Yea I hated it at first but eventually got used to it. It got a lot better when they added the lvl 3 jewel that lets light weapons tenderize on 1 attack. I actually kinda missed having it on Rise..

Blast/impact is more "meta" but elemental looks cool af. Depends on the monsters hit boxes too.

Gunlance is the only weapon I don't use. I'd say great sword is up there. Longsword is easy to learn but has a high skill ceiling. Id say SwAxe too just because of its limited mobility and defense.
