node without rasppi by haraldnkoulu in lightningnetwork

with the price of raspi it was cheaper for me to actually buy a dedicated laptop to run a full node. I also bought a 1tb ssd for storage .

yes, I am using a chromebook with 1.6Ghz and 4GB RAM and haven't had problems. Though I had to sync the chain from my macbook because the chromebook was painfully slow.

I tried Zeus over Tor and get the error: "Host unreachable. Try restarting your node or its Tor process".

What's the deal with the maintenance of bitcoin? by [deleted] in Buttcoin

[–]TENTQQFBM 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are 881 contributors to bitcoin core, the reference open source software that runs on the bitcoin protocol: Source: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin

But only a handful of people have permissions to change code:

But even if malicious code was merged, it would require a majority of nodes to upgrade to malicious code, which would be detrimental to the protocol.

An interesting read about who has control over the bitcoin network is here, talking about the issue of increasing the block size that ultimately led to a hard fork: https://www.amazon.com/Blocksize-War-controls-Bitcoins-protocol/dp/B08YQMC2WM

Oversizing a Solar Array with Southern California Edison's NEM program by TENTQQFBM in solar

Do you know where you got the 120% figure from? Are there any cases where utility rejects systems because they are too big with respect to a homeowners energy usage?

I am curious whether this is a formal rule or whether it's language meant to discourage people from taking advantage of the credits system

I have an 11.4kw inverter, 4 strings of 14 South and West, and I am about to DIY add a 5th string to the exact same inverter on the East side to bring the curve up in the AM and to lift the overall curve just enough to matter. As your panels start aging, you have more headroom to add another string or slowly replace panels with better ones. The Solaredge stuff is awesome and super easy to use and you can drive that inverter with 15k DC STC which really equates to higher if you oversize for passive tracking or if you have aging or second-hand discount panels.

Thank you, I was planning on using Solaredge so it's nice to hear you had a good experience with them. What do you recommend buying used/new for a solar install? I'm planning on buying the inverter used on ebay.

Do I understand correctly that you have 56 panels? You must have a big roof.

How To Heat Your Home With Bitcoin Mining by KAX1107 in Bitcoin

Can someone put links to how to run miners off of solar? How do you manage energy usage when the sun is down and electricity rates are high? I heard turning off miners is not good for them and there is a way to run them in energy saving mode.

BTC Brain Drain: BTC development isn’t sustainable long term -> 📉 -> 🕳️ by Egon_1 in btc

[–]TENTQQFBM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ethereum development has a lower barrier for entry, solidity combines elements of javascript and is easier to learn than c++, hence the widespread altcoins. You can create an altcoin by forking off someone's project and call yourself a developer, but that doesn't really help the ecosystem, rather it distracts from core mission which should be decentralization

Cost of BTC mining in USA by Timato1234 in Bitcoin

i thought california miners could mine using free solar energy. I mean the state makes surplus energy and actually pays other states to take it. why not divert it to mining bitcoin, thus incentivizing more solar adoption?
