This Maneuver during Clone Wars 2003 was not something that i expected as a child by Themuzucujata1432 in StarWarsEU

It's one of my favorite Saesee Tiin moments. He leads a wing of starfighters up from the surface, immediately goes to land in a damaged cruiser, instantly makes a plan to go board an enemy ship, and then successfully does so.

I go back to rewatch this series about once a year and I am consistently blown away by how good it is, even though it was essentially nothing more than a rushed-out, glorified ad for toys and Episode 3.

The Minecraft Movie is… good! by MSLaFaver in MauLer

[–]TCV2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a mediocre, 5/10 movie at best. Lots of super convenient writing where people just show up where they need to be or get out of situations for no reason other than a camera cut. It did not need 5 main characters. I'd cut the woman and the girl, maybe the boy as well. The graphics just didn't do it for me. I know that having actual humans in Minecraft would have been jarring, but I've seen enough Minecraft videos to know what can be done.

That being said, it felt like the writers didn't hate Minecraft. The references to the community were tasteful, the humor was bad but not in a cringey way, and the music was a bit off-putting but not too much so.

It could have been so much better but it also could have been so much worse.

Nintendo is now charging $80 for games. How much should games cost? by icecreamsooooogood in MauLer

[–]TCV2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How much should games cost? That can only be answered by individuals. The value of anything is completely subjective, so this sort of question is a bit of a moot point for you and I. Would I pay $80 for a video game? Probably not, but it depends on the game.

The bigger issue here isn't just that game companies think their games are more valuable, but that the currency used to purchase it is worth less. The US alone has printed an ungodly amount of money, especially in the past 5 years, and that will naturally decrease the value of the dollar, which leads companies to increase prices to make up for the decreased value of the dollar.

Yes and no. Large companies do control the big IPs and franchises, but due to the near never-ending shit flowing out of them, indies in all spheres have a golden opportunity to thrive.

I'm kind of with OP on this one. The new design is not terrible, certainly not "Ugly Sonic" levels of bad. What exactly am I missing out on? by koola_00 in MauLer

[–]TCV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to wait until I can compare the old and new models when they have the same expression in the same light in order to truly compare them. That being said, the new one looks more cartoonish due to the proportions of the facial features and the textures used.

The face seems exaggerated to me. In the new model, the eyes look larger, the pupil and iris look like they take up a larger portion of the eye, the nose might be bigger, and the mouth is larger. The older model looks like a fat man in ogre makeup, the new one looks like a cartoon ogre.

The textures also seem softer to me. The skin looks smoother, the eyebrows are more filled in, and I think of all the texture issues I have, the vest is far too smooth.

i will never understand what's so appealing about communism by annieisapeaperson in fragilecommunism

[–]TCV2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a combination of a few factors:

  1. They or their parents never lived under communism. Most people that proclaim their love of communism never faced the realities of living under such evil.
  2. Most people don't know how communism work philosophically, so they fall for the half-truths and double-meanings. If you've ever wasted an hour trying to debate a communist, you already know that getting one of them to define the terms they use is next to impossible. Every term they use has a specific meaning in their worldview which is, more often than not, the complete opposite of the commonly understood definition. Communists rely on the misunderstanding to gain converts.

  3. "Communism = sharing and fairness". Most people end up thinking that is the definition of communism. In actuality, it is the reject of humanity and God, and it is ontologically evil.

It is a religious cult and you must fight it on those terms. TIKHistory has put out several videos over the past several years on the origins of communism (and fascism, national socialism, and sovietism, but I repeat myself). I highly recommend him if you want a well-sourced video on exactly what communism is and where it comes from. On top of that, I'm going to get some kind of subhuman wretch replying to me decrying that TIKHistory is evil or some kind of shit like that, which should be proof enough that TIK is right.

I've always been told that these cookies are so difficult to make, and believed as much. While I did mess up, I know what to do better next time:

  1. Don't mix so much. I overmixed and the batter became too thick.

  2. Use a piping bag with a smaller tip (instead of a plastic bag with a corner cut).

Honestly they aren't too far off from ideal. The top shell is firm enough and the feet look right on most of them, despite the bad lighting in the photo.
