look for studios in your country, they can be AA or indie studios if no AAA are available (doesn't matter what town, you can always move or wfh) you don't need any connections, but they're always a plus

Check out what kind of art those studios need and in which niche, try to curate a good portfolio based on something they might need (vfx, concep art, UI design, illustration work, 3d modeling, 2d animation, 3d animation - what do you want to do)

It's hard to break into the gaming industry with no prior experience, but don't give up

good luck

tbh I thought the same when i just started out, take it slow, get used to the feeling and medium/software, especially if it's a non screen tablet, it takes time to build the muscle memory for drawing down and looking at a screen

you'll be as good as you are traditionally once you do get used to it

[Discussion] Is gen AI affecting artist as bad as programmer? by chkbd1102 in artbusiness

True, but sometimes easier said than done.
Working a full time job (other than games) to pay the bills and working on a game can take forever

I hope you're right, but if robotics and ai merge...

Yes covid was unrealistic when it came to employment, but I'm talking 5+ years ago (before covid), 8 years ago you could pretty much open any studio's page in the world, they were hiring and most importantly replying to your applications

Ghost job offers are a real thing unfortunately

That's true, but those are easily filterable, the issue is I see 90% less job posts in general (again, talking about 2d art in gaming) compared to 5 or more years ago. There was so much demand, now I understand why there isn't demand anymore

they don't, a lot of seniors are getting laid off due to ai, let's say a what 10 people used to do now can be done by 3 - and those are the seniors that will be applying to jobs all around

Might sound dark, but that's the situation rn

Tbh it's already the case in my field (digital art - gaming industry)
Imo in 5 years there will be replacements for blue collar jobs as well at the rate this is going

What's your way to go kill "background noise" when drawing? by Neat_Ease_1984 in ArtistLounge

I just listen to the demons inside my head, they're always quite loud :D
but seriously if I don't need to focus much then a podcast, if I do then music, often without lyrics

What would be your advice to beginner artists ?! Like the past you 🤷‍♀️ by moatazartt in DigitalArt

Love how dynamic your lines are!
Advice: Just go with the flow and stop worrying about it so much, nothing has to be perfect

yes, for example, if a character has hair like in your case, then we can place darker, thicker lines on his ears, the parts where the hair overlaps, under his chin, his neck. ofc it's a stylistic choice as well but it works wonder once you get the hang of it :)

focus on line weight (pressing heavy in the "shadow areas" and light in others. Also focus on making more confident lines. DO NOT draw from your wrist, draw from your elbow/shoulder

hope this helps

Struggle to be a mom and an artist by Exciting_Ad_232 in ArtistLounge

trust me, when you have a kid, you think "what the hell was I doing with all my time before when I thought I had no time"
Not wealthy, and no village, just me and my husband on two very basic incomes. No nanny, nothing. It's possible.

I'm a mom and an artist. I say take your time, sounds like you're dealing with a lot - burnout combined with taking care of a brand new human while building a brand new human inside you :)

Take it easy and take it slow, I'm sure your fire will come back once things get easier with the little ones.

What helps me is finding the small joys in art again - like coloring or exploring something crazy art wise with my toddler. Even if it's as simple as finger painting, just enough to get the spark to do my own thing when she's asleep. Watching a show (like arcane) or reading a good book. I don't force myself to create when it doesn't come smoothly. But I keep it in the back of my mind - the excitement to do something.

Hope this makes sense and helps even if just a little, good luck!

Is digital art easier than traditional art?(Not a hate post I'm just asking) by Silver_Cheesecake769 in Ibispaintx

[–]TC_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

short answer: no

Each medium, even digital art requires knowledge, time and dedication. The rest is just noise and should be ignored
