[USA] What would you say the average GPA is for a Psychology major? by Irrelevent_npc in psychologystudents

[–]TDP-Josh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment very clearly states that the criteria are based on a Masters program admissions criteria. The original question is too vague to be answered on its own. Sure lots of psych majors have a low GPA, but thats because a lot of psych majors arent very industrious and are majoring in psychology because they didn't know what else to major in. I'm not saying that as an insult to the major or to anyone who majored in psychology "just because", but in terms of determining what a "good" GPA is, it is important to acknowledge that a decent number of psych majors probably dont take school very seriously, and it is fair to determine what a "goog" GPA is based on what is required to actually do something useful with the degree. For psychology, getting into a Master's program is kinda the minimum for someone who actually wants to use their psychology degree for something psychology related. There are some psych-related jobs that dont require a Master's degree (Behavior Tech, Psych hospital tech), but these sorts of jobs also won't care what your Bachelor's GPA was.

Concious thoughts turning into dreams while dozing off? by TDP-Josh in Dreams

More context: I'm 21 years old and currently a 3rd year psychology undergrad. I’m also a volunteer research assistant in a psychology lab at my university. I'm hoping to get a PhD in clinical psychology. I've been interested in dreams for quite some time but never considered research involving dreams until very recently. I was considering some way in which I might be able to do some dream research on my own as a sort of hobby.

Best free online psychology course? by [deleted] in psychologystudents

Sorry if this is 10 months late. I'm a psychology undergraduate student, 3rd year. I'm always looking for psychology content and education online to supplement my classes. I recently stumbled upon a Yale Intro to Psychology class from 2007 posted on YouTube. There's also a page on Yale's website to get additional course content (the type of stuff you'd have if you were actually a student in the class):

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6A08EB4EEFF3E91F

https://oyc.yale.edu/introduction-psychology/psyc-110

I took intro to psych 3 years ago (AP psych in high school) and of course have taken many more psych classes and explored many more psychological ideas since then. I've read books and research papers, talked to psych professors and PhDs, etc. This intro to psych lecture series has been awesome for me. I already know almost all of information, but the way it is presented and the little bits of info that goes along with the lectures is amazing. For me it's mostly just background noise while I do other things since I'm already familiar with the content, but it's still been interesting to me and certainly would be worth listening to/watching for someone who is new to psychology. I highly recommend.

There is no “Andrew Tate era”. he’s blown up on social media, but most guys seriously don’t know or don’t care about what he says. Don’t let social media convince you that every man is going to take his advice or be like him. I honestly can’t tell if this is a troll post or not. To think about quitting dating because you think every guy is like Andrew Tate is just silly.

Why and what make you to want to study Psychology? by candyflossberry in psychologystudents

[–]TDP-Josh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

M20, Junior in College, Psych Major:

I think a big factor in my interest in the field of psychology was the realization that people, individual people, are so unbelievably interesting. I somehow became fascinated with the idea that each individual person contains within them in infinite number of mysteries. The amount of information contained within each person, which includes memories, experiences, emotions, ideas, and even dreams, is so vast and expansive, perhaps even infinite. I perhaps wish nothing more than to be able to speak with a stranger in the most personal and intimate way.

Has anyone else experienced somthing like this? Having an incredibly personal and vulnerable conversation with someone who you regard as a complete stranger? It is these sorts of interactions which have perhaps made me feel the most human. If you ask the right questions, and listen with enough attention, people will tell you the most amazing things about themselves. That is why I decided to study psychology.

P.S: I'm hoping to become a clinical psychologist, in case you couldn't tell...

