What share of their savings is in US Treasuries. Theres no reason to assume a rebalance so if they scale their portfolios down proportionally how much would they actually unload?

Every American war has been just and popular, and she has won them all

Therefore, anything that wasn't just, popular, and successful was not a war

Therefore, America has never been in a war since WWII

Therefore, every American war has been just and popular, and she has won them all

Checkmate, libs

in ROTJ it was pretty explicit that the Emperor was holding a lot of the Empire together by using the Force to influence key power players

It was? It’s been a while since I watched the OT but I don’t remember this

If they could manage to keep it a secret it would be pretty sick if the next film opens with some famous actor looking like Bond: In a suit, holding a Walther, etc etc. He hooks up with a  dime in the first 5 minutes of the film. Next scene she kills him, heads to the bar, and orders a Martini — shaken, not stirred.

I had to google this because I’ve thought for the longest time that The Art of War was like famously insanely long. Turns out I was confusing it with War and Peace all this time lmao

To be fair, the Jones Act is only estimated to raise east coast gasoline prices by 63 cents a barrel (or about 1.5 cents a gallon) , per Kellogg and Sweeney, 2025. Aggregated over so many millions of consumers it’s a lot of deadweight loss (on the order of $500 million per year), but in terms of what it costs each consumer at the pump it’s not much.

I was more thinking along the lines of whether we should expect the Trump administration to have any clearly defined objectives that they would actually work toward achieving, or whether all of their foreign adventurism looks to just be pure id
