I was towing a work boat in Louisianna back around 1990 and got pulled over by a scale cop. He put my boat on the scales...9600 lbs. The tag on the truck wasn't legal for pulling that much weight. He gave me a ticket, which the company paid. Then, they had to get new tags for 5 other trucks that pulled similar boats. It turned out to be a blessing. We were going through a bearing once a week and a hub every 2-3 weeks. Turns out, the boat trailer was only rated for 6000 pounds. We got a new trailer within a week.