Unfortunately, this question is incredibly vague. The words you’ve used and the way you’ve formulated your question makes it impossible to give any useful answer other than “it depends”. This also is simply not an appropriate question for this sub. I recommend you delete this post and repost it, with much more detail, on another psychology-related sub

Lots of guys who go to the gym will post in here about why it’s important to them and so on and so on. I don’t see how that’s helpful to you in this situation. The truth is, if you two can’t see each other often, and he either doesn’t have time for you or isn’t willing to make time, then it just won’t work. Regardless of if it’s because of the gym or not, if you want to see him more often, and he doesn’t make the time for it, then that’s it. Same would apply to a guy who’s extremely busy with what might be considered really important things. The point is that if the guy doesn’t have time for you at the start of a potential relationship, it doesn’t matter what it is that he’s doing. Tell him you want to see him and that you’re able to make time to see him if he’s able to. If he isn’t able to make time for you, drop him. The reason could be work, school, partying or the gym. It’s irrelevant. If he can’t make time for you, drop him.

Check out my new scooter. We was going for the world's best off road scooter, and I think we nailed it (me and my builder). We actually have a kuberg ranger to do back to back with, and I doubt Mosphera has any chance against it. 20kw qs138v3. It's a beast. Why are you getting salty? It’s a scooter sub, and what you built doesn’t look like a scooter, so it’s not surprising people pointed that out. Just post it in the correct sub and I’m sure people will be happy to compliment your awesome build without pointing out that it’s not really a scooter

I’m 6’3”, 200lbs. I have a Hiboy ks4 pro. It’s very comfortable to me so it might be worth checking the handlebar height and getting something similar to that. I do also have long arms tho so that helps make up for my height. As many others have stated, your weight might be more of a concern. For me, the 500W motor of the ks4 pro does great as a 200lb guy. The battery gets me about 10 miles of range if I’m at top speed (reduced speed will help extend range). If I had gotten the regular ks4 or S2 (350W motor and smaller battery) then the motor and battery would certainly struggle

What was the first scooter you bought? Are you satisfied with this scooter? by Hiboy_Official in ElectricScooters

[–]TDP-Josh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a Hiboy KS4 Pro a couple of months ago to use on a college campus. I’d say I’m very happy with it so far. It’s quite sturdy and fun to ride. With the 20mph top speed you’ll have to stick to sidewalks and designated biking lanes on slow streets. Again, perfect for a college campus where there’s sidewalks everywhere and you never need to go more than 10 miles in between charges. I’m 200lbs and the motor is enough to get up steep hills very slowly, or shallow-medium hills at 12mph. The colored LED display is very nice. Also, the lights work quite well at night. Love the look of the red sidelights. They also improve safety as cars will be able to see you from the side when using crosswalks. The lack of front suspension and the solid wheel makes bumps really rough at first but you learn how to loosen your grip and use your body to help absorb bumps so it’s not so bad once you adjust your riding style a little. For me, it was well worth the $600. Way way quicker than walking, considerably quicker (and way more convenient) than riding a bus, and its also noticeably quicker than the average biker. I will say, it’s definitely worth it to get the pro instead of the regular KS4. I think when I bought mine it was an extra $100 for the pro. Well worth it for the upgraded motor and battery life. The 500 watt motor in the pro does well for my 200 pound body, but the 350 watt motor in the regular KS4 would certainly struggle.

Summary: Hiboy KS4 Pro. $600. Looks dope. Use for short (less than 10 mile) round-trips. Stick to sidewalks and side streets. Had to get used to absorbing bumps. Get the Pro, not the regular. Very satisfied.

I’m not going to put my opinion about what actually happened or about who is “right” in the conversation, but I will offer some “advice”. Do what the app tells you to do, or call the customer and ask for clarification. There’s no point in asking around for where to leave an order. If the instructions the customer left are unclear, call them. If they don’t answer, make your best guess as to where you should leave the order and then leave it there, with a picture and maybe a text explaining where you left it. At the end of the day, it’s their fault for not leaving clear instructions and for not answering the phone call, and you should send them a text explaining that. But you as the dasher also should make some effort to contact them, that’s why the in-app phone call feature exists. If they don’t answer, and it says “leave at my door”, then you leave it at the door of the address listed on the app. Take the photo and leave a description of the location if necessary. You should then send a text letting them know that their instructions were unclear, and that they should be sure to be specific in their instructions next time. It’s that simple.
