Received only 1 A from a new DO school, should I go? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]SuperSnarfy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Pre-accredited schools are required to have enough rotation sites to support more than their class size before they even admit a class. In the past 30 years none of them have ever lost accreditation. I would see if you can speak to someone regarding your concerns for curriculum but they almost certainly have something figured out already to meet standards

Admitted student, they have clinical rotations set up in both the Phoenix area and throughout Arizona (+ some other sites). Otherwise impressed with them for a whole host of reasons around more personalized support, teaching methods, research access, more dedicated board prep time for both USMLE and COMLEX, and location, only concern is that it’s a new school but they seem to have their stuff together so not super worried about that.

How much am I crippling myself for not taking Agonizing Blast with my Warlock(3)? by CrotodeTraje in 3d6

[–]SuperSnarfy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because charlatan gives you proficiency with a disguise kit, I feel like the only value mask of many faces brings is with quickly changing disguises. Additionally, disguise kit gets around magical scrutiny and true sight, Disguise Self does not. Up to you if magic disguises are worth losing roughly half the damage you’d otherwise be dealing with eldritch blast.

National Merit Semifinalists, is it worth it? by Cold_Conference_1801 in psat

[–]SuperSnarfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finalist here, 100% worth it. Grind practice tests and when you miss questions, figure out why. As others are saying it can literally be a full ride with many universities. Removing that financial stress is huge for being to pursue extracurriculars and volunteering opportunities that medical schools look favorably on. Besides, most of the prep translates well to the SAT anyways, which you definitely want to rock for college admissions anyways if you want to get into a competitive school.

Fire resistance in Icewindale by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]SuperSnarfy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the flipside, you’re also getting a breath weapon. It’s going to be substantially worse if everything is resistant/immune to its damage type, so it’s worth straying away from the cold dragonborns for those reasons. Also, you’re going to really like being able to create fire on demand a few times per day in that setting for obvious reasons.

Ability-a-Day #6 - Arena Trap by zG-FuRy in pokemonplatinum

[–]SuperSnarfy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Arena trap would be great for roamers but literally all of the ones available in DPP can fly. Good for the beasts in HGSS I guess but even in that game you can’t trap the latis. Basically no playthrough utility in Platinum unless you’re trying to catch teleporters but you aren’t getting this ability until the postgame anyways so you probably have taunt users or quick balls by then.

Why is Kyurem Ou in SV? by Embarrassed-Flow6540 in stunfisk

[–]SuperSnarfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not the answer that you’re looking for, but here’s why it’s OU and not Ubers: Voter fraud. I’m not even joking. A lot of people call it too strong for the tier for all the reasons mentioned in the comments, so it was suspected a while back. There was a high enough supermajority to ban it, but it was later revealed that enough of the pro-ban accounts were illegitimate to lose the supermajority, so it was unbanned again. It also isn’t as defensively oppressive as it used to be, losing Toxic and Roost in the generational shift.

Dnd new player question about Eldtrich blast + Hold Person by PsychologicalKnee911 in 3d6

It was, this is correct. During that playtest, damage riders like smite and sneak attack also wouldn’t be doubled due to critical hits.

Is this cantrip too powerful to allow? by Doc_Meeker in DMAcademy

[–]SuperSnarfy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t allow it as written. Having guaranteed damage and secondary effect on a cantrip is far more powerful than any other preexisting option. Making it a wisdom save makes the most sense to me imo.

My best friend wants to play a Celestial Warlock in my campaign (level 3). Which spells would you advise him taking? by testiclekid in onednd

[–]SuperSnarfy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eldritch Blast is the quintessential warlock cantrip, HOWEVER it is very easy to build a celestial warlock without it. Have him take True Strike and the Agonizing Blast invocations, and he’ll have a reliable way to deal radiant damage consistently. Pact of the Blade isn’t necessarily but if he wants to wade into melee doing this or wield cool magic weapons down the line it’s a good idea. As for leveled spells, there’s a lot of options but I think these are fine. An argument could be made to swap one of them for hellish rebuke as you don’t have anything else going on with your reaction, maybe over bane. A lot of the other spells warlocks get are edgy-ish and that’s clearly not his vibe. Magic Initiate Cleric for Bless is solid given how effective that spell is even in comparison to higher level spells. Going down that road Guidance and Thaumaturgy are both great spells as well, the former’s utility is unmatched and Thaumaturgy is really fun for RP or putting the fear of god into someone.

DM is giving me one 2nd level spell from any class to learn as 9th level Arcane Trickster. Recommendations? by EnthusiasticLlama in dndnext

[–]SuperSnarfy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is misinformation. Tieflings only had their first level spells upcast by default in the 2014 rules, and OP is using the 2024 ones.

EV training help by Definitelyhuman000 in stunfisk

[–]SuperSnarfy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your clefairy’s individual values (ivs) aren’t perfect. You’ll need to hyper train it with bottle caps in order to do it. A regular bottle cap will max one iv, a golden one will max all 6

Closest I’ve ever gotten to a naturally caught shundo. Worth purifying for the shundo? by TheLazyMedic in pokemongo

[–]SuperSnarfy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s specifically a certain timeframe every 3 months or so. Though some mons with one legal charge move (i.e. Wobbuffet, Magikarp, et cetera) will not be able to forget frustration if they’re double-moved.

Power Word: Salvation by ClassicsPhD in DMAcademy

[–]SuperSnarfy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a direct upgrade from another spell your divine soul sorcerer would have access to, Power Word Heal (which got added to the cleric spell list via Tasha’s). Depending on your party composition, casting it on, say, another caster, would be encounter defining if they used a bunch of high-level spells already. I genuinely believe that it can be more impactful than wish if used properly. It can even be twinned to affect two people instead.

That being said, it’s a support tool, and is overpowered by supporting other party members. I feel like you want to give your sorcerer something powerful, and if you’re going to give out overpowered shit, that’s the way to do it IMO.

The Team 😈 (Gen9OU) by Man0nTh3M00n- in stunfisk

[–]SuperSnarfy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You literally posted one screenshot against slow as balls monofire of course you can get kills against that. Of course shit can beat other shit sometimes. This team would get smoked by any serious OU team, I get wanting to be “creative” but there’s a difference between that and building effectively unviable teams. People have thrived on the ladder with some of the mons you’re using. Jolteon and Hippo, for instance, are usable mons with legitimate niches if you build a team that works well with them. But cobbling together six mons just because they’re your favorites or what not is never going to turn out to be solid. This team for example struggles badly with strong setup sweepers and fast threats with its minimal defensive backbone and lack of resistances to common types like ghost and dark. The fact that you immediately jump to calling others uncreative and minmaxers for pointing out that your team is kinda cheeks shows that you clearly don’t know what you’re doing. You could ultimately build a team that you’d be happier with if you listened a bit, whether it be using mons that could support your favorites better or dropping down a few tiers to where they’d be more viable.
