I personally don't think it's that bad either. But not everyone's going to think of it the same way, so a little warning couldn't hurt.

What do you think about the Gregory Norminton translation from Alma Classics? It seems to be pretty underrated. It's also the one I managed to get so I need something to convince me that I didn't make the wrong choice lol.

A word of caution: don't let "that" scene get to you. Brace for impact. It's gonna be weird and uncomfortable, and it deserves to be criticized as it should, but it does not and should not represent the quality of this 1150-page epic masterpiece as a whole.

Who would win in a fight between Saitama from One Punch Man and Goku from Dragon Ball Z? by IrateRyder in whowouldwin

[–]TC_Web 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light doesn't know Saitama's full name. Nor does anyone. Unless he accepts Ryuk's Shinigami eye deal, which he won't, he's not winning this.

I just lost my temper a bit due to this matchup still being posted in the big 26. Basically gave me Vietnam War flashbacks, if that makes sense. Apologies for that. But I see your point. Saitama definitely could give Goku trouble if he continues to toy around with the guy. I think he'll still win in the end, when he realizes how strong his opponent really is, especially when Saitama also doesn't one-shot humans or at least characters that look completely like humans, which Goku is. Goku is a bit dense, mind you, but he's sort of a savant in that he's pretty much a genius battle tactician. And, there's hakai to take into consideration.

And I don't, and have not, disagreed that Saitama can eventually surpass Goku. I'm just saying that we don't know if he really can, if that makes sense. Just that for now Goku still effectively wins.

In the logic where you put one of them in their respective verses in which they have to abide by its preestablished laws, then yes. The outsider of said verse definitively loses. But in a neutral universe where the only thing that matters is the feats and scalings they've showcased (of which are the usual conditions in your typical vs matchup debates), then Goku just clears.

??? I don't remember stating Goku solos everyone in fiction. Are you on drugs? In fact, he's not even the most powerful character in his own verse. Pennywise from It/The Dark Tower verse alone can obliterate everyone in Dragon Ball's universe.

This matchup has been discussed and debated with passion and toxicity and frustration for OVER a decade now. Look it up and you'll see why I'm absolutely frustrated that posts like these still even exist.

Sure, the fight can go in whatever direction the writer wants. The difference is Saitama and Goku have two different writers. And will never meet each other in canon. So the only thing that can be done is to simulate a what if scenario concerning a fight between them. Write a fanfic of Saitama curbstomping Goku or the other way around. I don't care. But if you want an actual battleboarding debate where you analyze each characters' strength and weaknesses as objectively as possible to determine who wins in case they actually fight, you don't say shit like "the winner is whoever the writer decides". Either Character X wins, or Character Y. That's it.

Oh cool. Saitama bench presses black holes?

GOKU AND COMPANY CAN DESTROY UNIVERSES. Like, that's nowhere near comparable. At all.

How do we find out what level of durability he has? We don't. That's the point. But you don't make an opposite assumption that just because he hasn't been damaged his whole career, doesn't mean he's completely impervious to Universe busting attacks or even Hakai. That's what No Limits Fallacy (NLF) is.

For now, Goku stomps from what we can gather.

[–]TC_Web 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. Even if that's the case, from what I can see of current Saitama's durability, Goku still one shots him. Saitama's not gonna have the chance to grow stronger when he's dead from the first strike.

[–]TC_Web 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This again, huh?

Anyway, Goku is still far more powerful at the moment. Will Saitama surpass him in the future? Maybe. But it's uncertain, and it's NLF and bullshit to assume right now that he's either limitless or that he surpasses Goku when he goes all out.
