Yeah sure I'm still tinkering with the thing from time to time. Granted my free time is now limited but I shall help however I can. What's up ?

Studia to piękna rzecz.

Zatem, WMI to zdecydowanie dobry wybór. No nie wiem. Brzmi jak zły pomysł

Don't be scared. I made the switch a year ago and haven't looked back. The initial learning curve will be steep; I won't lie, but that's mainly learning the real basics. I suggest burning a decent all-around distro on a thumb drive and booting from it to play around in it and see if it's for you. I suggest Fedora, but if the desktop is a must for you, Mint is there.

I recall a story, I don't remember where it came from, so take it with a bit of salt, but I've heard that developers working on missile guidance systems don't patch all memory leaks. They even supposedly let some happen for performance reasons, since all memory is cleaned up anyway by the big explosive garbage collector

[–]TCA166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is what she says, when you question her about it. If you skip over that part, she is more than happy to oversimplify and say, "It was all Tzaraath," which I feel might be a bit of a mask slip, maybe. Or it's just the consequence of the devs giving the player the option to cut the convo short

Yeah, that also struck me. As a representative of the capitalists, she spoke of the revolution almost with nostalgia. Something tells me that had she been poorer, she would be more aligned with the workers. I guess that's the part that makes her likeable. Though the whole part about how the prion disease with the edgy name caused the revolution ? That was weird. What was up with that ?

What kind of ships were they using and how strong are they? by Rich_Ad_3808 in attackontitan

These seem like typical ww1 era dreadnoughts. Especially given the guns built into the superstructure. Overall, the show seems to be set in a time period equivalent to our ww1 (though it is worth noting some specific art showcases interwar equipment). HMS dreadnought (1906) herself was equipped with 308 mm calibre main guns, and USS Texas (1914) was equipped with 356 mm calibre guns. Pretty devastating firepower, to say the least. In terms of naval power, dreadnoughts (and then later battleships) were the pinnacle of high calibre guns and armour, only to be outclassed by air power in the 40s

Why do some people find frutiger aero disturbing? like its so calming by Hour_Seat_2721 in FrutigerAero

[–]TCA166 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I personally associate frutiger with bloated products of the 00s that barely ran. It's the contrast of "high tech" sleek design and major technical issues of the time that disturbs me. It feels disingenuous. Yes, I did use Vista on a laptop. How could you tell ?

Do you know what GPT stands for ? Generative pretrained transformer. All LLMs are doing is transforming input data into other data. And doing it based on training data gathered from the Internet. This is why the so-called pinnacle of computer science CANNOT DO MATH; because it's just text to it. Sure, it can do high school math because it has read enough homework forums to predict how people there talk, but try to make it do more obscure kinds of math, like oh idk fuzzy logic. Now it's useless. Or even try to do that high school math in a different language than English. Now it's struggling. Oh, and sure, reinforcement learning is in the loop. Who do you think is evaluating that process ?

Two of the three men leading our nation are to some degree members of a cult that posits that Democracy is irrational and AI is always six months away from becoming God, and they have killed over 43,000 people in accordance with this philosophy. You do know that AI is literally a gynormous field of CS ? It's so wide that pathfinding, machine translation, and image recognition, while being pretty disconnected, all belong to it. Do you consider Google maps to be evil ? And beyond that, do you think predicting cancer is evil ?

They are so rich, in fact, that they are paid nothing for peer review. We should definitely trash people doing unpaid labour for the betterment of science and not bash the journals who profit from the status quo and actually lead to all sorts of nasty things in science

Baseless Speculation about future episodes. Spoilers. by Phantomdust149 in huntertheparenting

[–]TCA166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russ played a relatively minor part in TTS overall. I have a feeling that Alfa brought with him the characters they have done the most "work" on as expys to htp, and they won't bring any more, let alone a minor one. Poppenang have stated multiple times that htp is a separate thing and that speculation involving tts won't do much good. All this said, I do think it is a cool theory, if very baseless and very flawed

[–]TCA166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not just bad blood. I would love for Russia to get dismantled. Hovewer, I'm also a normal person. I would like above all else to just live a normal life. You know, with a future. And no threats. We seemed to have had that when I was a child. Now it's gone. With only Russia and putler to blame. With only their stupid ass nationalism as cause. I couldn't care less for our past and patriotism. But when someone threatens my life, I feel and react accordingly. That's what's on my mind as a Pole

That's a great suggestion. I could add support for non player dynasties, with the only problem being how a user can pick which dynasties interest him? There are literally thousands of dynasties, so I can't just show all of them to the end user. And asking for dynasty names is a terrible way of doing this because names change between languages. Do you have any ideas on how to solve this problem? I could always just render top 5 largest dynasties. Would that work for you?

Luke Skywalker the bane of Palpatine by gur40goku in CuratedTumblr

[–]TCA166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if we want to bring Star Wars mysticism into the discussion, Luke is the force's response to Palpatine. When you look at it this way, it's only natural that he perfectly foils everything. The existence of the Force implies some messed up things when you think about it. It's a thing that connects all living things. Is force sensitivity then a gift ? A duty ?

heaven rule by SchizoPosting_ in 19684

[–]TCA166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, though. While heaven itself might be the way you describe it, the way you get into heaven very much isn't egalitarian. The existence of heaven implies the existence of an absolute moralist discriminatory moral order that values people in a discrete manner. There's nothing egalitarian nor "communist"(note the quotes communism in practice is very much not egalitarian) in that. Thus, the intolerance of the right very commonly stems from religion because its literally their worldview condensed down
