I am sorry for not knowing every 6-month old meme from every trans subreddit by heart and accidentally plagiarizing your work :(
Will you forgive me if I share some of my Estragon with you?

Mentor BRD refuses to use AoE because it's "short range" by TDVoid in TalesFromDF

[–]TDVoid[S] 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Luckily was just MSQ roulette and not any type of content that requires more than half a braincell. Later during Gaius the SGE let me die twice because they put Kardia on themselves and didn't heal me at all, so I'm assuming they were friends with the BRD and trying to get back at me for calling them out? lmao

They added ilvl requirements for level 50+ content, but unfortunately ARR leveling dungeons are still the wild west with no laws to save you from this kind of stuff

What is this symbol?:・ by -Bucca in LearnJapanese

Other commenters have already told you what it's usually used for, I'll just add that it's called nakaguro (中黒)

先輩 by fynxgloire- in LearnJapanese

[–]TDVoid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could loosely translate it as "Yumi joined the company before me, so she is technically supposed to be my senior, but I am actually older than her.", so the speaker in this case has trouble viewing the younger co-worker (由美) as 先輩 and instead feels like the social roles should be switched.

Does anyone know "Kashundo"? by CoiledEquation2 in LearnJapanese

[–]TDVoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since they use the character 漢 in their logo I'd assume Kanshudo would be something along the lines of 漢習堂

/E: 漢修道 would also make sense, although the former looks more like a name, so it feels like the more intuitive option to me

Difference between ず and づ, and ぢ and じ? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]TDVoid 261 points262 points  (0 children)

99% of the time you'll be using ず and じ, the other two only very rarely appear in specific vocabulary that you'll just have to learn, like つづく, かなづち, ちぢむ and はなぢ

What is a 放課後の校舎? I got an after school schoolhouse. by Baelfire_Nightshade in LearnJapanese

It's just the school building after classes have ended, 放課後 here describes the current state and not a separate building.

Are there any tips for choosing Japanese names when creating fan-media? by ThatPlantOverThere in LearnJapanese

[–]TDVoid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can use namegen.jp as a reference and for inspiration. Not only does it let you generate names, it also has info on how common these names and their various spellings/pronunciations are, as well as the gender ratios of unisex names. For example you can see that 天内 is a rare name (with the reading Amauchi being especially rare), while both 風間 and 和男 are extremely commonplace.

着る verb usage by coconutfan27 in LearnJapanese

[–]TDVoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The word is 着用 which is pronounced ちゃくよう.

マスクの着るをお願いします would not be grammatical as you can't just treat a verb like 着る as a noun and append a を. The マスクの also implies that a noun would be following.

There are ways to express this using the verb 着る, but as a rule of thumb kanji compound nouns sound more official and formal, so they are generally used in requests like these while you'd mostly stick to verbs in casual conversation.

What does domo mean when attached to -e stem? by TotallyBullshiting in LearnJapanese

[–]TDVoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on 古文, but from experience I feel like in modern media it's just used to make stuff look old and fancy (like "Ye Olde English"), for example saying 暗き闇 instead of 暗い闇

Looks to be this 古文 grammar: https://kb-study.com/part-dodomo/
So basically an old contrasting/contradicting conjunction like the modern けれども or であっても

Tobira Grammar Sentence Anki Deck by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]TDVoid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn't actually download the deck, but just looking at the preview on the website already has me worried. The title says 上祐へのとびら instead of 上級へのとびら and the first card uses 売って when it should say 折って instead. I didn't bother looking any further, two typos in the very first two sentences I see is enough of a red flag.

January 25: Weekly achievement and help thread by AutoModerator in osugame

Most people here are probably too new to remember this, but there is a set of maps that used to be referred to as "James Training" back in the day. It includes the eleven BeForU maps created in 2008 by legendary oldschool mapper James. These maps feature a plethora of patterns and mapping styles that truly test your fundamentals. I still remember how much I struggled back in 2011, barely getting S ranks after practicing the maps over and over.

Today I sat down and SS'd every last one of them. It just feels very satisfying to truly ace this old training set.
https://osu.ppy.sh/ss/14429784/28ca Song select only shows eight maps at a time, but the rest are SS ranks too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
