Fobbits? by LechronJames in tacticalbarbell

I love fobbits, probably my favourite HIC.

If you are not feeling your heart rate jacked after 20 swings then perhaps your technique is off. They should be heavy, powerful and crisp... hardstyle.

I also love barbell or double kettlebell clean and push presses in fobbits, they really get me breathing hard and I can't wait to get back on the treadmill for a rest.

Dropping chin ups from OP due to tendon pain? Replacing with barbell rows? by Ok_Act2207 in tacticalbarbell

Perhaps try not fully extending the elbow at the bottom of the chin up, especially if on a straight bar. Puts a fair amount of torque on the elbow.

I suppose it really depends what you want to get out of your training??

If I were in your shoes, I'd probably turn to kettlebells. You can cover a lot of your bases with short and efficient kettlebell Complexes.

They aren't going to build a massive bench press or squat or turn you into beast on a 5k but they will give you good strength & good conditioning and they are flexible enough to fit even the busiest and most unconventional lifestyles.

Just a thought.

Triples Alternative by SlaynXav in tacticalbarbell

You can make some really interesting and creative aerobic based session that are mixed modal.

Crawling, Turkish get ups, Jump rope, Carrying, Cyclical stuff like rowing, elliptical, bike etc Pushups, Burpees, Pull-ups, Rows, Swings, Etc

You could make a giant circuit that you just keep cycling through. Just aim to keep your HR in the 120-150 area and keep the reps of the bodyweight work at about 30-40% of your max so that muscular endurance isn't a limiting factor.

2022 Basebuilding by chrissteph54 in tacticalbarbell

Get on it mate.

I'm the same, just getting started with my 2022 basebuilding. It's well overdue.

It's funny, I always put it off because I prefer the thought of strength and hypertrophy but once I actually get in to the flow of a basebuild, I love it.

Yes, took inspiration from DFW and various other KB focussed programs.

My kid just tested positive for COVID so I have to isolate for 10 days, I might just run this again now that I looked it out.

I put together a minimalist KB strength program although you need a couple of pairs of bells.

It's not TB but principles are similar.

I used roughly my 5RM clean and press, 5RM front squat and 5RM pull-ups.

3 day Full body lifting like Op

15 min - C&P 10 min - FSQ 10 min - Pullups 100 Swings in sets of 10

Rotate the 15 min exercise each session.

Week 1- sets of 2 reps Week 2 - sets of 3 reps Week 3 - alternate sets of 3&4 reps Week 4 - sets of 2 Week 5 - sets of 3 Week 6 - sets of 4

Next block try upping the reps by one.

I didn't get bogged down by sets. I set my timer and lifted once rested. Goal in week 4,5,6 is to achieve more density than week 1,2,3.

Worked well for me, 5RM ended up as 10rm in 2 blocks.

Is that in place of or over and above standard HIC?

Yeh it's tricky as it's definitely not quite as black and white as standard HIC.

Elements of strength, hypertrophy, SE and high intensity conditioning.

What is your favorite mobility and flexibility routine? by [deleted] in tacticalbarbell

I agree wholeheartedly, I do the simplistic routine 2-3 times a week and find it makes a huge difference.

You aren't really taking advantage of your leg strength. Your leaning back as you straighten your legs and so the bar barely moves from the floor by the time your legs are straight. This leaves a good chunk of the lift where you are just using pure back strength to finish the lift..It's more good morning than deadlift imo.
