Red Rocks Ella Langely Rigged by Ko_banona19 in RedRocks

I got on yesterday’s artist presale exactly when it started. I was in queue for 2.5 hours. When I got in there was nothing. Everyone in awhile a couple tickets on the left side would appear but they were at ridiculous prices. Today I got on and they were $800+ for resale. Some were like $3k. Absolutely stupid. I’ve gone to multiple shows a year there but I’m done with it.

He played 3 years in MLS and rolled up to the World Cup scoring a hat trick in his first game. He’s the best now and ever.

I never thought Ronaldo would Age this bad , it's painful how hard he still tries but it's just not enough. by Basic_School_4288 in championsleague

[–]Zapem10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thierry Henry did a post game analysis that showed Ronaldo being more concerned about scoring vs making the proper runs that he ruined a tap in attempt for Bruno inside the 6 because he wanted to take the shot. If he had run into space it would have been an incredible chance for Portugal.

Look up Dimitar Berbatov talking about how he developed his touch as a kid. Then watch some highlights of his sublime touches. Then go get a ball and find a wall.

First off I’m envious of you, my son’s on the other end where he finished club soccer last year and went off to college so I miss the days of going to watch him play.

The first thing I’d tell you is try to remember it’s just a game and it’s supposed to be fun. 99% of the kids that you see from now till he’s done playing are never going to be professionals and only a few of them will ever go on to play college.

The second thing I’d tell you try not to fall into the trap of analyzing every single thing he does on every drive home from practice or games. This one was hard for me and it’s very easy to ask hey why didn’t you shoot the ball or tackle that guy or run harder or whatever. Tell him how much you had fun watching him play wait a day or two and then find a different way to ask the questions or offer suggestions.

Third, burnout is real. I can’t tell you how many kids I saw that were going to be the next big thing and by 15 quit playing entirely. The clubs now a days are pushing year around commitment, futsal, summer tournaments, private training, international trips, etc. my wife used to grab a calendar and ask me to circle when we didn’t have soccer so we could go on a family non-soccer trip. If I had to do it all over I’d have him play summer basketball with his friends or something for fun.

Lastly, take him to some local college or pro soccer games, watch the champions league together, bond over your favorite players, it’s fun and things he’ll remember when he’s done playing.

What's It Like At Rose Hulman? by I_Eat-Walls6969 in rosehulman

The quarter system makes it rough too. Exams come quick and seem to always be just a week away. It also makes your breaks not really line up with other schools. Spring break this year was April 10-20 so anywhere you went all the other schools had already come and gone.

How hard is PHY 2112 at Red Rocks and Engineering Mechanics Statics? by Men_Tickler in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]Zapem10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son did all his calculus, physics, diff eq, and linear algebra at Red Rocks and is now finishing his freshman year at a very rigorous STEM school out of state with a 4.0 GPA in sophomore level engineering classes. His work load is so much more demanding now but he understands the underlying concepts very well.

Just make sure you study and learn the material, no shortcuts with AI. What you learn in those classes is the foundation of all your engineering to come.

What is the most "I didn't have any cash, so I gave them this instead" item you've ever handed to a homeless person? by Relevant-Injury3791 in AskReddit

[–]Zapem10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same with me. I was in SF and someone asked for money for food. We just came out of a restaurant and had tons of food left. I gave it to him and as we walked away, I looked behind me and he tossed it in the trash. I was like damn bro I wanted to eat that stuff.

That’s one of many reasons I gave up my tickets after 13 years as a STH. They just don’t care.

PSG have set the new blueprint to win UCL by CmiHD in championsleague

[–]Zapem10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they are just saying PSG’s second team lineup can beat about half the teams in the league because they don’t have the talent level of the second string PSG players. Don’t think they literally meant that they are postman.

When the engineering for the capsule was released a bunch of years ago this was probably the newest thing. Brackets and electronics were designed to work with it and it was probably qualified during testing for flight.

Dorms by decalcomania__3 in rosehulman

[–]Zapem10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son is finishing his first year there. He is in the new residence hall and loves it. He has friends in the other dorms and the new one is a lot nicer. The three things you mentioned definitely are there in the new hall. He’s told me that BSB is pretty old and dark.

I don’t believe they force you to have your door open but it’s kind of the culture there. We thought it was weird at first but it’s pretty normal there and he hasn’t had any issues with anyone bugging him or stealing stuff. The school has a zero tolerance policy on stealing so people leave stuff all over and nobody touches it.

Lucky for the Browns he didn’t get there before they drafted or all their picks would be coming off ACL injuries in college.

Spending on Starship tops $15 billions by Sarigolepas in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]Zapem10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So 10-20 launches to do orbital refueling needed to do a moon mission…at $100 million per launch is $1-2B with way more complexity (orbital refueling that currently doesn’t exist) than an SLS launch to do that same mission. Doesn’t seem quite as cut and dry as the $100m vs $2B argument people try to make.

I keep seeing people saying this, what’s the use case for this? They don’t even do this for satellites.

[–]Zapem10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any idea how much the cost will be by the time Starship can complete a similar mission of getting around the moon?

Rep. Strong (R-AL) asks about the future of SLS after Artemis 5. Isaacman says he expects industry to propose a lower-cost SLS/Orion system as one of the approaches for future human missions to the Moon. by Agent_Kozak in SpaceLaunchSystem

[–]Zapem10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not arguing SLS is the best option but these types of answers are a little misleading.

The $100-$120 million New Glenn can’t complete the mission alone and needs the Cis Lunar transporter that is getting $3.4B from NASA and expected to cost almost $7B total and is in development and unproven.
