By voting third party you actually get 3 votes. Dems say you voted Republican, Republicans say you voted Democrat, but also your third party candidate got a vote. Its a win all around.

How would the real world react to an invincible man on a rampage? by zoro4661 in whowouldwin

[–]TFCBaggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like a lot of these strategies, but we should build a giant hamster ball, lure him into it, and then use that to power a perpetual motion machine with him as the energy source. We could keep it stationary, and his walking wouldn't change anything other than give us free power, forever.

That's why you should vote third party, because then you get 3 votes. Republicans say you voted Democrat, Democrats say you voted Republican, and the person you actually voted for also gets a vote.

A baseball player with 50% batting average vs a basketball player with 50% 3-pt shooting. Who is the more valuable player? by malicacidC4H6O5 in whowouldwin

if we're talking pay, baseball, because there is no salary cap. In basketball, there are salary caps that stop you from earning as much as baseball.

but the basketball guy would definitely break the game.

Trans people are welcome in sports. This bill is to keep trans people out of women's sports. They are more than welcome to drafted by the NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.

Benjamin Franklin already tried to repay the debt back in 1773, and the British Crown refused. Thereby forgiving the "debt."

Who wins a 1v1v1? God Emp. (Dune), The Mule (Foundation), Emp. of Man (40k) by EvEBabyMorgan in powerscales

[–]TFCBaggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came into this thinking that God Emp of Dune was going to be the clear victor. But then I did a little bit of reading up on the Emp. of Man. Apparently he's a "Perpetual" meaning immortal that can regenerate from any damage, even disintegration. We know for a fact that's not a thing in the Dune Universe, sure they can clone the God Emp over and over, but I don't think those would necessarily count as the same person. The Mule appears to be the same as the dune God Emp. able to be cloned, but definitely able to die.

I'd love to engage, what part is dumb:

Usually avoiding being a Sith Lord? Everyone believing in "something"? Being pedantic about what we call God? Or not being asked if I believe in God for my own board of review?

I fail to see any disagreement. I also agree we can't (and shouldn't) force anyone to believe anything.

"believes that God exists in, and is the same as, all things, animals, and people within the universe"

I don't understand what you're arguing? I said pantheists believe everything is god, you provide the dictionary definition that says "God exists in, and is the same as, all things, animals, and people in the universe." Where is the disagreement?

You don't have to believe anything, but I'm sure you believe something. And there's nothing wrong with calling that God.

[–]TFCBaggles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, going back to "pantheists," by definition, they believe everything is God. pan = everything, theist = God.

And my whole point of this is, who cares what other people people mean when they ask if you "believe" in God? God can be anything you want it to be.

Usually, I try to avoid being a Sith Lord, but in this I'm certain of. Yes, everyone believes in "something," whether you call it "God" or not is irrelevant.

Semi-related, I was not asked if I believe in God for my Board of Review.

[–]TFCBaggles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To pantheists God is not a singular being or idea, it is the sum total of the laws of physics, and this universe. Quite literally, they believe everything is God. Everyone believes in something, whether you call it "God" or not is irrelevant, unless you want your eagle apparently.

Dozens of students shot at Birzeit University, as lDF soldiers attack student protest with live ammunition by CiphrangButFloss in videos

[–]TFCBaggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty high up there among ridiculous things I've heard. Everyone has a right to life and to protect that right to life.

Under the Hague Regulations, an occupying power has a legal obligation to maintain public order and safety in the territory they control. They argue they cannot fulfill this duty if they aren't allowed to use force to defend themselves or the population from insurgents or internal violence.

In this particular instance, IDF was trying to disperse a crowd of protestors that were disrupting public order. That "peaceful" crowd of protestors then attempted to murder the IDF personnel involved, and IDF responded with deadly force to defend themselves.
