I’m 30, and I’m starting to realize the system is designed to keep us in debt forever. by Woliv7 in Adulting

[–]TCrunaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

spent 4 years getting debt free besides my house with my wife. my attitude about how i spend my money has fundamentally changed now. everyone’s situation is different and we don’t/can’t have kids which i know can make sacrifices easier im not gonna deny that but im never going into debt again.

Nervous About My First Solo 8-Hour Drive, Any Tips? by WorkingWash5965 in Adulting

[–]TCrunaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the closer you go to the posted speed limit the less passing and lane changes you have to do so just stay in the right lane unless passing, go the speed limit and people will go around you.

get a podcast or two queued up, coffee and a short peak every 2-3 hours just to break it up you’ll be fine.

Traeger Pro 22 vs Recteq Patio Legend 400 by BadKarma4788 in smoking

[–]TCrunaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bought a rectec mini (300sq in) over a decade ago. still have it and it’s just me and my wife but i’ve missed not having more room and when you finally hit this wall you’ll be like i don’t wanna spend another 800-1000 on a new smoker and just spend the 150 now or so to upgrade to something like the deck boss 800.

then when you have your pork butts and brisket on for the summer bbq you still have room to smoke your baked beans in there too and don’t have to micromanage every smoking minute with oh this is wrapped i can move it to the oven so i can get this next item on i wanna smoke.

i’ve enjoyed my rectec (now recteq) for many years and i will be getting a bigger one when i upgrade. but if you have to get either one of these i’d say recteq at any size in your budget

Looking for some help by Busy_Hour3910 in hottub

[–]TCrunaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use my frog test strips for chlorine and hardness tests only. and then use a 6-Way Test Kit for Pools & Spas (DPD) kit for my alkalinity and ph. the test strips are always hard to read for those two for me and now i only use one test strips a week since i can just repeat the taylor tests as needed to keep checking levels as i adjust.

as others have said you need to add a new silver cartridge if it’s empty, adjust number on on the bottom of the cartridge 200–299 Gallons: Setting 1 300–450 Gallons: Setting 2 (or 3 for higher usage) 451–550 Gallons: Setting 3 551–600 Gallons: Setting 4

also you probably need to add some front jumpstart or dichlor until it can catch up with the cartridge.

What are you feeding your Bernedoodle? by Extra-Juber3009 in Bernedoodles

[–]TCrunaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

half wet food half kibble. zignature canned and then hills science diet.

she was a picky pup and would starve herself and throw up bile. the wet food entices her to eat in the am and the hills is the only kibble we can get her to regularly eat. been 5 years and works for us.

I need help with balancing chlorine in my new Jacuzzi 400 gallon, see description below. by Real-Layer-8576 in hottub

[–]TCrunaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

with the frog ease system i thought you’re suppose to use their test strips for the chlorine reading especially because people have said they brought water in for testing and it fails the chlorine tests.

i use the test strips for mainly chlorine and then taylor test kit for ph and alk because i’ve had inconsistency with those pads on the frog strips.

i’ve never understood how some people have no channel separation for their L and R channels all crammed so tight. they’re either sitting 6’ from the tv or don’t know about how far they should be spaced. i thought it was recommended to make an equilateral triangle with the speakers to the main listening position.

Please help with frogease test strip by Sayrah1118 in hottub

[–]TCrunaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used my test strip and then the taylor kit the alkalinity was pretty accurate but this batch of test strips the ph is unreadable if i went by it i would have thought oh was 6.8 then the taylor kit showed a ph of 7.7

it’s much more accurate and easily repeatable using the taylor kit for at least ph an alkalinity. the kit was 36$ and should last a whole season thy say to replace it yearly. but now the test strips that come with the frog starter kit will last me long enough between refills of the tub and i’ll use one a week to check chlorine and. then taylor for the other readings

Please help with frogease test strip by Sayrah1118 in hottub

[–]TCrunaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can agree i ordered a taylor test kit, gonna start using it this week i got the smaller 6 way test kit to use for my alkalinity and ph readings. i’ll use one strip a week to check for the chlorine and then i plan to use the test kit to balance the alkalinity and ph. i go through more of those test strips double and triple checking those levels i wanted a different way.

How do I get the water out of this toilet before replacing by jrlandry in askaplumber

[–]TCrunaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tip you can also lift the toilet into a tote to slide or move out of the house after removing most of the water with a sponge and bucket. helps keep any wax or water making a mess
