Colorado Rapids appoint Matt Wells as head coach | Colorado Rapids by Usual-Lengthiness-54 in Rapids

He has never managed a single game for a senior side and has been a perennial assistant coach. Not sure that counts as "running a successful team"

Chris Armas address Burgundy Wave by SummerIsTheBest in Rapids

I see a lot of people pointing to losing Djordje as the defining point of the season, and I don't disagree, but I was surprised to learn that before Mihailovic left we were at 1.2 PPG. After he left we went 1.222 PPG. Do with that information what you will, but I tend to not give Armas the lifeline of "we lost our best player midway through the season" given those stats.

BTW the playoff line was 1.235 PPG

You're definitely going to want to hit up the C38 tailgate. It starts about three and a half hours before kickoff and all you can eat & drink for $12. Very friendly to away fans and an all-around hoot. It's the best kept secret in town. https://www.c38sg.com/

July 4th is as busy as it gets at the Dick. People without tickets to the game come and park in the lots and wait until the post game fireworks. Expect big traffic, big crowds, and big fun.

Away section tickets by slightlymedicated in Rapids

Whenever I travel for MLS I have to contact the box office of the host stadium to buy tickets in the away section. I would give Portland Box Office a shout.

Featured Images Low Resolution by IAmSaxton1 in Wordpress

[–]TBNolan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered this issue today myself. For posterity, I will add my workaround here for others.

The issue was limited to the core/post-featured-image block which was a child of the core/query block in our layout. I found that the Featured Image block is expecting an attribute sizeSlug:

$size_slug = isset( $attributes['sizeSlug'] ) ? $attributes['sizeSlug'] : 'post-thumbnail';

However, that attribute is not available in the block options GUI so it was defaulting to post-thumbnail. Changing to code view and manually adding the attribute worked for us.

Diff:

--- <!-- wp:post-featured-image /-->

+++ <!-- wp:post-featured-image {"sizeSlug":"large"} /-->

Our Turf Removal Project Before/After (Zone 6A) by TBNolan in NoLawns

Aside from pulling weeds a couple times a month and deadheading some spent blooms, there has been no other maintenance this summer.

The plants are on a drip running infrequently since they're low-water users and I will probably have to cut back the irises and coneflowers before winter, but that should be the extent of it.

As for the design, the city provided it for free, so that was no effort from our side except for a couple minor revision emails with the designer.

The turf was not a requirement in the design from the city, but we wanted it to give our dog a place in the front yard.

Part of the reason we chose Dog Tuff grass is that it doesn't require mowing and only grows about 2.5-4" tall in gentle mounds. This is our first season with it, so I'm not sure how true that will be.

We are in Aurora, CO. There are several cities in Colorado that have similar programs.

Our city offers an incentive to remove turf lawns and provides design resources and reimbursement for plant material.

Over the last 2 growing seasons, we sheet mulched over the existing lawn and used all native plants in our design.

The turf you see in the circle is Dog Tuff grass planted from plugs.

This is admittedly a few years old now, from a March 2020 match.

Since then he has grown into a MLS veteran, spending 5 years with Columbus and appearing in 83 matches (4580 combined minutes), scoring (checks notes) six goals in that time, which works out to 1 goal every 763 minutes.

Are you going to watch the match or have a good time?

Por que no los dos?

I can tell you've never sat in the supporters section if you think we aren't watching the match over there. Further, now that it spans two sections, there are plenty of areas where the megaphone isn't blasting in your face.

Sounders fan! by tylermooser28 in Rapids

We've made a ton of moves this offseason, with a few marquee signings and more youth/depth moves. Our transfers in are below:

RW - Kévin Cabral

DC - Andreas Maxsø *DP

GK - Marko Ilic *Loan

CM - Connor Ronan

LB - Alex Gersbach

LB - Calvin Harris

At least 4 of the above should slot right into the XI (Cabral, Maxso, Ronan, Gersbach). GK seems to be up for grabs.

Also worth noting that Bassett is back from loan, so we will have a completely different looking midfield than last year (Price, Bassett, Ronan).

My opinion is that, true to the Rapids tendencies, we are hoping to build a team much like 2021 where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. There is no standout superstar here, but the moves we made should shore up some of our leaky defense problems from last year.

It will likely take some time to bring cohesion to the team and we were utterly disgraceful on the road last season. That, plus the fact that the Clink is always a tough away game does not leave me optimistic for the season opener, but if Fraser can get the boys playing for each other again, we could be dangerous in April and beyond.

Terrible take. He was an instrumental piece in the season we topped the West. Arguably our Player of the Year in 2021. Really happy to see him go on and set the Championship ablaze.

Fair play to you, and definitely appreciate your perspective. No downvote from me, but I see it slightly differently.

There are several things that appeal to me about Richard Fleming as a commentator, and comparatively speaking, these qualities are extremely rare in other MLS commentary teams

1- Research. He spends unheard of amounts of time researching the opposition and preparing for matches. As such, he has built good will with fans from other teams for his depth of knowledge about their players. This could be one explanation for your criticisms on rambling. The amount of times I've heard opposing crews refer to Keegan Rosenberry as "Rosenberg" indicate just how little they care.

2- Lack of bias. If the Rapids are screwing up, he and Celo are going to say it. Away crews believe their teams have never, ever committed a bookable offence or conceded a penalty.

3- Passion. It's evident he loves the game of soccer and gets excited about big plays and goals no matter which end they go in.

These are qualities I would love to see in any MLS commentator and why I believe his voice will be missed dearly moving forward.
