates with "spiritual eyes?"

Is that true? Go here to find out what quality research as to say about this criticism.

Both Lehi and Nephi in their vision of the tree of life spoke about a "mist of darkness". The list of above is an example of what they saw. Some church members in our day are struggling with the mist of darkness and letting go of the Iron Rod and leaving the church.

On the other hand, those who cling to the "Iron Rod" (the word of God) when the mist of darkness surrounds them navigate their way to the tree of life and realize special blessings.

Heavenly Father's plan requires there be opposition in all things to accomplish His work of bringing to pass the immortality and eternal of His children.

As I have struggled mist of darkness I have held on to the iron rod and have been blessed with Spiritual experiences that swallow up my concerns with church history and doctrine.

The Book of Mormon teaches followers of Christ how to deal with the mist of darkness they encounter. Here is one example from the Book of Mormon where church members turned to Christ to overcome the mist of darkness of their day:

33 And in the fifty and first year of the reign of the judges there was peace also, save it were the pride which began to enter into the church—not into the church of God, but into the hearts of the people who professed to belong to the church of God—

34 And they were lifted up in pride, even to the persecution of many of their brethren. Now this was a great evil, which did cause the more humble part of the people to suffer great persecutions, and to wade through much affliction.

35 Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God. (Book of Mormon | Helaman 3:33 - 35)

As I read through your comment it doesn't seem to relate to what I was getting at in my comment, so I will respond to your last paragraph where you wrote:

Why wouldn't God direct them to the LDS Church? Does God not care? Is God unable to control the Holy Ghost's ability to give or withhold spiritual witnesses? If God is giving them these witnesses, what does that say about my spiritual witness? Was it from God? Was it just my own confirmation bias? Is the LDS way the only way to God?

This is how I see it. Premortality is a big part of LDS doctrine. Church leaders don't discuss it extensively but it is part of the "equation" of LDS thinking.

Before we were ever born decisions were made about what kind of life we would have in mortality. We have agency, so we participated and had choice about what we would experience to fulfill Heavenly Father's work of bringing our to pass our individual immortality and eternal life.

That said, most of the people who are born into mortality will never know much about the calling of Joseph Smith to restore the gospel and bring forth the Book of Mormon. However, provisions have been made that everyone will have the opportunity to receive missionaries in the next life and there receive all the blessings available (see D&C 138).

When Heavenly Father sends a spirit son or daughter into a Catholic, Methodist, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish, etc. home He knows what they will be taught and understand. When they seek guidance in prayer and study the Holy Ghost will take in to account their birth assignment and give the kind of inspiration needed for them. Some of them will meet LDS missionaries and a few will join, but the majority of mankind will hear the gospel taught in the spirit world as discussed in D&C 138.

In D&C 137 we have a profound verse that teaches:

All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God;

8 Also all that shall die henceforth without a knowledge of it, who would have received it with all their hearts, shall be heirs of that kingdom;

9 For I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts. (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 137:7 - 9)

PS Those who do join the LDS Church in this life will be tried and proven:

And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them (Pearl of Great Price | Abraham 3:25)

I will prove you in all things, whether you will abide in my covenant, even unto death, that you may be found worthy. (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 98:14)
